Warp against shields?

Simple question: Warp is marked as red against enemies with shields, but I am still able to use it. I guess it does less damage than against barriers and no protection, but is it meant to do any damage at all?

(I am sorry if this is the wrong section, but I couldn't post in the others.)

I think this is the forum this would normally go in.

Anyways, the red icon simply means that that power won't do very much against whatever the top-level defense is, but you can still use it if you want.

Warp is best used as a detonator rather than directly against enemies, but otherwise it typically works best against armor and barriers. It is least effective when an enemy is shielded, which is why the icon is red.

Personally, I often see my Heavy Warp being extremely effective against shields, sometimes even moreso than what it does against Barriers and Armor.

So I'd guess it's pretty safe to use if you're an Adept or a Sentinel without Overload.

As I understand it, Warp still does full damage against Shields; it simply doesn't have any sort of multipliers like Overload does.

^Either way, warp has a minimal effectiveness on shields.

This apparently doesn't apply to enemies though - they get to use whatever they want on you with equal effect.

As a little side note, you can post anywhere on these forums and thus in the respective sections a topic belongs too if you only register your copy of the game with your account. That way you could get your free DLC too. I bet you don't want to miss those!

Using Warp against shields is a waste. All powers damage shields (and other defenses), but you can strip shields faster using Throw (though inadvisable too)

Powers such as Warp, Overload and Incinerate are only useful if they can strip defenses in one go. You'll need 2 or 3 (Heavy) Warp attacks to strip shields of normal enemies, not recommendable. Use other powers (squadmates) to help with defenses Shep can't strip instantly. Warp is best used to detonate ragdolled enemies.

i hate that! especially if i was a soldier with health, armor, and shields. my biggest problem is harbingers biotics are better then adept shepards biotics. it makes me feel like shepards sortof just a random soldier, rather then being the "commander cheif" that he should be.

ME1 shepard > ME2 shepard.

ME1 shepard > ME2 shepard.

ME2 shepard > ME1 shepard.
Being almost invincible actually takes away the fun from the game.

I agree with this. After a certain point, there's just no challenge to the first game. That certain point has a name. That name is Singularity.

more specifically, master singularity.

although shouldnt a level 60 adept be virtually invincable? isnt that the point? my level 10 adept in ME2 is only slightly worse then my level 30 adept(which is primarily because i dont get a decent weapon till near end game). compare the level 20 to the level 60 character in ME1 and theres a HUGE difference.

But what is the point when the game stops being challenging?

If that is what you want simply play on easy.

I am happy that all classes don't have an "I win" button anymore.

If Insanity in the second game were as insultingly simple as Insanity from the first game, I would have been really disappointed in Mass Effect 2. Shepard is never meant to be a god. Shepard is meant to be a human. Entering a room and throwing everyone around like softballs without really trying is too close to godhood for me to find it entertaining.

Err, okay, but then our beloved Adrenaline Rush definetely qualifies too, as when entering a room with Mattock+Heightened AR+Weapon Switch to Widow+Heightened AR on the last remaining enemy is pretty much godmode anyway.

Not that I am complaining, 'tis fun (yes, I am playing DA:O again), but compared to Singularity, Tech Armor, Drone, Biotic Charge and Tactical Cloak, Adrenaline Rush is massively OP if I might throw this contraction in here and does fairly well when competing against Immunity Chain casting of ME1.

I use warp all the time on shields, even more so when I'm playing as sentinel. Picking Guardian and getting biotic cooldown = warp spamming. Warp is a good, all around attack for any situation.

Warp does respectable damage to shields, usually taking off a little less than half the bar fully evolved with full upgrades on Insanity vs. a Blue Suns trooper.

I often use Area Reave on shielded enemies in a pinch if I don't feel like wasting ammo if I don't have a squadmate's Overload available or they're bunched up enough that I can catch 3 or more in one Reave. Granted its not amazing damage, but its enough that if I can hit three Blue Suns mercs with the Area Reave before a Charge it guarantees that they're all within 1 shot range of my Eviscerator.
