So I discovered the potion in Soldier’s Peak that will make you a Diabolist and decided against drinking it, once I knew what it did.  However I had assumed I'd be able to get back into the peak in order to drink it later if I wanted to.

Now I find that the doors are locked and I can't reenter that dungeon.  So my question is, has anyone else drunk it?  If so good or bad results?  What story consequences did it have?

I really don't want to get hours away from that save point if it's worth doing.

Gives 2 new abilities depending on your class, and no, it doesn't have any effect on the story, atleast not that I discovered.

Its worth doing especally if you are a mage. As for good or evil. Its Neither, and your party doesn't object to you drinking it.

Thanks. Do you ever get another chance to get back into Soldier's Peak? I left the mage working on his experiements afterall.

No consequences. I was worried, too, but I beat the game with nary a whisper about it, and the extra spells were very helpful.

You never get to go back in.

I'm playing a rogue at the moment, and it didn't look like it'd be crucial for the class but I hate missing something.

How long did it take you to beat it?

At final count I was somewhere in the 80 hours mark, and I apparently missed a few quests that I've gotten this time around.

If you want more insight on what kind of spells you get for a mage, look here: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Spells

And the rogue version:

Warrior version hasn't been added yet. Can't do it myself as I have no warrior beyond level 2.

Dark Sustenance for mages is something I found very useful, basically a free Lyrium potion for every battle, more in protracted battles, bloody grasp was mildly useful, and even that only because my character didn't have too big a selection of damaging spells directed at a single enemy (As opposed to AOE spells)

As for the consequences... I'm was there to kill myself an Archdemon, if anyone objects to me getting more power to do my job, they can talk to the fireball.

Alas, no negative consequences I'm aware of.

Pah. My mage is a Blood Mage but witnesses can prove I am quite a good guy! In fact, I help out as much as I can and do nothing sinister. Drinking the vial was out of pure interest and science. Why shouldn't I gain more power when I can use it to do good?

Kittens? The only kitten I have encountered thus far changed into Desire Demons! Don't tell me those are nice animals!

Ah darn I didn't use those skills at all, was afraid it would turn me to a bloodmage, ie: ebil...so I left them sit.

I intend to play a bloodmage character eventually though.  I am replaying mage, this time as a human, now that I have some insight as to what I missed the first time around, might make the end battle a little easier.....LOL
