My AR Vanguard experimented with the GPS.
Not worth it.

GPS for short range/mid range
Mattock for mid range/longer range
I've had fun with the build, the GPS is not the best weapon ive used (ironically i prefer the Scimi, despite bigging up the GPS in the last post) however it can give some variety for those that want to try and go down the semi-caster route with Vanguards, as the weapon is a good ranged defense stripper for a shotgun.

Matrock and GPS. It was boring, i only charged as finishers. To me, the entire point of being a Vanguard is CHARGECHARGECHARGE!
Does anybody else think the Mattock is a better charge weapon then the GPS?

Yes, the Claymore is a beast.Kronner wrote...
Fixed for me. I just love the sound the Claymore makes <3
Another reason is NG+, my last 2 playthroughs were Vanguard NG+ and I could one shot guys with only 2 SG upgrades
If you catch Harby in the middle of transforming, you can pretty much kill him by the time he finishes his transformation... but there is this "cheating/reload trick" that... is morally wrong to do, even to harby

Pair it with incendiary ammo, and all unarmored foes around you will be doing the Fire Swat Dance. It only gets better once you move up to ME3.
Geth Plasma Shottie makes a great squaddie gun for a vanguard player though. Pass 'em around to all the shottie-wielding squaddies.

Eviscerator or Claymore are my preference on a Vanguard. If you were going to run Cryo Ammo then perhaps Scimitar is an ok choice, but there is little occasion in the game where this is all that helpful. Those being chiefly the Geth missions since Incendiary is near useless against them.
For Collector or Husk missions, I would rather just run Inferno with a good shotgun and have the squad run Squad Cryo. That way they will practically freeze any husks that approach.

Which is not a Scimitar. Scimitar is adequate on Vanguard if you choose to run Cryo but it is far from optimal.MadCat221 wrote...
Yeah, that works against one damage sponge foe. In the more likely event you're rushing in to multiple foes, you'll need a way to spread the pain around fast.
The way you engage multiples is with multiple charges and a decent shotgun with melee.
