maybe it's because mass effect 1 is exclusive the xbox 360, and the content for ps3 makes up for it.

Thanks for the edit, Jesse! Figured it'd work out, since BW is famous for listening to the fan community, but sometimes the rumor mill gets me worried...
My pleasure! One of the coolest parts of BioWare is that we are allowed to interact with our fans at all! At previous companies I've worked for, it's strictly forbidden. The rules of engagement as far as public communication are VERY VERY strict, it's so cool to see that we are given freedom to speak and listen to those we ultimately serve!

I once saw an Ally Bank commercial where it said "Even kids know its wrong to treat new friends better than old friends. Why don't banks?"
(Now ready it again replacing "don't banks" with "doesn't BioWare")
Because banks already have your money
Seriously though, I think it's fair if PS3 users get promo and/or pre-order stuff from PC/Xbox cheaper/free and rearranged into different bundles. After all, they'll be getting ME2 much later, and won't be getting ME1 at all. It's sad I won't get to see the interactive comic thing, but unless it's leaps and bounds better than the printed comics I've seen so far, I'm not too upset about missing out on them to be honest.
The mention of PS3-exclusive stuff was a bit disconcerting, but after the edit it sounds more reasonable.

There seems to be a great deal of concern about BioWare ignoring our fans or trying to create a divide in our fans. Why would we do that? The entire purpose of building the PS3 version has not been to alienate our existing fans but instead to give new opportunity to those who have not yet been able to enjoy the games that we pour our hearts and souls into creating!
I, for one, do not doubt that people working at Bioware are awesome and not evil (apart from, well, certain evil ones). But you are a division of Electronic Arts now. I don't trust EA's judgement nearly as much as I trust yours, and there's always a concern about how much power you have vs their mandate.

See my edit regarding the unannounced 'Exclusive DLC'. I can't give details, but I can tell you that we're definitely working as hard as we can to create parity not disparity between the three versions.
I edited the original post to provide more clarity and hopefully calm down some fears of the Big Evil BioWare.
Beyond that, because there are certain things, I'm allowed and not allowed to talk about publicly, I can only release either very vague details or very specific ones on certain areas.

So trust me when I tell you that nothing I do intentionally on ME2 PS3 will deny a PC or Xbox360 fan from an experience they would have like to have had.

Edit: For those that don'y know as a publicly traded company we have very strict rules on how we communicate publicly. That is why we're sometimes shackled on what we can and can't say at a certain time or place. It's not 'cause I don't want to tell you every little detail about one of the best projects I've ever worked on!
If truly only the ME1-PS3 part is exclusive

That being said, this whole PS3 exclusive content thing really illustrates the danger of the English language, especially when most of Bioware speaks Canadian (there's a difference), I'm speaking American (an even bigger difference), and the pesky interview that started it all was Canadian->German->unknown English version.

Regardless as to whether or not you're allowed to come on the forums, it's nice of you to even tell the fans upfront about the translation issue instead of keeping us speculating for months. Thank you for telling us.
But you know that the fans are pretty hungry for DLC by now, right?

To be honest it is a situation the whole software industry has created, in the old days if you bought a game on the PC, Xbox or PS2 you got the same game. Now with Sony and MS fighting like kindergaten kids and the consumer finding if they buy a game on one system it has special content on another system it is natural for them to be suspicious especially with ambigious statements like "6 hour mission".
Even now with that carefully worded statement you had to put "exclusive" in there which in this day and age is a pretty loaded term. I am still not 100% sure what this means for me as a PC gamer and how it will affect my Mass Effect experience. However it is appreciated that you tried to clear things up and on a Saturday too.
Couldn't agree more

I fully support Mass Effect 2 getting a PS 3 release.
I understand that they need a little intro to make up for ME 1's absence.
I very much do not support them getting items in ME 2 which i do not.
I'm not too happy about paying for all the DLC and Mr Johnny come lately comes along and gets it all for bloody free. It looks more and more that Biowares Public relations people are not quite upto the job here.

Edit: While I can't go into details all of this content is or was available to Xbox/PC Owners but otherwise wouldn't be available to PS3 owners.
More details about this will be released later.

Im confused by that, The Edit part. Was(Is?) this content intended for 360/pc as well. Or was moved over to ps3 exclusivity?

The reason is silence. It is not about the official announcements, it is about to feel, that there are ppl on the other siede. It helps a lot.
Your statement here is enough for me to feel good again. Mybe is funny but true.
I'm big fan. I'm waiting for more. For me ME is abest game ever. I care.
Long silence is someting that killing the spirit. SIlence is the cradle of rumors and speculations.
So I want to thank you again for your words.
The biggest problem here, in my opinin, is lack of info on the forum. Here are your fans, but get a scrap of info is a mission almost immposible. Why do not make a topic with every info Bioware give to the world? Why we need to search entire net to get some piece?
It is a plea from me.

Thank you for that. I have PC version, but I will buy the PS3 as well. I will make preorder as soon as you make an official announcment. I personally hope, that you use the power PS3 has:) And to have all content in one piece is just graet. When you do it for PC, I will buy another copy too;).

I know. I don't like it as a fan, but I know. Stiil think the silence it is not the best policy:(.
Again, thank you and the team for your work. Keep going... and talk with us. Not annouce, not give details ( even if I deadly want to know) but talk;). It is really good to know that someone on the other side listen:happy:. And now is the first time I have that impression - thanks to you.

It could mean some things are exclusive to just the 360/pc versions, or that the exclusive is timed.

If the comic is all-inclusive and the PS3 users don't miss out on a single choice, that defeats the purpose of ME1 to an extent. If it glosses over choices like the personal missions, Parasini, Conrad Verner, or even the ME1 exclusive romances then they'd lose relevance to the multiplatform ME3 and lose priority over things all three systems get thus hurting loyal PC and 360 looking for conclusions to their decisions.

Still unsure why some are pissed about more people getting to play the game, thereby adding more revenue and increasing the fanbase size, which will probably provide more incentive and feedback for ME3's quality. Competition bias, I suppose.

Did you ever have a toy that you really, really liked and would never share as a kid? And then when someone else got the same toy you got jealous because now they were playing with it?
Same principle applies to people ****ing and moaning on the internet.

I don't think people are annoyed at more people getting to play the game. I have been a life long PC gamer (20 odd years gaming on the PC) and I can certainly say it does not annoy me that PS3 users are getting the game. If anything it is about time, I don't go with this "exclusive" rubbish that console manufacturers are resorting too and pressuring games companies into doing.
Equally I do not have a problem with PS3 owners getting all the DLC to date for free with the game, nor do I have a problem with them getting an exclusive Interactive ME 1 comic to help set them up for ME 2. If truth be known I am actually quite curious about this interactive comic and if it is done well it will be an excellent feature for PS3 users and it is fair that they have that "special" feature.
What I am not happy about is the PS3 getting extra content that excludes PC/360 users. That isn't the right way to do things and there really is no need to produce content solely for PS3 users at the expense of PC/360 users. Now thankfully it looks like Bioware isn't going to do that and the "exclusive" content is going to be something like the pre-order packs (which I don't really have a problem with)..
In short all Mass Effect 2 customers should be treated to the same content be it on the PC, PS3 or 360.

thank so much for sharing us this information.
Also I have two simple requests.
- Please have R1 as the primiary fire button. L1 to fine aim / look through scope with sniper rifle.
- Please make sure the frame-rate is stable and have a lock on it. It should be locked at 30 fps min.
Thank you so much again.
