@Sarah: The theory about the poison is interesting, I like it.

Yeah I always figured the poison on top of whatever the desire demon ended up doing to him caused him to age ala Theoden.

And Eamon/Isoldes whole romance is kinda screwed up since apparently they met during the rebellion even though apparently he was in the Free Marches with TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEagan during the war.

Isolde originally hailed from Orlais but moved to Redcliffe in Ferelden when Isolde's father became the tenth Orlesian Arl to govern over Redcliffe. Isolde's family didn't take to their new home and task very well as news that every other Orlesian Arl before Isolde's father had been assassinated by the Banns or beheaded by Emperor Reville - for failure most likely. During her life in Redcliffe, Isolde met Eamon Guerrin, the rightful heir to the lands of Redcliffe controlled by her father.

Quickly Isolde became smitten with Eamon because he was part of the resistance - even though it was her own family he opposed. Her love for Eamon grew rather rapidly and she decided to stay by Eamon's side when her family was finally driven from Redcliffe. Eamon would later take Isolde to be his wife - and the Arlessa of Redcliffe when he became Arl.

I write that off as the fact the rebellion went on three more years after River Dane - he may have contributed in the dying days.

But actually I think there are a lot of discrepancies between the game and book in terms of timelines and ages and so on. I imagine in the game, Eamon is actually supposed to be older - probably older than Loghain actually, given his appearance and the fact his wife is supposedly a lot younger (when she looks mid-thirties at the least). Maybe he was originally intended to be Rowan's older brother.

The fact that Loghain says "you fought with us, Eamon," not to mention the Isolde romance, points to the fact Eamon should have been older.
