Whoever leaked the gameplay video should be sued. Simply put it hurt the impressions of this game significantly. The game is not ready to be shown period, and shouldn't even have been shown at conventions.

Actually, they should be praised. The vast majority of us can't attend these conventions and these unofficial glimpses are all we have. Also, there is no such thing as being "not ready to be shown" 4 months from release. That is unheard of. Especially when there's going to very thick RPG competition in spring 2011. That is the first area of the game, and I doubt the gameplay is going to change very much, and its important for people to see the drastic changes they're making. They can't really do anything about the massive backlash except try to make some pretty CG trailers or whatever. This is the game they wanted to make, and thats that.

Indeed it is. One can hope it'll prompt BioWare into (earlier) release of some official gameplay footage, if just to demonstrate that no, the game doesn't normally involve single character running around and shooting particles from a staff.
... maybe you should request it tho, just in case
They may also be tempted to get someone who sucks less at video-games.

I am reminded of Zelda: Wind Waker,
fighting the spearmaster guy and having to hit him 1000 times or so...
the way Link does his fourth hit which always involves some elaborate
spin, gets a bit repetitive in that situation in particular. But for
most of the game it works out alright because you're not just mindlessly
hacking away most of the time. Maybe that's the case here as well.
I think part of the problem is that the graphic and design team may have expected people to suck less at the game and so use abilities. The cooldown time (if you watch the video) is not very high even in the non-exaggerated portion, so the idea is that you mostly use abilities at the attack is just a flashy inbetween while you recharge.
As I understood it, mages regenerate stamina by standing still which encourages very little spam. Again, it just seems the guy playing sucks at the game.

There's a difference between showing a shaky cam and having people just do their own thing to having an indepth look at the gameplay with a voice explaining the differences in the game.
They shouldn't be praised, they went into the booth saying they wouldn't record but they did and they show very little in terms of content.

Do you know that the person who has leaked that video has even writren a review? He is positive with the demo and finished his article saying that he can't wait for DA2 (even if he has some grudge with the streamlined rule system). He has also admitted that he was not familiar with the xbox controller and that it was hard for him to play the game that way.
I played the demo too on the xbox. And while I will agree that the pace of the game is quicker and that if feel more action oriented than DA:O, I came to realize that maybe that's even because it's on the consolle and I am accostumed to play CRPGs on the PC.
I've seen another leaked video today, of a player that apparently knows how to play the game on the consolle. I can't post the link but if you want I can give it privately. He played the exagerated part, but pausing and making the most out of its charachters (something that I was not able to do with the controller since I'm not familiar with that scheme). Honestly, it seemed like another game.
It seems just DA:O but with more responsiveness, more action and some fun animation. But it's DA. Just what "poor" Mr Laidlaw has kept repeating all the time in the last months.

Seriously though i think he just sucked so much compared to the guy who played as Hawke.
As a mage, it was right thing to run away from such big monster with heavy swing attack and attack from a distance. But he was just too busy running away and barely used other useful mag spells. If the battle looks awful, it's because the guy playing it was awful IMO.

It depends on many things, but I'll toss this one out -
Do you like any of the following games?
Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Fable, pretty much any Zelda game, Dungeons and Dragons: Shadows over Mystara, River City Ransom, Ninja Gaiden, Dynasty Warrior, Devil May Cry...
and don't mind DA2 playing somewhat like them?
The ones who DON'T like the gameplay as shown might just not want DA2 to play like the list above.

The animations do look like those kings of games. That doesn't automatically necessitate that it plays like them as well.Dave of Canada wrote..

All of the games I listed (I am fairly certain - a few I actually haven't played at all but I double-checked descriptions) have combat that, whether you have stats for your characters or not (and most of them do), combat comes down to real-time, fast paced, how quick you react is how well you do.
All revealed combat gameplay, both official and unofficial, seems to many (myself included) to look like that kind of combat. It may not be, but the marketing and much of what the devs have said and all the footage sure looks like it could well be.
You are honestly going to say that, seeing the variety of games I listed, very different games, you are set that DA2's combat will be NOTHING like the ones I listed?
I'm fairly sure that Mr. Laidlaw would even say that combat will be somewhat like that. "Fight like a spartan", "push a button and something awesome happens" and all that, after all.

In those games you must press the buttons to make something awesome happen and your reflexes need to keep up with the game.MerinTB wrote...

In DA][ you can pause and use the tactics system.
