Hey nobody forced you to buy the game and DLC from day one. If I buy a game from day one and a year later there's a cheaper version incl. the DLC I can't complain. Because I decided to buy it as soon as possible.
So I see no good reason for Bioware to reimburse anyone for the DLC (except if there was a major flaw in your DLC of course, like it won't install or something)

PS: has anyone found an answer to my question on page 67 about the blood dragon armor?

Thanks in advance.

I think this is different. After the release of mass effect 2 for ps3 in a few months it should go down in price but at the moment it should be full price and dlc price included. for them it is not considered an old game but a new game that they are getting an amazing deal on. xbox and pc users got a crap deal for getting it straight away. the ps3 users are getting a much better deal out of this

Ah, but if you consider it a new game then you can't see it as DLC but just another part of the original game and therefore they should be included in the standard price (the price without DLC). Because we would have no idea that those things were DLC.

Unless I 'm mistaken about what you mean with "a new game" of course

Well that maybe true but it is kind of like saying here is how you get your new game and here is how they got there their new game. for ps3 users it doesnt really count as dlc but at the very least it is extra content in their games. there is no need to make it a better deal for ps3 owners in retrospect it screws over pc and xbox owners.

What most of you complaining don't seem to realize is that PS3 players are faced with disadvantages that 360 and pc players weren't, namely getting the game 1 YEAR after you did, and the fact we don't even get access to Mass Effect 1. I would have gladly traded a GOTY Mass Effect 2 edition for the ability to play it a year earlier and access to the first game. Stop crying because they actually throw us a bone. I know most of you complainers are children who have nothing better to do, but what they give as a bonus in response to the above noted disadvantages has no bearing on your happiness. If you think it's unfair, then perhaps they should delay Mass Effect 3 for 360 users and give you a superior version a year later. You ok with that?

I fully agree with you and your statement (I'm an adult PS3 owner by the way)

Let's all stop whining about DLC or standard and enjoy this great, great game.

That is a completely different way of looking at it. But hey whatever doesn't really matter because nothing we say is going to change how this is dealt with. Enjoy the game when you get it.

I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I can't be bothered looking through pages and pages of comments. It's a simple question, will I eventually be able to get the Terminus gear or recon pack for PC, saying as both those DLCs could only be obtained in the states, whereas I'm in the UK. I don't suppose any one might know, perhaps?

I just feel that EVERY piece of DLC that I bought for my Xbox version of ME2 should be able to be transferred onto my PS3 version when I buy the PS3 ME2 next week. I understand some of the big DLC packs will be included with the disc, and that's exactly the right thing to do since they're selling the game for the standard new release price of $60 (which is acceptable since it's been a year since the xbox release), but the other items that were never released on XBL Marketplace that actually stayed sacred (the Collectors' Armor & Assault Rifle - except for the day they gave it away for free by error, then removed it forever) should be able to transfer to my PS3 game through the Cerberus Network just like it was possible to do if I went and bought the PC version of the game. To my knowledge, the PC version wasn't even a "Games for Windows" made game, so being that the XBL link wasn't even present between the Xbox 360 and PC versions, technically, the content should have been exclusive between each version. Being that you could activate ANY armor code or DLC pack for Xbox then also have it available for the PC, in the end, at least if you already bought the Xbox Collector's Edition of ME2, it should be available for download onto your PS3.

I know the few DLC packs being included for "free" in the PS3 version make it a little better, but honestly, since you can still buy the xbox version for $20 and if you were like me and bought every DLC item that came out when it did, you paid a ton extra. Now to buy the PS3 version at full new release price and not be able to transfer the few DLC items I already paid top dollar for (and then even more with the collector's edition), in a sense, I'm paying twice or three times for content that should rightfully be transferred for free.

I understand the marketing side of things, but what Bioware doesn't seem to understand is that they can put all the DLC on the PSN for full price just as they did on XBL, not include it in the full price & on the Disc and sell the PS3 title at a "reduced price" and still make just as much if not more. I suppose that the main reason that isn't happening is because you don't want to be charged a fortune in fees from Sony every time someone downloads the DLC, so it makes it easier (and CHEAPER for you) to just add it onto the game disc, but seriously, think about the LOYAL Xbox fans who bought EVERYTHING for the Xbox and now are getting the PS3 version.because they love the game so much.

Any and all DLC not included on the PS3 disc (or the limited time Terminus Armor on PSN) that Xbox users bought should appear on that nice little page on their Bioware profile that says all the activated/redeemed codes and content available right along side of the xbox and PC version DLC. I wanna see the entire list grow a third time, listing every piece of DLC . . . and by that I mean I wanna see my Collectors' Armor (and others) listed 3 separate times, xbox version, PC version and PS3 version. If you felt generous enough to give all PC users the ability to just simply "download" the add-on if they had the xbox code activated when both game versions weren't even XBL and Games for Windows compatible, you should be more than generous and do the same for the PS3 version. And don't feed me any of that, "Sony isn't in agreement with offering previous owners free content that they already own due to network restrictions" because you are easily going to double or triple your ME2 total sales profits with this PS3 switchover, so I think you could easily handle the little $100k fees for all the free downloads for pre-existing code owners.

Take care of your loyal fans. I am just one of many who will be buying the game on the PS3 and funny enough, I bought it originally for xbox, then for my PC. I think it's time to reward loyal fans with what they're just entitled to . . . content they already own. I don't even want "exclusive" PS3 content, I just want everything I got on my redeemed code page to have the PS3 available icon next to my Xbox & PC icons.

Many of us talk as if gaming is a right, somehow incorporated into the Constitution of some sort.

"We want this!"

"We deserve that!"

"Rawr Rawr Rawr Rawr Rawr!"

You may think BioWare is right or wrong, but regardless - It's a privilege folks.

@Solomon

Yes gaming is a privilege, but privilege or not, you want your money's worth right?
I use gaming as a way to relax (that's why I rarely play shooters online:-D too stressful for me)so when I buy a game I want it too be relaxing and not full of annoying little flaws.

And BioWare actually listents to it's gamer on these forums. So that's why we complain and whine and demand loads of things, in the hope they actually make it to the game.

Now I'm not from the US (so PLEASE don't be offended by this) but isn't the pursuit of happiness in the American constitution, and if gaming makes you happy ... it's kind of in the constitution.Image IPB

Chris Priestly, the Bioware community coordinator said on the PlayStation US Blog :

"PlayStation fans have been asking for Mass Effect for years and we are
very pleased to finally be bringing it to a new branch of Mass Effect
fans. However, what I think Mass Effect fans on the PS3 will be most
appreciative of is that this is not a simple port. The Mass Effect team
has taken the time to utilise the PS3 hardware to the fullest in order
to maximise your gameplay experience. It was also extremely important
for the team to make sure playing with the PS3 controller worked and
felt good. You will also see that the in-game graphics and cinematics
are clearer and more vibrant on the PS3.
As an added bonus, the PS3
version includes previously released DLC missions: Overlord, Lair of the
Shadow Broker and Kasumi.
"

This comment along with that of the executive producer, Casey Hudson that it is 'the definitive version', and graphics comparison people Digital Foundry is highlighting that contrary to reviews of the demo, the PlayStation 3 version does deliver.

Not immediately dismissing these comments, but come on, of course they're praising the PS3 version, it has to sell. And why wouldn't the PS3 version not deliver? The game was already awesome on 360 and PC, it could only be improved.

I remember asking this question months ago without reply, but perhaps now that we are closer to the PS3 launch i might get some word -

I would like to know if PC Gamers will eventually get a piece of these "enhanced graphics and cinematics". I ask as many of the PC gaming crowd do play on high end gaming machines and usually play at full 1080p resolution or higher on their HDTV's; and alot of the texturing we've had to endure is, well, its been unpleasant to say the least. We've managed to get by though, for the most part anyway, and those of us who really cant live with it have resorted to moding ME2 with texmod. The only issue is that you suffer severe performance loss by using it.

Perhaps a "HD Enhancement" mod for the PC version could be put together in your spare time Bioware? Thanks again! =)

Hey Folks,

For those that don't know, I am the Producer responsible for Mass Effect 2 PS3.  Some of you may have read over on the German forums some of the details on Mass Effect 2 PS3's contents.  I'd like to provide some clarity as I believe that there was some translation errors in the interview that Casey gave.

Firstly I'd like to talk about what's on the BluRay Disc;  Of course Mass Effect 2 will be included.  On top of that, Lair of the Shadow Broker, Project Overlord, Kasumi: Stolen Memory and the Blood Dragon Armour.

Also included is, as on Xbox 360 and PC, an access code to the Cerberus Network.  This will give you instant access to the same great lineup of Downloadable Content such as Zaeed and Firewalker.

We've talked briefly about the Interactive Comic.  BioWare Edmonton (the group that made Mass Effect 2) teamed up with the fine folks at Dark Horse Comics to create an interactive backstory.  While I can't release all the details about this yet, what I can tell you is that we want to create a stunning visual experience that not only tells the core story elements of  Mass Effect 1, but also is fully interactive allowing you to be faced with some of the major choices which will have consequences your Mass Effect universe.  This interactive comic's initial release will be exclusive to PS3 owners who would be otherwise unable to realize the full effect of choice in the Mass Effect universe and will be included on the Cerberus Network.

There will also be some DLC Bundles, such as the Aegis Pack as well as exclusive both Free and Paid DLC for all PlayStation 3 owners such as the Recon Operations Pack.
Edit: While I can't go into details all of this content is or was available to Xbox/PC Owners but otherwise wouldn't be available to PS3 owners
More details about this will be released later. ;)

I want also to touch on the '6 hour exclusive mission'.  This I believe is a communication error lost in translation.  When we talk about 6 hours of content we are talking about what's included exclusively "On Disc" (Kasumi, Shadow Broker, Overlord), The Interactive Back Story and the Cerberus Network Access.

Words can not express how very pleased I am to be able to bring this BioWare title to our PlayStation fans.

Lastly - As we're still a little while away from shipping this game, therefor some of these details are subject to changing.

-Jess

ps The the team is in the final polishing phase now and the game is looking fantastic!  I can't wait to talk more about it and show more of it soon!

This is so wrong. if you own a 360 you still have to pay for lotsb and other etc yet if u have a ps3 have it free. im sorry but thats just saying hey xbox fans you open ur wallets and pay us for dlc u can get free if u own a ps3. also unfair to those loyal fans who bought the dlc on day of release only to find that others get it free. so do we get a refund then? ofc we dont.

Nah, they're paying for it. They're paying for it bundled with the main game.

If you were a 360 owner, you'd pay for the main game for about $20 and then pay for the DLC separately for about $26. Which is still cheaper than what the PS3 players are paying for the lot.

ETA: Also, XBox Live Gold members recently got to purchase the DLC on sale.

Hang on a min i paid £40 $69.99 for the game as i got it on day of release and £20 $30 on dlc so i should be penalised for buying it new?

You know PS3 folk get it a year later and let's say I bought it a year later on 360 it costs $20. Now let me buy all the DLC, it totals $55, what's that I get the option to not buy DLC I do not want then I can pay less than $55.

All in all if you buy it day one and complaining now then your argument is weak. If you had waited a year you still have to pay to get LotSB but so do they only in their case it's cleverly disguised as "free content". And not only is the "free content" not free when you take the time it was released on PS3 and the fact that the PS3 version is still $5 more than the 360 and PC version with all the DLC, they are forced into a package deal so if they aren't intersted in a specific DLC they don't have the option of not paying for it.

Hope that helped:)

When it comes to products you have to understand that the price lowers as time goes by it's the same with all products. If you're going to complain about this might as well complain about everything being sold ever because that's how the whole selling products work.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Nobody forced you to buy the game from day one. I did it with fallout3, a GOTY edition came and yeah I was bummed about it but I had been playing it for like a year already so ... .
If you buy it from day one you're not allowed to complain about cheaper GOTY editions (because thats basically what the PS3 version is)

How is this different when a game company puts out a Game of the Year edition? It happens all the time... A game comes out, people jump on it and buy it for $60. New DLC comes out. New expansions come out. People buy those separately.

A year later, sales have dropped. Everybody who was going to play the game has played it. The game company releases the original game, plus all the expansions in a special edition to try and stir up interest again.

Feeling that Bioware is somehow ripping you off for re-selling a game that you've been playing and presumably enjoying for a year doesn't make any sense. They're not taking anything away from you, are they?

I mentioned this in the other PS3 thread. Their main goal isn't to try and get people to rebuy a game they already bought. It's not to try and make people who want to play on one platform jealous of another.

They just want to introduce Mass Effect to a bunch of people who so far have been denied a terrific gaming experience. How can anyone who loves the game think this is a bad thing? I don't know about everybody else, but I WANT more people playing one of my favorite games.
