I have a kensai dualed to mage, currently at level 13/17, and I just noticed that my character can wear any armor a mage can normally wear (but not stuff like full plate) (doing watchers keep atm, have not yet killed bodhi as i wait for my romance(with viconia) to play out first). The things I can think of which could have ****ed it up is the mind shield from the deck of many things and the fact that i changed valygar's profieciencies from two + in dagger to two in short swords(in hindsight i prolly should have had hae'dalis in my party instead of valygar as the rest of my party is edwin, korgan and jan, but he will be replaced come tob anyways). There also seems to be a bug that I can't print screen while in the game, it just takes a screenshot of whatever is behind the game(this forum), I am playing from windows 7 if this migth cause the problems. Anyone have any idea what might cause the bugs? I have no mods installed but have patched tob.

Mage robes are not flagged as unusable by kensai (they're unusable by single class fighters but any fighter/mage dual except WS can wear them)... Not sure if this is a bug as neither fixpack removes it.
The screenshot problem I have no idea about though.

When you press Print, the game creates a screenshot for you and the current frame gets copied (for pasting into a picture file). Are you sure that neither screenshot are usable for you?

Regarding the robes, this sounds exactly like dual-classing is supposed to work? Kensai's cannot wear any armour, robes, or gauntlets, but once you dual, your new class sets the constraints. This is why Kensai power builds are all dual classed, mostly to mage or thief. You get the hectic THACO, damage, hit points, and 5 APR from the kensai, then build a mage of imperviousness to everything and destroy everything in sight. For marginally less power, you build a thief that gets critical hit backstabs, and later with assassinate and time traps, gets a theoretical 16 critical hit backstabs in a row.

That's not quite how it works. The Potty 1 wrote...

Polytope is right that it is the Kensai kit that matters. A single-class Kensai can't wear robes because robes are unusable by fighters and can't wear e.g. leather armour because it's unusable by Kensais. If the Kensai dual to mage, he eventually comes to be counted as a Kensai-kitted fighter/mage and can wear robes, because robes are usable by fighter/mages and not unusable by Kensais. If he instead were to dual to thief, he'd not be able to wear e.g. leather armour, either before or after he regains his fighter levels, because, dualled of undualled, he's still a Kensai and leather armour is unusable by Kensais.
If robes were set to be unusable by Kensais, Kensai->Mages would be unable to use them.

I second everything The Potty said on this matter.
I think Kensage being able to wear armor-like robes is an oversight, while Kensai/Thief wearing armors via Use Any Item is an exploit (I'm not the police, but it really disintegrates the whole concept of the kensai).
That being said, I tried to "rectify" it a little within Item Revisions (waiting for Kit Revisions). I first suggested to make archmages robes not usable by Kensai, but most players seemed against it, thus I didn't. What I instead did without a single regret is letting True Kensais use bracers (but not gauntlests). It may seem strange, but at least a Kensai won't have to dual wield to mage to improve his AC (which makes no sense), making the non-dualed class a lot more interesting imo. Afterall, do we really think wearing non-encumbering bracers of armor can be considered a true impediment to kensai's fighting skills?
