Wonder why people didnt want to romance Wrex as well? I was Fighter Forever on the old forums. I remember Thane was the most popular romance prerelease thanks to the video of when you meet him. Seems all the fangirls prefer Garrus and Kaiden now.

It would be too cliche if we discovered that there were still living Protheans. They need to think of something better than that.

They most likely gave up since Wrex can die... At least for VS one of them has to survive. Thus making it easier to implement either or in any scenerio.

I personally would welcome a Prothean... Though since Fans love to tap anything it would have to be a LI as well.

I bet some fans are still mad that Samara rejected their Shepard.

Nah most people save Wrex. I'd say more people have Wrex alive in their ME2 games than Kaidan.

They can save him but he can also die. One of the VS HAS to survive ME1. That's why it's easier to implement them in. They're both in the Alliance and it wouldn't be hard just switching them out with eachother for appearances.

Though how they treated Wrex in ME2 is depressing.

Well Wrex will probably be more helpful uniting the Krogan than fighting alongside you. You don't have a shortage of capable squadmates and Grunt is arguably better in combat then Wrex except for the biotics.

I like the idea of a Prothean AI Shep and crew uncover instead of a living prothean but given that on Illios you had geth armatures being used as more or less gun turrents its safe to say the Protheans came up with the geth then after their destruction the Quarians rediscovered it on their own kind of like the Baghdad battery they had it then lost it we rediscovered it on our own now we have stronger batteries then they ever did. I imagine a Prothan AI would be a less fancy geth but having that and Legion interacting together would be interesting.

i think wrex is far better then grunt in combat. grunt has cuncusive shot which sucks, an ammo power, and a defensive ability although the claymore is mighty awesome with grunt. id rather take throw, warp, immunity, barrier, and wrex is way more awesome then grunt. maybe ME3 will add a little more to grunt, but wrex is king of the krogans.you dont get to be king of the krogans by being second rate.

and how come someone wants to have a LI with a prothean? those beedy ellow eyes, that scalley skin. i guess as long as harbinger assumes direct controll of them, itd be aight. id rather have harbinger as a squadmate. i think ill make a topic about that.

...the Quarians created the geth.

I think having a Prothean squad mate could be pretty awesome, if done right, but honestly, making it an LI too would just be too much.

I like the idea that it could be one of Ilos's scientists, squirelled away on the Citadel. I mean, they were able to reprogram the Keepers to ignore the Reaper's signal, it seems logical to me they could've reprogrammed them to maintain a stasis pod. Just enough to say "hey, this is important, this is part of the Citadel core systems, keep it going", and they would. I mean, no one's ever asked what the Citadel is powered by, whatever it is, it's clearly been running for millions of years.

Or else heck, it could've been on any other Prothean world. If the details of the Prothean presence in the Pangaea Expanse were erased from Citadel records during the intial Reaper attack, another system's records could've been erased the same way. It could even be a system no race has ever explored this cycle, I mean, it's implied there are many relays that no species has ever activated, after the whole Rachni mess, yet it's stated the Prothean Empire covered every relay in the galaxy.

And sure, Vigil struggled to keep power for all those stasis pods for just a few centuries, but, he was starting with thousands and thousands of pods. Slowly, over time, he had to cut power to some, then more, then more, until it was finally whittled down to 12. But who's to say he couldn't have kept a single pod going longer, much longer, if that was all he'd had to begin with? And yes, he said there were no other Protheans, but he only said "that he knew of". They even sent out the warning about the Reapers across the beacon network, not for future races, but for any potential surviving Protheans they hadn't heard from.

I also think it'd be a great thing to learn what the Protheans were really like. I mean, we don't know much about them, other than talking to Vigil, all we have is stuff the Reapers strategically left behind for us to find. They're made out to be this pacifistic race of beings with a thirst for knowledge. Like librarian monks. But maybe that's just the image the Reapers wanted to portray? For all we know, the Prothean we could find could be a kick ass warrior (as cliched as that might be).

Final thought - I saw a few people say "who would put the last surviving member of a race like the Protheans on such a dangerous mission as Shepard's quest to destroy the Reapers?" Well, two things. One, if that mission fails, everyone in the galaxy dies, whether they were on the mission or not. Two, the Reapers wiped out his entire civilisation, and Shepard is the one fighting back. What kind of spineless squidface would say "nah, you guys go ahead, I'm just going to try to get my old quarters back on the Citadel"?

The Protheans are vastly more interesting because we know very little about them. Bare in mind Vigil said himself that the Scientists didn't believe they would, and never did receive any response to the beacon. Granted the Protheans were likely highly suspicious at that point and would have been wary of going to Ilos incase it was some trap set by the Reapers to round up the survivors, but I don't know. I like that the Protheans are gone. Don't get me wrong i'd be all for finding out that some other Protheans survived, but I like the idea that similar to the Ilos scientists they didn't have sufficient genetic variation to maintain a population and so eventually went extinct. Maybe they put all their knowledge into some AI that is hidden somewhere, that'd be good, but I don't want them to be alive and well.
