I decided to fire up Dagon Age again and noticed the patch banner on the launcher, I came here to the site, downloaded 1.04 and installed it. I then decided to pick up some of the DLC that has come out since my first playthough including Wich Hunt. All of the DLC installed sucessfuly except Wich Hunt.

When I try to install Wich Hunt in game it downloaded, extracts and then throws an error, because of this I tried downloading the stand-alone install.

When I run the stand-alone Wich Hunt installer it launches and tries to apply 1.04, says that it can not install 1.04 and therefore aborts. Details window is as follows:

Installing update: DragonAge1.04.exe
Failed to apply required Dragon Age: Origins patch 1.04. Aborting install.
Completed

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Try running the stand-alone patcher as administrator.  That solution worked for many people (me included) in this thread here.

If you are getting an error while installing the DLC, it is most likely because the encoding of AddIns.xml was changed to ANSI or another incompatible format. To fix this, open up AddIns.xml in Notepad, go to File>Save As... and MAKE SURE the encoding is set to UTF-8. Save AddIns.xml in the same spot, overwriting the original. This should fix your installation problems! i dont anything about the patch...it was pretty straightforward with the patch, but when i tried to install witch hunt i got this problem.

Turned out it managed to fix it self, played a new character for a while and the next time I started the game Witch Hunt had successfully installed.

sorry that didnt work for me still saying failed to instal 1.04 and i have looked at the suggested files in note pad and they say UTF-8...im not tekky so help?
