So let me get this straight, you're arguing against the OPTION of the comic? Why?

The way i see it. These games aren't ment to be played indivually. The comic was even made because ME1 is so vital to ME2. If it was really okay to skip the first game, then the comic (or some other alternative) may have been built in ME2 when it first came out. I agree that playing through ME1 for the 7th or 8th time would be boring, but Bioware isn't catering for that crowd, They're doing it for the people who haven't played it. Would George Lucas release a shortened star wars montage for people who would prefer to skip parts 1, 2, and 3?

I hope you can understand my point even if you may not agree with it.

Keep your personal attacks out of your arguments from now on. No one is to be called idiots, fools, or their arguments worthless. You are to argue the points of the subject of this thread and not what you think of the people in this thread. This is my only warning.

Again I reiterate, why are you against the OPTION of the comic for those who want it? You'll still have ME1 and the comic is not an equivilant for the ME1 experience so those who haven't bought ME1 won't feel any less compelled to buy it should they have access to the comic, infact I'd argue the opposite as the comic would show them what they're missing.

And really, the comic would be a lot simpler than having to edit my files everytime I want to change my Mass Effect choices (without fear of the import screwing up Mass Effect 3)

Would you please point out how my last comment didn't answer all of this? I felt it was enough to expain myself, but I apologized if I missed a point somewhere.

Child #1 receives an extravagant chocolate cake and explains to child #2, "Well, Dad says this cake is only for me, so it really can't be helped, but he didn't say anything about the loaf of cheap bread he gave you so I think it best you share because I would be interested in the OPTION"

lol i love how Jesse Houston has to discuss this issue like a parent to spoiled little children "now now, timmy is getting a cookie the same size as yours jimmy, no jimmy, it doesn't have one more chocolette chip then yours did"

It's both hillarious and tragic what these forums have boiled down to

Now PC/360 users are complaining about not getting the comic because they're too lazy to play through the first game or use the gibb. That's a whole new level fail.

Or the fact that its a unique piece of content that we want to experience.

You got the first game. PS3 owners don't.

The idea that you're complaining because you don't get this is ridiculous.

I agree with Skilled Seeker.  I'd like this content to be made available to PC/360 users.  I loved ME1, but I can't go back and play it, it's just not as fun gameplay wise compared to ME2... and the time it would take to do all that just to have a different background... ehhh.  So having the interactive comic to set-up a new ME2 game for us is, for me, very welcomed and wanted.

Guys. Come on. What are the chances that the interactive comic won't be up as an interactive video on youtube in 2 weeks ?

That's not the point. People are actually whining because they're not getting a gimped version of a game they've already played.

Surely the interactive comic is something the second game could have had on 360 as well. It would allow newcomers to the series to make the choices that PS3 users will be able to. How is this in any way a bad thing?

The default 'choices made for you' start to ME2 is okay, and if that's what the writers consider canon then that's fine, but it limits the variety of ME2 for players who haven't played ME1 for no good reason other than a potential money maker if newcomers buy ME after buying ME2.

For others who have played the first game countless times, but would like to explore the various outcomes in ME2 not covered by their carry over saves, it would be a much more friendly way to do so than sinking another 5 hours minimum into ME - for a bare bones run - or 15+ hours for a full run.

This comic, or another make the important choices quickly method should be incorperated into ME3 from the start on all platforms. I just makes sense. The elitism of the 'I was in it from the start so I deserve more' line of thought is ridiculous.

Actually, I really don't like the "default choices" in ME2 at all.  Default and I don't agree on very much.

The interactive comic & ME1 savegame generator would be a useful tool for marketing ME2 on all platforms at this point.  You might say that the PC and XB platforms don't need it because we can just play ME1, but that is an empty argument.  Those of us who are going to play ME1 have, for the most part, already done so.  There are definitely some people who would like to get ME2, but they haven't yet because the reviews they have read all talk about how much more rewarding the experience is if you have already played the first one.  They have also read about how much of an improvement the second game is over the first.  This puts them in the situation of being hesitant to get the first game because the second is allegedly better, but also hesitant to get the second game without playing the first one, first.

That reasoning might not make sense to you - it doesn't make much sense to me either.  It is, however, an accurate restatement of the reason a particular friend of mine has never, to date, played a Mass Effect game (despite my incessant urging.)  The interactive comic would fix the situation, and sell more copies of ME2.  I honestly believe that ME2 is so good that people who play it first will want to go back and play ME1 as well... so that sells a few more copies of that game also.

Look, I understand that the PS gamers don't have ME1, but that is Microsoft's fault, and it is apparently too late to fix it now.  The interactive comic is a useful and appealing thing across all platforms, and at the end of the day there is one truth that reigns supreme: Platform Exclusives Suck.  The fact that ME1 was a platform exclusive sucked very much bad, and the fact that it continued to exclude the PS platform sucked for the PS crowd.  That is a poor excuse to exclude platforms from new content, experiences, or tools, however... because it would suck.

So you'd rather them just lose the ps3 market altogether. The exlusive comic should stay exclusive for the ps3 for a full year just as me2 had for the x60 and pc.

Yes, exclusives suck but there must be some reason for a playstation owner to pick up a copy. Not having Me1( not that they have any choice) but having a timed exclusive comic book would be just the reason for many playstation owners to feel a sort of parity between the two systems.

Two wrongs don't make a right, there is absolutely no need for the comic to remain exclusive to the PS3.  You want a reason why PS3 owners should pick up a copy ........ hm I dunno how about so they can play the game on their PREFERRED platform eh ?  If they are silly enough to take the attitude of "oh well I am not going to buy it because the comic isn't exclusive to the PS3" then sorry but it is their loss and they are just as bad as those on the xbox side that don't want PS3 owners to have the game at all.

Wow...

So, everybody pass the DLC topic, bsc now we know that content was or is avalible for PC and Xbox owners.

The last stand thing is interactive comic.... But you should read carefully before start a war:

Jasse Houston said: 'This interactive comic's initial release will be exclusive to PS3 owners '.

I would like to give you a hint in words INITIAL RELEASE. That means that they (we) get it first, not that PS3 owners will be the only ones who will get it, and PC and Xbox users don't.

So the only problem left for you to fight:

Why the Xbox and PC owners will not receive it the same time as PS3 owners? :)))

I have PC(prefered), Xbox (don't like that console, mostly bsc of lame Xbox Live) and PS3 (this one I like a lot:), so I don't care. But I understand ppl need to fight about something to kill the time:))))

My personal fight - I want new DLC:)))))

I'd be happy if the DLC made it for Xbox and PC, I don't feel like replaying ME1 all over again just to make a few choices that could influence ME2 a bit.

I think we all receive it, but the time will be not the same (it could be a week or a month - I hope not longer).

What I'm worried about - we do not get new DLC before PS3 relese.

It was said that different ppl working on DLC and PS3 version, and there will be no delay in DLC but how can we know that? There was no announcement. We don't know when BW planned to give us new DLC, so we know nothing about the right time.

I would be very doubtful of receiving anything DLC wise till they have got the PS3 version out of the door.  I can't see them doing anything to "distract" people from the PS3 version for a starters.  Secondly any DLC they release now before the PS3 version is going to be greated with "well that should be free with the PS3 version too".

Finally I imagine they will want to release the next DLC at the same time on all three platforms which means at the earliest we will have to wait till February 2011 (a month after the PS3 launch).  Having said all that they could surprise us and have something ready for December, but my gut instincts say no chance.

Ugh!

Can't you see that a comic letting you skip the previous game undermines the whole point of letting you transfer save files?

The only exception should be the ps3 version of ME2, WHICH HAS NO WAY OF TRANSFERRING A PREVIOUS COMPLETED SAVE FILE. This is the only reason it was made.

Rigth. If not PS3 it was not been made..but when you have somethig ppl want to buy, then you sell it to them:))) Look for ME2 on PS3:))) You got your answer.

And You assume ppl wants to skip previous game. If you have the comic, would it be enough for you? Would you skip ME1 if you could have possibility to play it?
I think ppl will use the comic to create a save for x'th playthrough:D

This was a point I made earlier as well.  I really can't see how they
can release anything new until after the PS3 release and even then
they'll get the "Why wasn't this in the game I bought" complaints from
PS3 users if they release DLC immediately.

I don't care. As much as I want to, I can't afford to spend 15-20 hours playing Mass Effect 1 just for modifying my storylines a bit. And not everyone wants to play ME1 because they feel the gameplay is a chore compared to ME2.

I'm just saying it would be cool if Xbox / PC players get it too. I'm not demanding it.
