Right because a comic is comparable to a video game.

The less comparable a comic is to a videogame, the less you can justify an embargo on a comic for those who have played the (not at all comparable) video game.

Well durasteel I demand that you never see the movies then, how dare you see the movies when I haven't read the books.  Only those that haven't read the books should see the movie

It isnt THATS THE WHOLE POINT. ITS A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE THAT WE WANT TO ENJOY TOO.

The comic is a ****** poor attempt to make up for missing ME1. An experience YOU ALREADY ENJOYED THAT THE PS3 OWNERS DIDN'T.

NO WE DIDNT ENJOY A COMIC. AND PS3 USERS WILL STILL GET IT TOO. GIVING IT TO US AS WELL DOESNT AFFECT THEM IN THE SLIGHTEST. YOUR ARGUMENT IS BASELESS AND MOOT.

THE ONLY REASON YOU'D EVEN GET SAID COMIC WAS BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF MASS EFFECT 1 ON THE PS3.

IT IS NOT NEEDED FOR THE ME EXPERIECE.

IT DOES AFFECT THEM BECAUSE THEY END UP HAVING LESS CHOICES THAN YOU.

IT ALSO GIVES THEM LESS REASON TO PURCHASE THE GAME AT A 60 DOLLAR PRICE TAG.

Whether we get the comic or not the PS3 experience will remain exactly the same. It does NOT affect them.

So as long as only PS3 owners get shafted, it's all right?

Great argument.

I have been, I think, pretty clear all along that it is not "all right" for the PS3 to get shafted.  There is, however, nothing that can be done about the PS3 getting shafted by Microsoft over ME1.  Whether or not the 360 and PC owners get the interactive comic, the PS3 owners will still have been shafted over ME1 by Microsoft.  The comic being released across all platfroms has nothing at all to do with the PS3 getting the shaft.  Nothing.  At all.

/facepalms

The only reason the comic is being released in the first place is because the PS3 can't get ME1.

It's about which version to get. The question is: why one should buy it not on PC, but on PS3? Or even re-buy it on PS3? As it stands now, at least you can market it as "Only on PS3 you can make all the choices affecting world in ME2 in a matter of minutes and experience the most of ME2 content!"
Although it'll be partly false advertising.
Thing is, if you want to sell a late port, you must find a way to convince customers that this version is better than others.
Which is pretty damn hard already: how can you convince somebody that PS3 version is better than 360 and PC ones when one of trademark features - importing savegames from ME1 - is not present? And you can't just make it look/run better than on 360 (like it was done with Ninja Gaiden Sigma series) and be done with it - because PC will always have potentially best performance and graphics.
That said, Bioware said nothing about if they need/want PS3 version to sell well. As some people suggested they might be OK with it failing to sell at initial price and counting on ME3. I don't know. But if they want to sell it, they should make it better (or at least make it look better to an average potential buyer) than 360 and PC version (which already's been sold well - as you might know games make most of revenue in first couple of months after release).
Truth be told, a comic is not enough.
Anyway, small exclusive content won't alienate anyone. A couple of fanboys will **** and moan until they'll be banned, but let's be honest - people who love ME will buy ME3 anyway, even if PS3 would get a new party member or a 10 hour mission. Maybe - maybe - structure of sales will change, there will be more copies of ME3 sold for PS3, but seeing as EA recent policy is to support PS3 as much as possible... It's a good time to use PS3 a lot.

No, we enjoyed the first game.  Now, we want to enjoy the comic.  They are not the same.  The stories will be very similar, the art style will be very different.  The sound palette and voice-overs are anyone's guess.

So what it comes down to, is it's okay for PS3 owners to miss out, but not 360 owners.

Well you can say we missed out on virtually every final fantasy game and Metal Gear Solid 4. Your point?

No. Because you get the game and the comic. While all they get is said comic that was supposed to make up for them getting the game.

That said I don't care as long as its a timed exclusive.

And really the sales are going to be "meh". If BW wasn't so fast to jump in bed with Microsoft we wouldn't have had this issue.

And demading to get the comic because you can't be bothered to play through ME1 isn't petty?

My main reason for wanting the comic book is because I would love the opportunity to experience Mass Effect 1 in a different way.  Just like after I have read a book and I go out to see the movie.  Why go and see the movie if I can just read the book again ?  I want to see the movie because it is a different way to experience the story that I read in the book.

I don't think that is petty I think that is showing an appreciation for the Mass Effect story and the universe.  But no I shouldn't be wanting the comic because PS3 users have to feel that PC/360 users are losing out somehow.

So... reading the past few pages, PS3 users should get nothing special about them and PC / 360 should still be the superior platform?

Yeah because Sony was stupid enough to not buy out Bungie when they had the chance, and Bioware didn't feel like coding for the Playstation because Coding for the Xbox is much easier.

Gahh getting off topic, this isn't even about that. The point was the guys statement was wrong.

That's the general sentiment, yes.

No it's really a matter of regardless what version of ME2 you get, you'll never get the complete experience

This is what it all boils down to.

Microsoft owns the rights to ME1. Therefore ME1 can never come to PS3. There is nothing we can do about that.

Giving the comic to everyone will in no way negatively impact on the PS3 experience unless you are a psychopath that wants 360/PC users to suffer because of something that isn't their fault just to make your sadistic heart feel good.

Coming from you, I think that is a compliment.

My point, however, was valid.  Not having ME1 on the PS3 is a reason to make the comic, but not at all a reason to refuse to sell the comic to PC and 360 players.

If you're going to use that kind of justifications one could very well say that virtually every ff game is a result of SE not wanting to make it on the small install base against the top dog of the time.
