by levelling I meant the way you rise in level, in ME2 you got XP only from completing quests/missions and not from killing enemies, they might have gone in the same direction for DA2

If it works like, using the "Kill the Bandits" Chanter's Board sidequest in DA:O as an example, that I don't get any XP for killing any bandits, but get a bunch of XP at the end when I turn it in - that'd be fine.

Is it just me or does the area map(?) in the top right appear to ne in the shape of a dragon?
It's not just you, I thought that myself.

I'd be fine with that as long as there isn't a silly "MISSION COMPLETE HERES A SUMMARY" window at the end of each quest. I hate grinding that much.

Right hand side, bottom of the screen. A half filled bar under the control mapping. That's the experience bar, I can't tell if it's moving or not. As for floating numbers, none no. But I'd imagine they're shut off during the demo in order not to confuse.

That new/old from leaked gameplay looks way much better than one from Rise to Power trailer.
Please Bioware keep this Cassandra instead of RtP!

I don't like the act of grinding, no - I get enough of that in MMOs. I'd play NG+, after my second or third playthrough and I just want to metagame and pick and choose story options and such. So I suppose I would like to see it, but I'm not above cheating my butt off with the console so I don't really see it as necessary except possibly for console players who want to do the NG+ thing.

Bethany swinging her staff around to launch each projectile was neat, but the blast still looks like it lacks impact. Crushing prison was barely changed, but that is okay since I do not expect too much flash from it. What will be interesting to see are visuals for crowd control spells and higher end magic. Bethany's spell animations did look engaging compared to the boring stand still and plink away with bolts of energy approach in Origins, but what interests me as a mage player are tactical options. As long as this frenetic approach does not reduce me to blowing things up, I will probably be happy.
Moving on, it seems Carver can die. Do we really have to choose between Carver and momma Hawke? Because if we do he is toast. No way am I choosing him over Bethany, and after what happened with Eleanor in Origins, I refuse to watch another NPC mother of my character bite it.

I think it's like an ink blot test. Some will see it, some won't, but I'm pretty sure it's not significant.

But a quest-based XP system is not somhow alien to an RPG. If anything, it encourages roleplay by focusing on finishing quests instead of mook-killing.

This is a reason why Bloodlines is one of my top CRPGs. The experience system in that game made avoiding combat a viable approach to success. I would welcome this approach in a BioWare game, but their titles are so combat centric that even if it were implemented, it would probably not matter much in pratice. In Exile wrote...

These screenshots seem to imply the same amount of depth in levelling as DA:O - (source)

I love the animations, but I am not a fan of the UI. Is that how console UI looked in the first one? I want my party back up top and my hotbar across the bottom!
Yes, that's pretty much how the console UI looked. Only notable changes that I noticed were that character portraits have shifted from the top left to the bottom left of the screen, and the name of the character currently under player control is now visible at the bottom right of the screen.
No need to worry about your hotbar for the PC version, as that's been confirmed as coming back.

Agreed. It is borderline shocking that Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, an Action-RPG with a big A, is the one of the few rpgs that reward you equally for solving your problems with violence, stealth and/or diplomacy. Whereas in many other more classic rpg only violence is an acceptable way to earn xp/levels.
