Hello,

I am playing rogue now and I can choose any specialization. But I didn't unlocked them (no teachers, no books). How is it possible? I have Dragon Age Ultimate Edition. I have played Dragon Age: Origins before, but only as a mage - I don't know if it's relevant.

"Level up" window has a different look than the same one in DA: O edition. So maybe it's patch related thing?

Thanks for answers.

I think there might be two things going on..

1- you used an older origins game the first time around and did not download the patch (If im right it did change a little) since the ultimate edition has the patch installed the level up screen is prolly different.

2- you unlocked the specialisation in your mage playthrough, which automatically unlocks it for every other game you start...

Specialties are universally applied to your game.Unlock once and done.Kinda like achievements.

It's unlikely that you unlocked all specilaizations in one playthrough, although possible. Champion and Reaver, for instance, usually are mutually exclusive in one playthrough (unless you play one stream and then restore and play the other).

If you did not do that, then most likely one of them is not unlocked. That may give you some peace of mind.

You can get both champion and reaver in the same playthrough -- they're not mutually exclusive. You get them at different places, and champion is pretty much a given unless you REALLY don't want the reward.

A mage can even unlock bloodmage. however, for spirit healer and ranger, you need to buy books.

The first time I was playing the game, I used pirated version. I got a mage to about 12th level or so. I unlocked only Spirit Healer specialization - I'm sure of it because only once I got information "Specialization unlocked" - I bought the book in Denerim. Also I was playing offline of course.

Then I decided to buy the game, becaused I loved it. And then I did something that might caused unlocking specializations - after registering DA:O - UE on my profile, I logged in on the pirated version. Maybe some data was uploaded.

One thing is strange though.. I am playing mage again and Blood mage specialization was locked. Others are unlocked (every Warrior and Rogue specialization also).

But maybe it is not because of the pirated version but it has something to do with Ultimate Edition?

I suppose there is no way to lock specializations ? Maybe only playing offline. But then no DLC will be active.

They did patch the game a while back to automatically unlock all specializations that could be learned from manuals, once you reach level 14 or so. The only exceptions are blood mage and reaver, since there are no manuals for those; you have to unlock them the old fashioned way.  So, if you complete a playthrough, assuming that you are beyond level 14, you should automatically have every spec unlocked, except for the two mentioned.

Also, I found out that if you played through Leliana Song, the Bard and Assassin specialization are unlocked for you.

I'm level 7 in Lothering and I have access to all mage specializations minus blood mage. I wish these weren't universally applied to all playthroughs.

Okay, this is really odd. All four mage specializations were always unlocked for me, and I know I definitely never unlocked blood mage, shapeshifter, or spirit healer the way the guides claimed you had to. They were just automatically unlocked for me. I'm not sure if it's an Xbox thing, or an Ultimate Edition thing.

The Ultimate Edition does not unlock any specializations automatically. I play on the PC, so it could be a glitch with the Xbox version.

I figured it out. Apparently they all unlock as soon as you do a playthrough of Awakening no matter what.

Is there a mod out there that lets you pick more than 2 Specializations at later levels? I believe as it is now you can get one Spec at lvl 7 and one at 14 and that is it. Are there any way to get the others at later lvls like 21 and 28?

Alright so is it a patch thing? Cause I just noticed this even though I just recieve one I think it was unlocked already? I'm playing a Dwarven Rogue Duelist and it is my first play through, I only opened Awakening but never played it. I'm on the DAO:UE Steam version if that helps matters.
