Mike Ladlaw said upgrades might visually change the outfit but only slightly and only in some very rare casesWittand25 wrote...
I know that you can´t equip the followers yourself. But the followers will get upgrades for their armor during the time jumps and hopefully their equipment will also update visually in some cases.
There's only one outfit, so yes if they are permanent party members they'll wear the exact same thing through the whole game, much like how Miranda wears spandex in vacum in ME2While remaining in the same cloths is no problem for mages and rogues staying for warriors like Carver and Aveline it would be plain silly to run around in their starting clothes the whole game.

Your hearing must be very selective. In the very podcast you're refferencing they said there are points in the game where companions change outfits (including during time jumps because companiosn wouldn't be wearing the same thing for 10 years). They also said that most upgrades will change the companion's outfit visually. Refference it properly, or don't refference it at all. I'm sick of people who want DA2 to be bad so they can say "haha, I told you so, xxxgame IS better!" Spreading misinformation.DarthCaine wrote...
Listen to the podcast. Party members have only one outfit for the entire gameSir Karl wrote...

erm, haven't you heard? Party members have only one outfit like in ME2, you can't equip any armor on party members
Are you serious? I hope that is not true. Ah well, just another nail in the coffin of DA2

He never said slightly. He wrote that in some cases the look of the companions will change. Combined with the fact that it was stated several times by several people that they want to avoid the chainmail bikini in the Dragon Age franchise I am pretty certain that warriors like Carver and Aveline will change their look from sleeveless everyday clothes to full body armor once they reach the appropriate level.DarthCaine wrote...

It was said that outfits will change after a certain progression in the story. I'm guessing the 10-year break.

One thing I wasn't too clear on, listening to the podcast: Mike said the companions will change equipment at points throughout the game and get upgrades so they won't be stuck in starter gear for the whole game. Does this mean their equipment will also change visually? Or are they going to basically wear the same outfit for a decade? Clarification would be appreciated.

Well actually it appears I've misread that quote. It says upgrades won't change the outfit AT ALL visually, but in some rare cases some party members might change outfits (like when they're having sex lol)Wittand25 wrote...

This is more in line with what they said in the podcast, but the way Laidlaw's response was set up, it's pretty clear what he meant.

I would be surprised if Aveline and Carver, two warriors, used simple clothes throughout the game.

I can see more easily Miranda wearing a pyjama, suits fit a sci-fi setting after all. Varric and Isabela, being rogues are somewhat justified but a would be tank like Aveline? No way!

But it doesn´t suit ME setting. Almost everybody expecting trouble in both games was equipped for it except half our squad in ME2. That included no helmets in toxic or damaging enviroments (bare eyes in a sandstorm or high chlorine atmosphere, yeah).
With DA2, Isabella is a Red Sonja (meaning fanservice over sensible clothing, not the metal bikini) despite early comments from the devs they wouldn´t go that way. Qunari mooks seem to have seen 300 too much as they chose war paint above armor, at least now we know why they get defeated by Hawke. So I wouldn´t be surprised if Aveline ignored armor too.
