Well firstly comparing the PS3 price to the PC price is going to show a disparity. The PC version has always been cheaper than the console version. When the game was released on the PC/360 the PC version was cheaper but that didn't mean people bought the PC version instead of the 360 version.Johnsen1972 wrote...
The main problem with the ME2 release for PS3 is that the game is to expensive. Im a PS3 owner myself and I would never pay 70€ for the same game I can buy for the PC vor 16€. Most PS3 player also have a gamepc and the difference is just too much.
The PS3 version will always be more than the PC version because Sony (like MS) charge a royalty fee of around $10 for each game sold, the PC has no royalty fee. If I compare the prices for my own country both work out quite reasonable :-
PC version = £9.99 + £19.99 + £20.00 = £49.98 (ME 1 + ME 2 + DLC)
PS3 version = £49.99
So if you ask me the pricing of the PS3 version is about right. Not sure where you get that most PS3 gamers have a PC though, but this isn't aimed at them. The PS3 version is aimed at people that want to play Mass Effect 2 on the PS3. It is not in Bioware's interests to canabalise existing sales they want NEW people to buy the game.
Hm I don't know how about because it is a NEW game on the PS3, there are very few examples of games like Mass Effect on the PS3 and it gives you a new experience on the PS3.Johnsen1972 wrote...And even if they dont have a gamepc, why should they buy a 11 months old game for 70€? There are a lot more games worth buying before.
Well why would you re-buy the game ? I see you have already bought and played the game. So I really don't see why you would buy the same game again just to play it on the PS3. The PS3 version is not aimed at people like you, it is aimed at getting people that have never played Mass Effect interested in the game on the PS3.Johnsen1972 wrote... Well I love my PS3 and I love to buy games for PS3 even if they are slightly more expensive, and that exactly why I would buy mass effect 2 again for the PS3. Just because I might want to play ME3 for PS3 and want to import my chars. But right now Im not willing to pay 70€ for a 11 months old game. Thats probably why Im even posting it here, Because I would buy it again if it was in a price range of 30€ which is the average price for 11 months old games on PS3. (e.g. Uncharted 2 Platinum Edition) And I bet Im not the only one on this forum
And I doubt that there are many PS3 owners who havent played ME2 on PC and are willing to buy ME2 for the price of a new game. Im pretty sure ME2 for PS3 will not sell well for 69€ on amazon, you'll see. (Sure a few will still buy it, but not many)
Not really sure, but Im convinced that ME2 could be a huge success for 30€ on PS3, and it would give you a lot more potential customers for ME3. All review sites and game magazins will spread the word that the 11 months old ME2 is definitly worth 30€, and you'll get loads of fun for your bucks. That would draw the attention of new customers!
Mark my words, we both cant predict the future
I will probably wait till it gets a lot cheaper, but then maybe ME3 or DA2 is out and I dont care anymore.

You seem to think that every PS3 owner is in the same situation as you, they aren't. Speaking as a member of a large "financially challenged" group of gamers (university students) I know many who cannot afford to own multiple consoles or top notch gaming pc's. Most are limited to a laptop or an aged desktop as well as a single console.
Then there are the people who don't care about all this nonsense about "console wars" and just buy a game because it looks good. They don't go round comparing graphics and different versions, they buy games because they actually want to play them. These people don't care how much the pc version costs because they don't want to buy the pc version.
There are those who don't have decent internet conditions so want to get the DLC on disk as they have been unable to download it. (Also me)
And finally there are the "fanboys" who will buy any big budget game coming out on ps3 no matter what it is so long as you kill stuff.
So there you go, a small snapshot of those who will buy the game on PS3. I have no doubt the game will sell, it won't beat killzone or anything but it will make a respectable profit.

I fully support Mass Effect 2 getting a PS 3 release.
I understand that they need a little intro to make up for ME 1's absence.
I very much do not support them getting items in ME 2 which i do not.

is fully interactive allowing you to be faced with some of the major choices
does that mean not every choice that got imported from me1 to me2 on the 360 or pc will be in this comic so is it missing parts of the story
if not then its not really worth buying again

The game and (to my knowledge) all the bonus videos etc is on one disk, yes. I have no idea if every choice will be presented though, like arresting the salarian in Noveria or your superfan, I hope so. The playstation magazine article seems to indicate the comic will be huge, with many chapters etc, so who knows, it might just cover everything.

of Bioware games so I gave the original Mass Effect a chance when it was
released on 360. I loved the world, the music, the atmosphere, the adventure,
and the story with all its deep history and revelations.. It's been a busy year for me so somehow I never got around
to buying Mass Effect 2, but I will get the PS3 version on day 1.
I know quite a few people who own PS3s only, who are reluctant to buy this because there is
no Mass Effect 1. The feeling is that they have missed half the story so why
bother with a hand-me-down. It is ashame they won't be able to experience the full game as I feel they
will miss out on the subtleties of just playing the game that leads the gamer
to identify with their version of Shepard.
BUT! The motion-comic should help new PS3 users jump into the world. If this is done with proper and full consideration to the PS3owners mindset, i.e. not a half-hearted 15 minute deal, but a full-phat,
comprehensive experience, 1-2 hours, with all the main events and decisions, then it could be magical. A motion-comic movie of substance. Like a interactive animated movie with a splash of Fighting Fantasy!
I might play a little bit of Mass Effect 1 on my 360 over Christmas to refresh my memory. But for all those potential new owners on PS3, make this 'Mass Effect Genesis' a quality piece of work that Bioware is PROUD to put their name on. If it works it means you gain many new gamers to the Mass Effect franchise, if it is a rushed job then only the hardcore PS3 owners will join Mass Effect and that would be a shame as it is a great story that deserves to be out there.
Q) Also, are there any Mass Effect items, coming to PlayStation Home?

Not that I NEED to play ME or ME2 again, having played them multiple times on my PC anyway XD
however... my PC isn't that good... it can play it JUST... I want to see it in all it's glory-!
I've bought most of the DLC on the PC and probably will do the same again for the PS3 version >.>;;
As someone who has bought the PC version and will buy PS3 version as well I condone exclusives to the PS3 etc... let's face it, exclusives aren't going to be story changing / super important, they're just there to sweeten the deal for buying a game that's a year old.
PC and Xbox have had it longer, stop whining...

Today 08:59 BioWare has reassured PS3 users that their forthcoming version of Mass Effect 2 won't make any sacrifices in its visual and will be "as good, if not better than the Xbox version"."Oftentimes when you go to the PS3 you see stuff like down-ressing and using a smaller than 720p resolution to try and get back some of the framerate," producer Jess Huston told the Official PlayStation Magazine (according to a post on NeoGAF."We haven't done that. We really wanted to try to make it as good, if not better than the Xbox version."As well as preserving the game's graphics, BioWare is including "three years' worth of engine updates" and every patch and piece of downloadable content for the game, which adds up to $100 and 20 hours of additional gameplay, the developer reckons. The exclusive interactive comic telling the story of the first Mass Effect game – which was never released on PS3 – is described as "a save game generator".Good to know. The game's out in January, one year after the Xbox 360 and PC versions, and it's quite good.

Seriously, if the comic has any of the side-stuff in it, I'll probably let out a manly squee. Also means rather than just making a paragon version of 'Jack' Shepard (avatar) I might replay the renegade version too but alter his 'default' past to include some of the stuff 'default' shep didn't access (side quests).
Anyway due to my PC being screwed at moment and me not having a decent job for me to afford to get it replaced, am going to be super happy when ME2 comes to PS3 as it means I'll be able to get around to doing a playthrough I had lined up for the PC also means I'll finally get to play LotSB AND pluck up the courage to try an 'Insanity' playthrough (even though I usually only play on easy/normal).
Going back to the comic, someone in it needs to be seen saying "Enemies are everywhere!" or it truly won't capture the ME story

Does anyone know when the release date is? Have they said that yet?
The only info I have found with regard to a release date for the PS3 version was an Italian website that stated it would be released on the 21st January 2011 (Friday). If that date is correct then that obviously refers to a European release (Euro releases are on a Friday). Traditionally North America gets the game three days earlier on a Tuesday so it fits that the NA date would be the 18th January 2011.
This hasn't been confirmed by Bioware I am just passing on what I read. You can view the website yourself here :-

It is a pretty bad translation (but aren't they always) however you can clearly see they state the 21st January.

Yes, I noticed a few days ago that GAME (UK game selling company) has it listed as 21st January too, I then decided to see if GAMESTOP had a date listed for it and according to their site a few days ago they had it listed as 11th January. So if that is true, then people in the US/Canada your just over 5 weeks away from ME2 goodness on PS3 (whilst us in Europe are 7 weeks away exactly).charmingcharlie wrote...

The wiki says: "It has recently be revealed that there are about 1000 variables in Mass Effect 3 which will change, depending on the choices one made in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2"
But if BW wants to be "fair" to the PS3 players, they won't include the variables which are "exclusive" to PC and XBOX
Am I making any sense?

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed before or if I'm posting this in the wrong thread but is it safe to assume that the decisions that are going to be made in the PS3 "pre-campaign", i.e. the ME1 decisions, will be the only ones which will have any impact in ME3 on the other platforms as well? For example, it is unlikely that gathering Matriarch writings will be in the PS3 pre-campaign, does that mean that my gathering the writings in ME1 on the PC will have no effect in ME3?

they will make the decisions of me1 for you, just like they did if you played me2 without an imported character.
