My ultimate edition is from EAs store, not steam, but I'd like to have the steam overlay working. I'm not really sure why it doesn't with Dragon Age, it works fine with Mass Effect (retail, also non-steam) and other non-steam games I add to my steam game list.

I have tried adding both the launcher and the game itself, everything is even running as administrator. Does anyone have any info on getting the steam overlay working with Dragon Age?

I also have the EA-Downloader version and just tried the Steam overlay. It worked just fine. I added the DAOriginslauncher.exe and started via the Steam Gamebrowser. Check if you have the Steam Overlay enabled by default. (Steam->Settings->In-Game)

Yeah, I do. I even tried changing the overlay shortcut this time. This is weird, I wonder whats different in my case thats preventing it from working.

I can verify it works with me too. Have you tried deleting and recreating the Steam link?

Yeah, multiple times. It really sucks not being able to chat with my friends while playing dragon age.

I finally solved it today! I had the launcher, the game executable itself and the updater running as administrator in the compatibility tab. I unchecked it for all of them and the overlay started working!

I'm posting this in case someone has the same problem and is searching for a solution. I was surprised to see this thread as the number one result when I googled "steam overlay not working with dragon age"

EDIT: I had to go back and re-check run as admnistrator on the updater to avoid DLC authorization problems, steam overlay still works.
