I'm going to laugh my ass off when this comic comes out and is a ****** poor replacement for ME1.

The "I told you so." will be glorious.

I say then: it will sell 250000 copies worldwide. No more. At least in first 3 weeks + a couple of weeks for Killzone 3 madness. Then it will continue to sell, but at discounted price.

I don't doubt it.

And yeah. Very few people are going to pick this up over something new.

Can you blame them since we're not getting the first game?

No I don't. Hell I have a PS3 and won't get this until it's <20 dollars. It's just not worth it.

Of course its not since you already own ME2. The PS3 version is aimed at PS3 gamers that don't own ME2.

You're forgetting Japan, good sir.

...Is something a new JRPG coming out over the same time? And most of the people in Japan that would've gotten it I see as already having it for Xbox. (For once the xbox sale's were semi decent over there!) I don't see them spending (and games are more expensive over there no?) full price for something they know isn't a full experince.

Oh please. Today in Japan there are 10 times for PS3's sold than xboxes.

So...
reading the past few pages, PS3 users should get nothing special about
them and PC / 360 should still be the superior platform?

No it's really a matter of regardless what version of ME2 you get, you'll never get the complete experience

How
so? If the comic is just a recap of the events of ME1, you're still
getting the experience. Hell, one could say ME1 is a much "fuller"
experience.

You're forgetting some of the exclusive armor and weapons packs that will be hitting the Ps3

What exclusive armor and weapons? Isn't that just going to be the preordered DLC?

ummm, recon operations pack and a couple others? Did you forget about that already?

All of that stuff is available to Xbox/PC owners.

Quoting Jesse Houston: "There will also be some DLC Bundles, such as the Aegis Pack as well as EXCLUSIVE both Free and Paid DLC for all PlayStation 3 owners such as the Recon Operations Pack.  "

No. Because you get the game and the comic. While all they get is said comic that was supposed to make up for them getting the game.

That said I don't care as long as its a timed exclusive.

And really the sales are going to be "meh". If BW wasn't so fast to jump in bed with Microsoft we wouldn't have had this issue.

I think I see your problem.  The comic is not "supposed to make up for them [not] getting [ME1.]"  The comic is designed to let them more fully enjoy ME2 by showing them the story from ME1 and letting them make many of the choices from the game to import as a save file.

The comic reflects the story from ME1, but making it is all about ME2.  Nothing but ME1 would or could make up for not having ME1.  Your equivalency between the comic and the game is false.  Sorry.

That said, BioWare's intimate relations with Microsoft had some obvious drawbacks and fallout, but without it we might not have any Mass Effect products at all.  The large print giveth, and the fine print taketh away.

Hey I said decent.

And have you forgotten that in Japan WRPGs don't tend to do as great as the latest FF -insert somethin that isn't 13 here- or Dragon Quest?

WRPGs don't do too great over there.

Edit: Never mind got it mixed up with the recon hood.

Wow. New weapons and armor for an RPG.

Though at least itssomething.

I completely give up trying to instill some sense in you guys. I just hope and trust Bioware will make the right decision and not give any exclusivity to any platform.

Japan's market is nowhere as big as that of Europe and the US and Western RPG's maybe getting some legs in the market but it won't sell more than 100k over there.

And when considering the US and Euro market take into account what has been said no advertising, other games coming out for the year, and no lasting incentive plus it's a year late port multiplat people who were interested most likely already bought it.

Bioshock even at its now bargain price has yet to reach 100k in sales on PS3, AitD:Inferno is stilll way behind in sales despite being superior, and neither the ninja gaiden sigma's have outsold the "inferior" version.(btw I used vgchartz)

Until and unless the first game is ported over to the Play Station, the PC and 360 will remain in a superior position with regard to the Mass Effect franchise.  No comic is going to change that.

Sorry? How is that possible if ME1 won't be ported to PS3? That is impossible.

Weapons and Armor are not really at the same level as that of an entore story with a lot of dialogue to immerse themselves in.

What about the people who are big fans of the combat in ME2? I'm big on shooters and now I know I won't be getting a handful of weapons and armor to add to my already-too-small of an armory that ME2 offers.

What about the people who enjoy story? The fact is our comparison is one that's subjective to different individuals so I guess neither of us will be able to convince the other. Either way it's not fair for anyone really.

So what? PS3 peeps should consider themselves lucky that they are getting the game at all. Were it not for the support and money of the PC and 360 community ME would have never come to PS3. And you thank us by giving exclusives to the newcomers.

Unfortunately that cannot be fixed, but it doesn't make it right that content should be held off the PC/360 version either.  It doesn't matter how much content you make exclusive to the PS3 you will not make up for the fact they won't get ME 1.   As the old proverb says "two wrongs do not make a right".  By holding content off the PC/360 all you are doing is giving a few insecure people the opportunity of going "ha ha you didn't get such and such on the 360 so the PS3 is superior ha ha".

Double facepalm to that fanboy post. Jeez, people are not feeling "lucky" when they're offered a product they're supposed to pay for.

Speaking as someone who loved ME2, but was very underwhelmed by the replayability of ME1 .. I'd totally love the idea of being able to make an importable ME1 save game without the necessity of curbstomping my way through the whole first game again.

It wasn't the support or money of the 360 and PC gamers that brought ME to PS3 it was the support and money of EA. Are you not aware that EA owns ME's IP and that EA as a business makes suer they make things multiplatform that's why we even see games like Sims 3 on every platform and such.

Also the only thing the PS3 can get that's exclusive that would make me angry is a helmet toggle. If they have that and I can't get it blood will be split.

Are you seriously that obtuse.

The comic is being made because the PS3 isn't getting the first game.
360 owners have the first game.
Now there is parity.
Except you want things to be unbalanced, just to satisfy your ego and rub it in PS3 owner's faces.

Your argument is:
  • I'm a PS3 owner, and I got screwed over the first Mass Effect game.
  • As long as the people who got the game on the PC or 360 don't get screwed, I shall remain butthurt.
  • BioWare can screw over their PC/360 customers by refusing to sell them the interactive comic that PS3 owners get on their ME2 disk.
  • Therefore: BioWare should keep the comic away from their paying PC/360 customers so that I may cease to be butthurt.
Yeah... whatever dude.

You can't make up for the absence of ME1 (although everybody interested already played it on PC). That is not the point. The point is making this - PS3 - version of ME2 worth buying over or in addition to one of other two versions.
By holding content off PC/360 (even temporally if you do it smart), as you say, you make people buy/prefer PS3 version which right now yields more profit.
