Its nice to see ME2 for PS3, But I don't like, all content for free on PS3 and no need paying, thats selfish and unfair in my opinion.

You guys are getting crazy for nothing, things like this happens all the time in our new 'sweet' video game era.

-Game gets available to a new console with every DLC available

-Game gets re-released for half the price a year or two after the initial release with every DLC/expansion previously available as a GOTY or platinum version

I can't really support their way of releasing and pricing DLC (hence why I don't buy them), instead I play the intelligence card and wait the game to get released with all the content for less than it would cost to get all DLC separately, I've learned from my mistakes.

I just paid 20 US for the game, another 20 US for the DLC content, and haven’t gotten Shadow Broker just yet but, probably will, which will cost another 10 US. Considering that newly released PS3 games cost 60 US, I don’t think we should begrudge PS3 users all the DLC content, or complain about Bioware making it available to them.

Personally I don’t like the idea of DLC content and having to be online to play a game or have access to it, especially after the content is purchased and installed is an additional annoyance. I generally turn away from games that are taking this path. I made an exception for ME2 since I’m studying the environment. My biggest complaint about ME2 is that we shouldn’t have to purchase an appearance pack to fix Garrus’ Space Suit!

This is an old argument in this thread and there are two main counter points to it;

1) It's not free, as a package it's still more expensive to buy it on PS3 than it is to buy a copy on 360/pc today and download all the DLC (I think someone worked it out as about $55 on 360, $60 for a new release PS3 game)

2) The PS3 owners don't have the option to buy the main game separately, they have to pay for the game and the DLC as a single package when 360/pc owners can buy the main game and then decide whether they want to spend the extra money on the DLC.

The usual counter to these points is a few months after release the PS3 version will drop in price making it cheeper than the 360/pc versions+DLC.

The other side of this argument is that 1) the PS3 version will be more expensive on release so they will pay more for a period before 360/pc owners have to pay more and 2) by the time that price drop occurs there is a good chance that the DLC on other platforms will have had a price drop or a game of the year edition will have been announced or released on all platforms

So it's a lot more complex an issue than "PS3 owners get everything free now and forever."

If it hadn't struck good balance then it wouldn't have got good reviews. (or there would be a massive amount of whining)

Its great standalone game and there is actually massive amount of whining as with all BioWare games.

If the game you bought only let you access a small portion of the possible stories and much of the content was locked unless you'd played the previous game would you feel like you got a fair deal?

I'm not saying it couldn't have been done well, I'm saying it would have been much more difficult to get the story to work well for what is essentially a gimmick.

The game was meant to allow you to choose ME1 decisions at the start of the game. They probably cut it because the limitations of the transfered content would make it feel stupid.

The "gimmick" is one of the selling points and it was meant to be one of the key feature of the series.

Maybe now that the PS3 crowd is going to jump in soon ... then again who am I kidding? even the ending of ME2 is going to be downplayed in ME3.

A gimmick is a feature meant to distinguish something from it's contemporaries despite having little effect on the product. The idea to have decisions impact the sequels is by definition a gimmick and gimmicks are always "selling points" and "key features".

As I see it it's a better decision to put the effort into making it so the actual gameplay and story are quality than to try and fit a special feature into the final product, especially when it's unknown how many people will actually use the feature.

Ah, my rusty English. My bad. You are right.

It has little to do with gameplay and it could make the story better for those who played the first game.

Considering the way people have been jumping all over this move for putting ME2 on PS3 and also the way some people have been reacting about the little bit of information we have thus far about Dragon Age 2, sadly it would seem the former is true.

What I would point out though that compared to the amount of people who browse the forums (and might not even post) the number is probably quite small and of course the usual reference for that is the 'vocal minority' so to some extent the latter is also true.

People tend to be more vocal about stuff they dislike ... and there are many people on BioWare forums. :)
I think Mass Effect 2 is GotY, but that does not stop me from ***ing.

Bioware set themselves up for ME3 though... Fans will want a ME3 Comic add on so they don't have to trudge through ME2 again. >_>

Then they'll want a ME3 comic so they won't have to play the game at all.

I blame Bioware.

If they released a DLC per week, people wouldn't have time for this. XD j/k

If we're talking about exclusives, let me point out something really quickly. PC and XBOX get ME1, PS3 gets some ****ty comic and a few items. Really? An entire game or a handful of items. Take your pick.

I fully support Mass Effect 2 getting a PS 3 release.
I understand that they need a little intro to make up for ME 1's absence.

I very much do not support them getting items in ME 2 which i do not.

Agreed. Before this clarification I was a little upset that PS3 users would be getting a whole new mission as a lead in. Now that I know what's what, I see that they are getting some good, fair material.

Now, console exclusive games are very common, so it's impossible to avoid. Mass Effect was one of those games. Now that it's being ported to PS3, the game needs to be treated as a cross console game. This means that all updates and add ons need to be provided for all systems: 360, PC and PS3. Reserving exclusive content for only one of those consoles/mediums isn't right. Sure, the PS3 users rejoice now, but then comes along a DLC that only 360 users get, then they complain. So then DLC for PS3 only is released to make up for it.... And repeat as many times as needed until ME3.

In summation and tl;dr - all systems should all be getting the same DLC for ME2, no matter what.

Hey Mr. Houston,

I'm sure you've heard it previously from others but I am a huge Mass Effect fan and I love what you and the talented team at BioWare has done with the series.  I personally love all of the DLC you have released for Mass Effect 2 and I enjoy the game even more where it be new missions, weapons, characters or alternate character outfits that are released.  While I think it's good that ps3 owners are finally going to have a taste of the magnificent universe you have created, please do not leave us xbox360 owners (me being one of them) out of the loop as far as DLC goes.  While I'm aware that the Mass effect 1 interactive comic will be ps3 exclusive, I really would like to have a go at the recon operations pack I've heard about, as well as any and all DLC that is to be released in the future, and I'm sure I'm not the only xbox360 owner who is concerned about this.  I would really like it if you put this into consideration, because at least to me all of the ME2 DLC further expands the story, universe, gameplay and experience, and I love every single bit of it.

Thank you and good look with all of your hard work in future projects.  :)

To all xbox and pc ME2 owners complaining about the included DLC:

Shut up and stop complaining. Its been nearly a year since ME2 original release date for both xbox and PC, the value of the game has gone down simple as that and they need a way to entice PS3 owners to buy ME2. This is really a great marketing idea and I support it completely. As for you xbox pc owners who do not get the dlc with your original purchase of the game back in January, think about this. You got to play the game a year before the PS3 owners did, you got to experience the full effect of the game as it was at its climax, you got more than your moneys worth so its only fair the PS3 onwers get a little extra. I myself own both the PC collectors edition and the xbox regular edition, not only that but I also have purchased all the dlc for the PC version and have looked high and dry and paid quite a bit of money to collect all the DLC for the PC version. Still I do not complain... nuff said.

I have one question, will there be a GoTY Version of Mass Effect 2 for Xbox 360 that will have all of the DLCs and Zaeed already on the disc?

I don't have an Xbox Live, so can't buy from there.

That's a good question, I know what it's like not being able to download extra content so these GOTY editions seem really worth while when the content is on disk.

I think the DAO ultimate edition had content on a disk so bioware may do the same with ME.

But the 360 also has a habit of including 'download tokens' in their GOTY editions (resident evil 5 for example) so We can't be 100% sure what bioware (or EA) will do

Fallout 3 and Fable 2 did it in there GOTY Version when the DLC where included, I don't see why EA or Bioware can't do it.

The main problem with the ME2 release for PS3 is that the game is to expensive.

Im a PS3 owner myself and I would never pay 70€ for the same game I can buy for the PC vor 16€.

Most PS3 player also have a gamepc and the difference is just too much.

And even if they dont have a gamepc, why should they buy a 11 months old game for 70€? There are a lot more games worth buying before.

Not that Im not willing to pay 70€ for games at all, I did that with Uncharted 2, but that was a PS3 Exclusive and it was new at that time.
