(PC: Cousin! But why are you imprisoned here?

Soris: Then you have forgotten. I thought you might have when month after month passed and you never came to find me.)

(PC: Oh, blast it. Have you been here since...?

Soris: And when exactly did you think I'd get out?)



Soris: Been having a good time playing Grey Warden, Cousin, while I've been rotting here for your crimes? (Bitter)

(PC: I'm sorry, Soris. I thought Valendrian would get you out.

Soris: And what was he going to do? I was being blamed for killing the arl's own guards, then robbing him blind.)

(PC: Tons. Almost died, then got blamed for killing the king.

Soris: Wonderful, great. I'm sure it's been an adventure.)

(PC: What do you mean, my crimes?

Soris: I mean you trying to make a deal with your own bride's rapist, and never thinking he might stab you in the back over it./ I mean you trying to make a deal with your own would-be rapist, and never thinking he'd turn it against you.)

Aah, the city elf origin. The only thing that it disappointed me in was the lack of brutal cutscene for Vaughan's death. I wanted him to pay, and settled for chopping off his head. Still want that cutscene though.

By the way, since Giggles didn't post it even though I sent it to him via PM, here's part of Soris' dialogue back at home (if you had him imprisoned and took the bribe):



Soris: I wasn't sure you'd show up here. I'm sure you've already had enough of the warm alienage welcome.

Warden: What happened here?

Soris: I'm not sure, myself. Most people here won't really talk to me. The new arl led a purge... Revenge for Vaughan's death, they say.

Warden: But we didn't kill Vaughan!

Soris: You and I know that, but Arl Howe says "elven insurgents" killed Vaughan, and it's not like we can prove otherwise.

Warden: How many died?

Soris: I don't know. After the purge came some sort of pestilence. It's hard to say who was killed by soldiers and who fell to disease.

Warden: Isn't anything being done?

Soris: Some men came from the Tevinter Imperium. They say they have magic that protects healthy people, and they've got a quarantine for the sick.

Soris: They... they took Valendrian and your father, both. I'm sorry.

Warden: Where is this quarantine?

Soris: A house on the north side of the square. You can't miss it, Cousin, there's a huge crowd there now.

Warden: I have to go

Soris: What a surprise. Can't get out of here fast enough, can you?



As for Fang, I don't know really. It's not THAT great. I mean, it's good but there are better daggers in the game. I really wouldn't be so concerned about it.

Soris chimed in, and tried to convince me to reconsider taking the money. He said, "I don't know, cousin, it's allot of money..."



So I lost respect for Soris. Plus, he always complained about his betrothed being ugly, anyway, so I thought to myself, "Then you can go to jail."

Why? I think it's perfectly normal and human (well, human-esque) for a man from a culture where ten silvers is an insanely generous wedding present to be tempted by the thought of four hundred times that amount. I believe that if the decision were in his hands (and it's not as he can't take Vaughan and his friends alone if you decide to take the bribe and he won't get the money if you don't) he wouldn't have taken the money. He is horrified by what happens and just because he thinks Valora is ugly doesn'tmean he's fine with her getting raped and should you not take the bribe or rat him out then he tries to make a life with her. Not to mention that if you're a CEF you were almost raped and Shianni (who may or may not be his sister) is lying on the floor begging you to save her after having clearly been raped. He's NOT perfectly fine with leaving them there and I don't see why him wavering for a moment before doing the right thing in the face of unimaginable temptation means that he 'deserves' to rot in prison for a year after he helped you (and if you're a CEF, enabled you to) kill Vaughan and save everyone.

There is no risk. The only difference from taking all the responsibility yourself is that Soris will be imprisoned and somewhat bitter at you.



You will NOT miss any sidequests nor will you miss out on Fang. Trust me, I am 100% sure.

City Elf's mother's Dagger which Cyrion gives you after you rescue him from the slavers.

On PC it's not a very good dagger unfortunately, but I gather it's different on consoles.

I see. I tend to have far better weapons to really be all that concerned about a dagger you only get at the end of the game.

The entry on Cyrion says all that needs to be said. The only way you miss getting Fang is if you take the money. Check it out on the toolset if you wish.

There's a mod that levels Fang for the PC. It's not bad at level 7. Besides, it belonged to your mother.

Yep, I checked in the toolset myself. The only you could miss out on Fang at that point is if you choose to allow Caladrius to sacrifice the elves.

And I agree that getting Fang shouldn't be that big of a deal, unless you're playing a character who really wants to have something from his mother (which is actually a pretty good reason to want it).

But you already get something from your mother on the day of your wedding and any action you take to make sure that your character can get Fang is meta-gaming anyway.

I've never spared Caladrius or Vaughan to get Fang. Fang has been a tiny tiny cherry on top of that dessert.
