Ok, i've never been a big comp guy myself, but loved playing p&p d&d back in the day. As far as video games goes, i've always had consoles going back to when my dad brought home an intellivision one christmas in the early 80's.. ( anyone remember d&d treasure of tarmin ? Great game ! ) I used to play some pc rpgs like ultima and such at friends houses though.
Consoles used to get some good d&d games like Treasure of Tarmin, Pool of Radiance, Eye of the Beholder & Warriors of the Eternal Sun (Sega Genesis). But after that, the good rpgs seemed to only be on pc. ( Baulders Gates, Planescape:Torrment, Icewind Dales, Fallouts, ect..)
I remember seeing the d&d logo on a game called Baulders Gate:Dark Alliance, and getting so excited thinking i would be able to embark on a classic d&d adventure, but then came to realise it was a hack-n-slash, gauntlet style game that just happened to be d&d licensed. I did have fun playing with my friend, but it really wasn't what i thought it was gonna be when i first saw that d&d trademark.
I play alot of different types of games, but from recently playing DAO, i realised these d&d style, tactical rpgs are truly my favorite kind of games. ( especially when i'm solo ) So i want to experience these "great ones" that i missed out on, like the ones i mentioned above. Especially after seeing some of this DA2 gameplay footage, i feel like i have to go back to get what i'm looking for.
Does anyone have any advice and suggestions ( links ?) for someone looking to get back to his his true video gaming love ?
Suggestions on a cheap laptop to play Infinity Engine games on ?

If you're looking for a computer capable of running Baldur's Gate (or Icewind Dale or Planescape: Torment), that'd be just about every computer for sale right now.
Or are you looking for tipps for a successful campaign (good character choices, battle-/team- tactics, the 101 of magic, a powergamer's guide to weapon proficiencies...), then I guess you'd better specify a bit.

I can play them easily enough on my ASUS EEE PC netbook, so as H_T said, you should be fine with whatever you decide to get.
