Does Storm of Zehir include a NWN2 patch?

If I install Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir on top of a clean install of NWN2, will this update NWN2 as well, or will I have to do that seperately? I'm just asking because I don't want to mess things up by applying a patch for NWN2 only on top of Storm of Zehir and possibly overwriting something.

It will update NWN2 to the update included on the SoZ disk. So, you should run the updater again after SoZ.

There is another thread around here somewhere giving the full details of the besty install order, but it goes something like NWN2 -> Play for 5 mins -> MotB -> Play for 5 mins -> SoZ -> Play for 5 mins -> Update -> Play.

That's fairly accurate, The Fred.

That's one of the methods that seems to provide the overall best update path without issues.

Yes, that's the sequence. Playing for a few minutes lets the game install all the folders you need in My Documents. SoZ installs all the pre-1.21 patches, after which there are only 2 more, so it's almost worth getting it to avoid the huge number of patches you have to download it you don't.

Beware the disappearing sound file, though. Installing SoZ deletes the MotB sound file (over 300Mb), which you will then have to download when you update. So, after installing MotB go into Program Files/Atari/NWN2/Data and copy the file VO_X1.zip to another location on your hard drive. Restore it after installing SoZ.

Thanks for the info. Wow that's messed up... I wouldn't have expected I'd have to manually protect some sound file before going on installing. How come it deletes that? If I can just restore the file after installing Storm of Zehir, that must mean it's not replaced or anything, just deleted.

it actually can be ignored, it will increase the overall download size by 200 compressed megs, only a real issue if you pay by the meg. It's another oops type issue which one patch was done wrong, just patching up to 1.23 will restore what was deleted. Usually programs have issues like this and patches often fix issues created by previous patches until the final patch fixes everything.

Hopefully they do a patch 1.24 with everything fixed and release it as a NWN2 combined set in the stores.
