While this game does not have a New Game +, you can still continue to play after the ending, sort of. You can load a save from a finished game and alk around your house and it tells you that to continue further you need to purchase the DLC.

Very sad.

You know, I took some time to think about it and I figured I should add this to the list of reasons for why DA2 should have NG+. As 60DollarsWasted said, you can only play afterwards if you purchase DLC, but think back to DA:O. We had the same situation there and the ONLY DLC that could apply to was Vigil's Keep, Return to Ostagar, and Shale. Everything else was independent of the main game. So unless DA2 does differently (which I kind of doubt), add this to the list of reasons for adding NG+

Being a big ME fan, I was disappointed with no New Game + in the DA series, but I've learned to live with it.

Still, it's a very good point jbh61987 makes. Having to lvl up a completely new char or keep an uncompleted char around to experience dlc sounds like a bad design decision to me. It got to the point where I literally did not complete the game ever with my main character for fear I would miss out on dlc in DAO.

Honestly, dlc seems like the trend nowadays and giving us New Game + would add incentive to purchase them. Everyone wins.

if nothing else make a new game+ where you start off as normal, but when you get home you have the full set of the champion armor, your weapon and accessories, in the special DLC chest. Thus allowing you to keep your gear and still look awesome, but still requiring you to lvl up like you did on a normal play through so you have the right attributes to wear it.

Idk about any other mages out there, but i hated running around in "mage robes", or "noble dresses" for virtually the whole game.

Agreed, adds replay value if anything =) And it's fun to see the various different routes that a character can take without always having to start 'new'.

new game plus would be awesome it would give the player a chance to complete other magic or skill charts and they could also add in an achievement for that something like master warrior or master mage for completeing every skill chart for those classes and u could become all 3 specializations if they add another skill point

i hope that they'd release a patch sooner or later that might do it, mostly for the reasons previously said, i enjoyed getting my level up on awakening after completing origins, where u got the extra speciallisation point to use. so yes to New Game +

Nevermind that DA:O didn't have a NG+ either

NG+ seems to be a way to build replay value into a game that doesn't have any.  i've never played a role-playing game that had NG+.  i've replayed them because i wanted to play as a different kind of a character.  for some of us, DAO didn't need NG+ because the experience of the game and the ability to make different choices was so vast that it justified multiple playthroughs.  i feel the same way about Fallout 3.

given that these choices have been vastly reduced in DA2, i can see why there would be hope for a NG+ option.

of course, the fact that this is desirable says something about DA2 versus DAO.  not that one is better than the other, merely that DA2 really shouldn't be compared to DAO because it's trying to be something different.

I'd like to have new game + come out along with some new dlc. I really want to play my rogue I finished the game on over so I can get the champions arms(chest piece) that I somehow missed. That character was the best one I've ever made in any game as far as the way he looks and I'd like to play more with him to get his assassin ability tree maxed. I'm hesitant to spend any of my ms points I have on ME2 because i'd love to spend more on DA2. I really hope this thread gets large and Bioware takes a look at it. New Game + would be perfect for this game.

Yeah i was sorta expecting since Origins didn't have a new-game+ that they would learn from that and make it happen on Dragon Age 2 but unfortunately they didn't id really want a new game plus I would level my warrior who hasn't had a legitimate good armor because the fact of getting stats up to wear the ser Issac armor from the dead space 2 offer i could never get my strength up high enough by the end of the game so id love a new game plus

I would love to have new game plus so that i can continue to level up my Mage's skill tree. I guess i was assuming there would be because of ME2 but I hope they do decide to make a NG+. would really increase the replay vaule ten fold, at least for me it would

No! Then you might not buy the DLC and EA can't have that.

And, you expected to be able to... why?

This is priceless. People are complaining that DAII is too much like Origins.

NG+ is a complete 180 from the concept of 'Role Playing'.  Never did it in ME1 or ME2 and I found it annoying that to build the 'optimum' shepherd for xfer from ME1 to ME2, you had to do it.

Why would your character get to redo 10 years of his/her life, but with all of the combat prowess he/she learned in the last 10 years?

...

EDIT: that being said, I have played DA:O, ME1, and ME2 more than once... but with different characters starting from scratch.

This is a must, we all agree that the NG+ will bring some fun in to the game, due to the fact it felt kind of short in dungeons and places to go. Even if they just let you keep all of the items you collected on the first game will be awesome they can put a patch that allowed you to get all of your items when you go to the Black Emporium and collec them as the free items in weapons discarted. And the idea of completing all the specialty trees as a mage will be great.:alien:

It would certainlly up the replay value for me personally. As it stands, once the console version patch is released, Ill only have two more playthroughs (making a total of 5). before I am done with the game forever. Where as a NG+ option would easily triple, or quadruple that number for me. Hell probably even more. Sorry but 5 playthroughs is simply not enough for me to justify "buying" a game like this. I simply should have just rented it.

Make no mistake, I am SOOOOO not holding my breath on this one. It'd be nice if it happened, but the likelihood of it actually happening is pretty close to, if not 0 entirely.

Because Dragon Age 2 is a game, not real life, and the point of games is to have fun.

Honestly, with the new game plus features in Mass Effect 1 and 2 I was sort of expecting it to be in Dragon Age 2. As soon as I beat it I went to the main menu looking for the 'New Game+' option. A major disappointment.

A RPG without any kind of continue after end game,or loading a beaten game is stupid. I remember the old days where the second playthru and 3rd playthru have tougher bosses and different loots and different enemies as well. Borderlands did something similar to it, exactly they were just higher level enemies.

Whatever reason they have for not including one is excuses.  There is no logical reason not to have a newgame+ mode, other than lazy, or not enough time.
