Well sure, it is metagaming (and you already have her boots), but hey, if he wants to meta-game...
Sadly I won't have much use for Fang in my current CE run as I'm playing a hybrid 2H/S&S warrior. But it'll be nice to have anyway.
Also, with Improved Atmosphere I believe Fang has much better stats (and is tier 7).
What happens in the late-game if you let Soris get taken to jail?? (City Elf Male) SPOILERS!!!

Its very funny how the whole Caladrius thing pans out when you are an elf.
First he suggests selling the elves into slavery. Then he suggest killing all of them.
To an elf of all people.
Then Wynne goes "BLOOD MAGIC IS WRONG!", even though she knows that your family and friends are in the cages.
Then Morrigan gets pissed that you dont splatter your family "a little bit messy" is her line I believe.
Honestly that made my City Elf kick her from the party because he was so mad at her.
Really that scene was not very well thought out.

Well it's not like you don't meet a prominent elven slaver so unless at some point you get to mention that your father is in the cage to him then I can see why he might think you wouldn't necesssarily care about them.First he suggests selling the elves into slavery. Then he suggest killing all of them.

And for that matter...do you even know that your father is in the cage until after Caladrius is dealt with? Even if you could possibly notice him in the cage, no one else knows what he looks like. If not, that makes Wynne and Morrigan's remarks SLIGHTLY less WTF although these are still people you grew up with.

Dosent Shianni tell you that they took your father though?

All she knows is that he went into the quarentine and didn't come back out. He doesn't have to be in the cages and he also went in the non-CE origins yet he's already been shipped to the Tevinter by the time you show up. The CE gets lucky that he's still in there and unlucky in that Valendrien isn't.Giggles_Manically wrote...

One of the elves at the hospice tells you that they took your father. The drunk at the apartment confirms this as being quite recent (I think). It's emphasized that Papa has been kidnapped.

I will go over that scene but Morrigan and Wynne both annoy me so much.
Because yes, yes I would murder or sell into slavery the dozens of people I grew up with, some of whom I am related too.

Kidnapped does not necessarily mean 'has not yet been transported.' Even if he were kidnapped by the slavers, I think Wynne and Morrigan can be forgiven for not immediately realizing that he must be in the one last transport and thinking that he was probably already sent out. Although that still leaves the question of why they're convinced you don't give a damn about the other elves in the cage, some of whom you may even know.

Actually I agree with that take. While the CE could possibly be aware that her (his) father is in one of the cages if they take a quick glance, Morrigan and Wynne have no idea who he is. It still doesn't make up for their comments, but it does kind of remove the "WTF? You're talking about my father!" factor.

Yeah, that's one of the things Wynne said that irked me to no end. I mean, honestly, did she really think I was going to splatter all those elves? Even when I wasn't an Elven character it didn't even cross my mind. I mean dear Lord Wynne, we've come this far and you're going to warn me to back off as if I'm about to agree?
Gah! I wish they gave you the option to tell her "Don't be stupid." and then let you finish killing Caladrius.
*incoherent annoyed mumbling*

you write volumes about how much you know about the storyline, but you dont know what fang is?Sarah1281 wrote...
Fang? People keep mentioning this but I don't know what it is. Is it some sort of sword?
also when you said you are more interested in //better weapons// and less interested in a dagger you get in the late game, you obviously know nothing about being a duel wielding rogue and how important daggers are to a dw rogue.
fang is by far the best dagger in the game.
last of all what is meta gaming???

...What is with this sudden hostility? I know plenty about the storyline though not everything. If it comes to my attention that I don't know something about the storyline, I will look it up in the toolset. Since when is the name of a weapon part of the storyline? I just looked up what Cyrion says when he gives it to you right now.Bleakwail wrote...

PC: You said you had something for me?
Cyrion: I had this put away for... well, for a long time. If I'd been thinking straight at the time, I'd given it to you before you left with Duncan. It belonged to your mother. I think you should have it now. I know you'll do great things. You already do.
No, I never play DW rogues. I never really use daggers outside of the very beginning of the game. I don't see why that's a bad thing. I've moved past daggers by the time I get to Denerim for the Landsmeet and so never use that dagger. I don't recall ever claiming to be some sort of expert on the equipment of DA.
Metagaming is when you play with information your character doesn't have, such as if you played a HNF and decided to romance Alistair because you wanted to be queen before you had gone to Redcliffe and had Alistair give you this information (like what happened in my first game where I made the decision before I even turned the game on) or if you know that you're going to lose Alistair at the Landsmeet so you strip him first so you can keep his equipment. In the case of this thread, it's if you decide whether to take all the blame for killing Vaughan or if you blame Soris as well based on whether or not doing so would allow you to get a dagger later in the game.

Honestly, you should be fine without it. Even if you're on nightmare, any other sword/dagger can substitute just as well, save for maybe 5-10 extra damage from fang. This game is already incredibly easy. I just cleared Origins with no clothes or wep on my party (true story).
