I would like to see BioWare offer the cloth map as a
purchasable item. When I bought Dragon Age Origins, I was not even aware that
there was a collector's edition. If BioWare wants to keep the map as a
collector's item, then I think they should include it in the Dragon Age 2
Signature Edition and have both Ferelden and Kirkwall on it. I would definitely
buy this item even if it was only as a poster.

might want to edit all that out...

I'm all for a cloth map of Thedas...but re-printing Ferelden seems a little unnecessary. DAO has passed...it's no longer the highlight of the series.

well, that's what LE or CE or LCE or ... usually are about: to provide stuff that you can't buy

(and that's also why the Signature Edition isn't called a Collector's Edition: it does not include a cloth map; maybe so they can sell one in the Store afterwards)

Long post is long... Also, you can get a new DA:O CE for $80 on ebay with free shipping, so it really hasn't gone up in price. Will DA2 ever get a CE, or will the Signature Edition be it? I'm not digging this $10 price hike EA put on all their games.

... The PC version costs 5 euros less than normal, around here. Console versions are the same as usual. So not sure what you are talking about!!

I'm sorry you missed it, but it's your own fault. You had the same chance everyone else had to buy the CE when it was available. If you didn't pay attention that it was there, that's unfortunate, but it doesn't mean a limited item needs to be reproduced and cheapened for all the people that were on the ball. If you want one so bad, then go buy an LCE off of eBay or some other place.

I'm sure DA II will get a true collector's edition on top of the Signature Edition, but there is no way they will simply reprint the same map. And they shouldn't it's an insult to everyone who bought DA Origins LCE.

Damn Osiris...i think thats the most insensitive post of yours I've ever seen - are you having a bad morning? Do you want a hug? :P

Alright - since the Store (as far as i know) wasn't even involved in the production of the Ferelden cloth map, I doubt they would suddenly start creating them, or other cloth maps (such as the next area in DA2 - the Free Marches), or even a large copy of the continent Thedas - despite the obvious popularity such an item holds...which makes speaking on this topic in the Store forum to be somewhat useless...unless the time has come to officially try to convince Jedi to start making cloth artwork...

@Funker:  State side, the price for console games became $10 more expensive than PC starting about a year or two ago.  Recently, starting with Activision and CoD:MW2, certain PC games got the price hike too - so I wouldnt be surprised if EA is starting the same trend, and that's probably what erik is talking about...

@Osiris:  I've seen a quote from Mr. Preistly (someone whos opinion we care about SO MUCH here on the Store forum! *cough, cough, hacking cough*) that implies the DA2 "Signature Edition" is in-fact the only special edition the game will have - so there supposedly won't be a Collectors Edition, meaning there likely won't be a cloth map to go with it.  Of course there will be an "Ultimate Edition" after a while, but that likely will only include the DLC to be released.

Personally, I thought it was a great touch in the DA:O CE to include a map, and wish the best of luck to the OP in hopes of attaining one...but if they don't release a DA2 "Collectors Edition" with a sigfnificant cloth map - hell, you can just have mine Alex...not much of a reason for me to care about it, then...

What? I gotta be positive and say "Good luck buddy, we're pullin for ya."  In all my posts now? It wasn't all sarcasm, I do feel sorry for the OP that they missed out if they wanted it. It just bugs me when everytime somebody misses a limited item, they come on a forum somewhere and start crying for it to be reproduced.

Yeah I read that a while back too, but I'm not sold on that being the end of it just yet.  That was posted about a month ago, which leaves more than 5 months before release, a lot can happen in that time. Especially considering Bioware's history of last minute voluntary and/or fan pressure induced whipping together of collector's editions.

This has also been a ploy by EA of late.  Not saying it's a terrible deal or bad move, but it's a tactic EA has been using to amp up preorders for a lot of thier games. Announce a CE/LE that is preorder only and the same price as the standard edition. The only bonuses are DLC type bonuses with no material items thrown in.   Both Battlefield Bad Company games, Crysis 2, Medal of Honor, Dead Space 2, and others have all been given this treatment.  Several of them though have still ended up getting a more exclusive and proper LCE of some type announced at a later date.

I'm not saying any of that means it will happen, but I'm still thinking there is a reasonable chance we'll see one.

Well, I got hoodwinked because I ordered my collector's edition from the wrong damn chain and wasn't informed that it wouldn't have the tin box and cloth map.  All the BioWare site said was that there was a collector's edition with those items. I wasn't informed there was a "crap" collector's edition and a proper collector's edition.

I'd love to be able to purchase a cloth map, but I can't justify buying the entire game again just for that. Those are the collectibles from special game editions that I like. Not some in-game item. I prefer tangibles.

I did just that. Also read about the downsized CE from game.co.uk too late and quickly ordered another edition on the day of release. Luckily, there were enough PC versions available.

I 'm truthfully holding out for that same chance - but I just hate that this is what its come down to; pre-order a physical copy of Signature before Jan. 11th (since it would certainly be better than just a regular version)...and then hover over the 'cancel pre-order' button for several months to see if we catch Bioware in a lie? - and then if we do, its not like anything will change - except more work for us; canceling the Signature, Pre-ordering the Collectors...and they'd certainly do something douche-like along the lines of not including something in the Collectors that is in the Signature (like the bonus character)...fun times...

I hear you, I'm very sick of the preorder games that keep getting played these days too.   I just find it so odd that they announced it this way.  I can't ever remember a CE/LE being done this way.  Just announcing some arbitrary date 2 months or so before the release of the game, and saying, "Your cut off after that date."   It's always either limited so when supplies are gone they are gone, or they do a promo like this until release date, and then any sales are just the standard edition, but cutting it off way in advance like this?  It's odd.

It's even stranger since a huge percentage, like 75% or something like that of preorders happen in the last 2 or 3 months before a game's release date.  Retailers like Gamestop and Amazon often don't even put up thier preorder bonuses until about that time frame. So why on earth would you cut off the promo right when your getting into that time period before release?  Seems really stupid.   Unless it's only purpose is to stir up far advance preorders, then have some other edition or promo in those last couple months before release.

I know, I'm wondering into conspiracy theorist here, but it just is an awfully odd scenario.  Time will tell.  I'll just have to play the wait to cancel game with you and everyone else until the truth is revealed.
