Just finished watching the video. The cameraman was pretty smitten on the player as he kept on concentrating his shots on her instead of the actual games. <_<
So the German speaking YT commenters thought too, from what little I could gather. The most recent comment had the gist of, "What kind of idiot is the camerman? I want to see the game, not the two women." Granted, my German is super rusty, so my translation might be a bit off.
Aside from less focus on the screen, it was an interesting video. So far I'm liking the look, though I know it's the Xbox version and I'll be playing PC. The hit point area felt a bit large to me, but I'd rather have the party HP section take up a bit too much room than too little, where I'm more likely to forget it's there. Aside from that, it looks like it plays a lot like Origins.
(OT sidenote: That "fake English" thing was amusing and interesting. Langues always sound odd to those who don't speak it.

The last line is "You lost it? Just like you 'lost' a ship full of valuable cargo?"
That has to have something to do with Isabela. For one thing, she can't keep working full-time as a pirate AND be a permanent companion to Hawke, so it stands to reason that something happens to her ship or she gives up/loses her position as captain.
So perhaps she's the one who takes the Hawkes from Gwaren to Kirkwall, and Something Happens along the way. Hmm.
We need another Pacific Northwest expo between now and March.

Seriously, you've got absolutely nothing going on at the top of the screen and yet you've got those huge bars covering up everything.
Other thoughts:
- I can see why that one German previewer said that area looked rather sterile and clinical- it did. Yes, I realize I'm nitpicking crappy footage, but the city seemed too clean and the angular architecture didn't help. It all still looked just as boxed in as the different areas of Denerim did. I'm sure that'll be fixed up once they start populating and polishing it though.
- It looked like Aveline was there, but as others have brought up, the whole unique companion look sort of falls apart when you have a sword and shield character wearing normal clothes. I mean come on- your tank is wearing a normal shirt and some jeans? Really?
- It seemed that last bit with the one guy complaining about a lost ship was taking place in a Chantry as apparently all Chantries have massive red candles now. Was Isabela working for the Chantry and screwed up? Like Han Solo and Jabba?
- It didn't really look too different than much of the other footage which is to say, "meh."

I thought it was a bad move to show us the concept art for the last boss as well, but hey, their game.pitchblaq wrote...
"Some" is putting it generously. I think we saw more of Dragon Age II in that picture of the scorpion defending the gingerbread cookies.
Also, German is a wonderfully practical language, without the stupid roundaboutness of the english language. /rant

I'm assuming that section is not from Varric's exaggerated telling? Combat still looks extremely over the top animations wise. Though kinda suspected that was going to be the case.
I don't think Varric ever exaggerated the animations. That portion removed cooldowns on abilities (showing more of those animations in a shorter timeframe) and made enemies all explodey.
This sequence appears to take place after arriving in Kirkwall.

I'm about 99% sure thats the demo that one German preview mentioned saying the environmenet looked sterile and cold. Which is what it looked like.
And yes, the combat still looked just as ridiculous as the exaggerated bit- and that clearly wasn't the exggerated bit as Varric was in the party.

Yep, it did. I really do not expect it to stay that way by launch though. If it does I'll dye my hair purple and start making threads complaining about it myself.

Good footage on the whole, got a look at Kirkwall (I think it's a bit early to call it sterile when we see so little of it without the flavour NPC's being intergrated? The architecture looked fine to me, they look like they are in the posh district) as well as a few little details such as the quest icon and another loot screen etc.
Really, more than anything, watching that made me wonder what the 'sky is falling' crowd are seeing that I'm not. To me it looks exactly like a Dragon Age game should, apart from the new combat animations it could be taken from Origins! Yes there are a few changes that not everyone is going to be happy about, but I can't understand those crying out that it's the end of Dragon Age and a completely different game (surprised they havn't come up with an acronym for the game yet: Dragon Age in Name Only perhaps? DAiNO seems catchy enough).
As for Aveline, I am convinced that if she does join the team full time then she will get an outfit upgrade. Considering the time jump I could see her becoming a Templar or something like that. However I'm not sure this proves she is going to be in the party neccesarily, they could have her there to give a 4/4 party for the Kirkwall demo without revealing any more new characters? (Although I suppose they could use Carver, but there is still the whole question surrounding him being fully recruitable).

I think this must be from Isabela's "recruitment" period or something.

I think it says on Isabela's page that the Siren's Call sank not long after the Blight ended, seeing as Hawke meets Isabela about a year after Lothering (according to the German preview from before) they no doubt meet due to that explaining her recruitment. One thing I'm curious about is whether that means there is a time jump right after the Lothering intro or whether it happens after they get to Kirkwall.

why is there so much teleporting and soul calibre streak efffects on sword swings?
I don't understand why they are going in that direction.
Because that's the new ****, this time around. Bigger weapons, more blood, ridiculous acrobatics and effects, button mashing..
I loved the leaping ogre slow-mo deathblow in DA:O, but now its a standard charge attack. sigh..
