My prediction on the 2nd female LI and Male LI

I strongly believe Varric is a LI. He is being advertised more then any other companion and it seems he knows more about hawke then anyone else. plus i've heard devs make hints they wanted to write a dwarf romance. So since we have 2 of each class now, that leaves a male mage LI.
So that is what I think and I am prolly completely wrong, so don't take this serious.

Hmm...does anyone know who was the first male character (besides the male warden) first advertised for Dragon Age: Origins? I'd guess Alistair, but I didn't start reading the DA:O forum until a few months before release.
I think it was Dog.
Then Alistair, yes.

I know DG said he wouldn't like to write one at all.

IIRC a dev wrote that they might eventually want to write a dwarf LI. Something along those lines.GodWood wrote...

On the Varric front one promising thing is that he is written by Mary Kirby who hasn't expressed any dislike of the idea of a Dwarf love interest for humans (like DG has), in fact she plays along with a lot of the stuff we say in the Varric thread. Not proof that she wants to write a Dwarf romance or anything, but added to all the other things we know about Varric (such as his being irrisistable to the opposite sex) then I think we should keep the optimism flowing!

I wouldn't mind Aveline as a romance option...it could be an opportunity to do something very different. She strikes me as not being very flirtatious, nor particularly responsive to flirtation, and so it would probably be a very serious, long-time-in-the-making kind of thing, based more on respect than physical attraction.
which seems to be different in Isabela.
That or it might be like Zevran-Alistair in which Isabela is "spicy" and the other female LI is "sweet." Or maybe Morrigan-Leliana where Isabela is "cold" and the other female LI is "warm."
Or, of course, it's possible that none of these archetypes apply. Just speculating here.

well i can see the male romances being exact opposites of the female romances of DAO.
unless the other mage we meet is a cold bastard and varric has a secret love for shoes. I can't see them being like the male romances of DAO.

I doubt hawke is going to be parading around saying "Want to join my group of champions." so personally i think aveline will stay. if her husband dies where else does she have to go?
Maybe she has family in Gwaren or something? Have we seen her in any pics from Kirkwall? I get the feeling that it will be a big time jump between the flight from Lothering to the main action in Kirkwall, I just don't see her hanging around with the Hawkes. Plus I wasn't blown away by her character in the demo, so I guess part of me is hoping we get a more interesting (to me) female warrior down the road.

Based on what I know of Aveline (which is virtually nothing) I'd imagine her to be the more "cold" LI.Collider wrote...

Her husband just died after all.

or she could be like Dawn Star, after all Aveline was a neighbor of hawkes.

Males have already had a taste of the Carth syndrome. And if anything, Jaheira was more high maintenance than ANYONE.
And for some reason I opted to stay with her at the end of Throne of Bhaal rather than becoming a god. /insanity

Jaheira's the only companion in any bioware game I used to deliberately offend to the point of her leaving (when she refused to res her husband, I was like "How can I trust you".
Gave me pleasure every time. Having played BG1 and always ditched her as fast as possible, her inclusion in the party never sat well with me.
In terms of DA2, I assume there'll be at least one elf amongst the companions, there was no female elf in the last game, good chance that'll be the LI. Though I wouldn't mind Cassandra (don't expect her, but I like her so far.)

Dawn Star - Loyal friend whom you have known since childhood.
Aveline - Someone you may have possibly met who has a husband who just died.

As far as husbands of Female LI's, i can see Aveline act like Alistair about Duncan, and Isabela i think we dont know the whole story of her husband other then she wasnt very fond of him and cheated on him with Zev. My personal opinion is that Isabela's husband didnt treat her (why she resented him) so that when he died she pretty much became a free spirit ( other words Pirate). So isabela prolly will talk about her husband to hawke.

I'm hoping for a more silent, brooding, "don't want to talk about it" type of mourning.

I always liked how Leliana handled Marjolaine she was always down to Earth about it and never went on about her unless you asked her.

From what little we know about Aveline, she seems kinda boring and stiff and uptight... but yeah, like I said, there's very little info so far so I could be totally wrong.
Varric as a LI would be interesting. I don't feel strongly either way about dwarf romance. Although if Ogren was a LI in DAO, it would freak me out (but that has more to do with his personality than him being a dwarf.)

oghren and varric are completely different even thought they are both dwarves. varric to me has a more interesting past then oghren.

That said, I really do hope he is. I'm trying really, really hard to not get overexcited about it at this point. It's difficult.
