Jeez, you guys gotta be the biggest bunch of whiny babies that ever existed. But I'm looking forward to finally getting to play ME on my playstation.

I hear you on that.

I'm glad you get to play ME2 finally. I just with they could given you a factual summary of the first game. It seems like something that was thrown together over a weekend.

It is a shame that PS3 owners can't play ME1 on their console. But I would say to PS3 only gamers that Mass Effect 2 is a great jumping on point in a AAA series that is going to grow. Decisions taken in ME2 will have a relevance in the threequel Mass Effect 3.

Moving forward the the first review of the PS3 version is out and it is glowing with praise.

IGN USA say

It's perfectly natural for gamers to be wary of jumping into the Mass Effect
series with the second game, but BioWare has delivered a compelling
package that does its best to quell any uncertainty with skipping the
first title. It's worth noting that the original Mass Effect is a
different game in many respects from Mass Effect 2, so in terms of
gameplay, you're getting the better experience right off the bat. And
while Mass Effect 2 is certainly a story-driven affair related directly
to the original title, you'll have access to an in-game comic book
feature that explains the story of the first game and lets you make
choices that will affect your playthrough of the sequel. Combine that
with the fact that Mass Effect 2 on PS3 has a slew of DLC extras and
even an upgraded game engine, and you'll be struck by the obvious: Mass
Effect 2 on the PlayStation 3 is the best, most complete version of the
game available. Sorry, Xbox 360 version. You were good. But this is better."

What a ridiculous conclusion. Of course the PS3 version is better: it's released a year later so naturally BioWare is going to improve it. That and the included DLC makes it a bigger package.

It's marketing bullcrap, nothing more.

The PS3 version of the game is better value at launch than the PC and 360 version of the game. The PC and 360 version of games are better because you get experience in total. None of the "extra's" make up for the loss of ME1. ME2 for PS3 is essentially a GOTY edition as it includes all of the DLC release up until now.

This is even more painful due to the fact that this is one of the two reasons that I got the X360 entirely. The other reason was Halo Reach, and that was a bad move. Why did I get the X360???

I hate the fact that there is only 1 disc in the PS3 version.

 I hate those second discs.

Painfulness and regret in my eyes.

Hopefully I can return my X360 before the 60 day trial runs out.

Ok, happy that the PS3 crowd is jumping in on the ME action and while it's great they're getting what's arguably the "best" version of ME2, I just want to know the following:

- Will the Collector's armour/rifle be made available to non-CE ME2 owners on 360/PC? I already have it but while it will essentially be made available to all PS3 owners via the Recon Operations Pack, I think that kind of disparity needs to be addressed. As for the rest of the items in the RO Pack, will they ever be made available again? That Dr Pepper promo was exclusive to the US. ME fans in the rest of the world had to jump through hoops to get them and even then, a lot of them didn't.

- The Blood Dragon armour; I went out and bought Dragon Age just to get it but couldn't download it since it's not available where I am (long story). Will that be placed on the XB Marketplace? At the very least it may become accessible to me as I don't have any other means of getting it other than migrating my XBL account to a region that offers it.... Which I can only do in 11 months. I see PS3 owners get it free in on the ME2 disc...

- And the Terminus armour... I've seen a fair bit of rage over how the PS3 crowd can get it free, even if it is for a limited time, but I'd be happy to pay for it if it was made available for 360.

I just think all the content should be made available to everyone. The "exclusive" content promotions of this console gen have been a constant headache for me.

That's a question I'd like answered too. The way the whole Dr Pepper thing was handled stands as an example of how not to release promotional DLCs. It was practically guaranteed to annoy a boatload of people (specifically anyone who isn't american).

The fact that all this silly hoop-jumping has just been wiped out for the PS3 players seems like a bit of a kick in the teeth, to be honest. I was even considering getting the PS3 version, but to be honest, I'm not really sure I can be bothered.

i would like to see the Recon Operations Pack on the xbox 360 as well, and for people who just bought the game, it would be nice to see all content available for purchase.

It won't be
Face it Bioware is too worried about the PS3 now.

Well, BioWare included all these items in the PS3 version because they wouldn't be able to get those items otherwise. So Jaywest69 has a point: someone who buys the 360 or PC version now cannot get his hands on those items either. The Dr. Pepper promotion has ended, you obviously cannot pre-order anymore and I doubt it's easy to get your hands on a CE now.

Funny thing is, that many people are worried about exact opposite. That these npc´s and and email friends are not gonna show up in ME 3 because of PS 3 version.

Join my group to promote a DLC pack to get Conrad Verner and such into the PS3 version.

It was a great rendition, but as stated above, I want the ME1 sidequests.

this is unfair bioware. its wonderful that you allow ps3 users to have the experience to play mass effect 2 but releasing exclusive content, like terminus armor for the ps3 only is unfair to xbox 360 users who can't get it and I'm not forking $60 just to get these contents.

BE SMARTER BIOWARE. you only making things worse

I just gotta say this is bull****...I spend around $100 in total ( Collectors edition and all DLC minus costumes ) and PS3 gets all of it for free. And assuming Xbox360 fans of mass effect can stomach that much now PS3 gets an exclusive...should I even want ME3??
FYI Bioware, Exclusives Ruin Games!

your lucky that you get the collectors edition, i don't and the rest of the promo dlc will never be in my hands yet ps3 gets EVERY*******THING while we can't get it:(

What most of you complaining don't seem to realize is that PS3 players are faced with disadvantages that 360 and pc players weren't, namely getting the game 1 YEAR after you did, and the fact we don't even get access to Mass Effect 1. I would have gladly traded a GOTY Mass Effect 2 edition for the ability to play it a year earlier and access to the first game. Stop crying because they actually throw us a bone. I know most of you complainers are children who have nothing better to do, but what they give as a bonus in response to the above noted disadvantages has no bearing on your happiness. If you think it's unfair, then perhaps they should delay Mass Effect 3 for 360 users and give you a superior version a year later. You ok with that?

I think this is different. After the release of mass effect 2 for ps3 in a few months it should go down in price but at the moment it should be full price and dlc price included. for them it is not considered an old game but a new game that they are getting an amazing deal on. xbox and pc users got a crap deal for getting it straight away. the ps3 users are getting a much better deal out of this

Ah, but if you consider it a new game then you can't see it as DLC but just another part of the original game and therefore they should be included in the standard price (the price without DLC). Because we would have no idea that those things were DLC.

Unless I 'm mistaken about what you mean with "a new game" of course

Well that maybe true but it is kind of like saying here is how you get your new game and here is how they got there their new game. for ps3 users it doesnt really count as dlc but at the very least it is extra content in their games. there is no need to make it a better deal for ps3 owners in retrospect it screws over pc and xbox owners.

really what disadvantage, xbox and pc face disadvantage on exclusive dlc that ps3 is getting. think it this way, you have two a son and a daughter, you only give the son $80 to buy something and didn't give the daughter anything. after a while you give the daughter who didn't get the money $160 and 100 more to make up for giving her the money late. when your son ask for $180 to make the same amount the daughter has, you just denied him because its only fair that she gets more for being late. now thats not fair isn't:(

I'll bet all you idiots touting "fairness" weren't whistling the same tune last January.... What would have been "fair" is a PS3 version one year ago. It isn't Sony's fault this is coming a year late, it's the fault of the producers (having said that: thank you SO much for bringing ME to the PS3 guys!). Oh, and before I get placed on any side in this overblown console war: I own both a 360 and a PS3. I bought the CE of ME2 day one and ordered the PS3 version as soon as I could (I'm oversees). End.

I'm fine with what they are getting. It is expected for them to get better graphics, one disc usage and some DLC that is just not available period. I got to play the game before they did. Neener neener neener. I get to say that I got to play one of the best games ever before they did. They are getting the same stuff I did, but is no longer available. I know some people may object to that, but they are still offering the same support across all platforms. You know what irks me. Bioshock Infinite's support of the Move, but not Kinect support. Mortal Kombat's Kratos vs Xbox 360s nothing. That kind of exclusivity bothers me and is why I did not buy MK and will not be buying BSI. You look at FF13 and how they "downgraded" the game a bit in content just to make it equal across all platforms, everyone still wonders if that sea monster in those caves was meant to be fought, everyone says it may have been taken out due to content size and the disc capacity of the HDDVD. I bought the game, I own the game and I kept the game. Infinite, probably I'll buy it second hand, off ebay or maybe rent it from Gamefly, but having been a loyal fan of the franchise I feel cheated to be cast aside just because I have the xbox 360, which is still the most sold of the current generation of games, and because I have a Kinect, the fastest selling electronic in history. When ME3 comes out, I will enjoy knowing that we have voice recognition to use from the Kinect, not sure what kind of support the PS3 will have, but I'm sure headset commands may be implemented, different voice pick up system, but same thing none the less. When ME3 comes out in 2012, same time as BSI, I'll be in line to get my Shepard on and give my money to those that listened to the fans.

Don't be greedy. We've had plenty of time to enjoy it, games do this all the time when they re-release a goty version. If I go out and bought ME2 right now, with how cheap it is compared to what I spent at launch, I could by all the DLC and still save money.

*bump*

Why should I have to pay for the Playstation-peoples DLCs? They could have just ported both games and DLCs to PS3 but noooooo.

No, they couldn't have.  Microsoft owns the console rights to ME1.  Also, what makes you think you're subsidising PS3 DLC?
