One thing that always bothered me about Dragon Age 2 was the lack of clarity and conformity between item properties. The property "Lucky," for instance, had no discernible function. "Weakens nearby darkspawn," while clear in intent, is nevertheless unnecessarily ambiguously worded. Does "Messy Kills" really make kills more messy?
Even in their functions were many item properties confusing: did the bow property "Rapid Aim" stack with the archery talent of the same name? No, it did not, but how would a player know this outside of rigorous testing? Did the property "critical/backstab damage" affect bows? One cannot backstab with a bow, after all. I guess it then becomes an issue of what grammatical function the slash has; does it function as a logical "or," or does it function as a hyphen? Why should I have to analyze the rhetoric of item properties to determine what they do?
Will the properties of items be consistent through platforms this time around? I cannot stress how frustrating it was switching from console to PC, or trying to find information on new items when DLC was released. "Are those PC stats or console stats?"
Did you trim the fat on any stats? All of the individual elemental resistance stats were quite useless in the face of Spell Resistance. Armor was unequivocally worse than Defense, and Constitution was almost always kept at base for all characters, even tanks, and the same can be said for Willpower; potion chugging made up for low mana, stamina, and health pools.
