I'm so tired of the 'We're not playing Sims!' line. I'll change it up: We aren't playing Fable.

Really everyone here has already summed up my feelings: Shep can have a kid, biological or adopted, in the epilogue. It shouldn't be mandatory--you should have a conversation with your LI about it during the game to get that ending. Same with marriage. It leaves a nice bit of closure for the romances, and those who think the idea is repulsive can just shoot down the idea to their LI. Problem solved.

Epilogue = Marriage, old age and a lot of little blue children.

Really don't see it happening any time before the epilogue...
Otherwise, we end up in this situation!

Please, not this. Romance with Kaidan is already complicated enough. "Hey Kaidan, I've missed you so much that even genetically engineered our daughter!"
Won't mind if he'll suggest Shepard to make family "after it all will end". Not before

Heh, well I'm not particularly pro or anti Shepkids.  I'm just thinking if such a concept could be done, and done well, I'd say go for it.

Now that I think of it, are there any RPGs out there where the main character has a kid (during game, not epilogue)?   There's Fable 2, but anything else?  Usually the character is "child of", not "parent of" in my experience.

In all honesty, if well executed, I think it could add significantly to the game. I'm cautiously willing to humor this idea.

Too bad my canon Shep would not enjoy the baby making business though. Unless they actually unleash supercute drell-human hybrid babies on the galaxy and at that point... uh, not willing to humor this idea anymore.

...Only Liara, Kaidan, Ashley, Jacob and (maybe) Jack can have kids with Shep anyways. And Liara can only have Asari babies.

So no I wouldn't want to see Shepard babies.

...Unless they're like the terminator or something.

No. You don't bring kids into the world that is about to be destroyed by the Reapers, especially if you are Shepard, certainly if you are Fem Shepard!

This. Shepard would be bonkers to even consider kids while the Reaper threat still exists.

another vote for Only In The Epilogue (for the love of gods) and even then I'd only buy it for certain genetically compatible love interests. Much as I support the 'we can adopt' idea it's a bit trickier to eloquently put in an epilogue... unless we run across a bunch of orphans in game... no, forget I said anything.

Well, it isn't known for certain if Shepard could even have kids after the whole death thing. I'm not sure the Lazarus project would take the time to restore Shepard's reproductive organs for the sake of a suicide mission. Although, if male Shepard was effectively neutered, that could possibly cause concern for a personality shift due to lack of testosterone production and could have been a reason they might have restored functionality.

That is an extremely good point now that I think about it.

Another problem Shep's "death" irks the hell out of me. <_<

Alas. No Dev will chime in on this here. :crying:

Well, thanks for making art so *awesome* that I want to use it!  :D

Indeed - these questions are all to easy for ManShep, but how many kinds of combat armour actually come in "pregnant" sizes?

...okay, I'll rephrase that.  How many kinds of non-krogan combat armour come in pregnant sizes?

TIM and Miranda made it clear that they restored Shepard exactly to how he was before he died so I take it this includes everything. They didn't want to change Shepard's personality in any way and missing sex hormones would have a big effect.

'As close as possible,' was the caveat. Which is a pretty big one, considering the upgrades they made elsewhere.

Have you had a kid running around with you during a crisis like world ending? Try playing Siren get to the stage where you're playing the teacher and have to protect the 1st grader with nothing but a flashlight from Shibito (basically more advanced with brains gun wielding zombies) not fun I'd really hate to be shep with baby or young child trying to fight of reapers or anything it would just suck.

During the course of the game? No too much of a distraction. Shown later in a DA:O/Fallout type epilogue if you have a LI and only certain ones at that (Miranda = "broken" aliens = incompatible minus Liara) if you choose that path wouldn't bother me though.

The idea of making Shepard a parent in ME3 is the supidest thing I have heard regarding it.

Dude you skipped a number they are welcome in ME4 also if its a Liara/Sheppard story line :D

My point was that by ME5 i doubt I'll be playing any more... Whatever comes after ME3 I will poke around at but for me the Universe is done after 3.... kids welcome when I am gone = ME5

I guess I don't understand what all the obsession is with people trying to lobby to get kids in the ME universe... I don't think there's a place for them in the story, and I don't want a story butchered just to get them in there.

First off, keep it to the epilogue if it is even possible.

Secondly, it needs to be with one of the ME1 LIs, and with either Kaiden of Ashley, it would likely need to be test-tube from 'previous deposits'. A likely reason for those two not telling you would be that on Horizon, they were pissed off at you, and afterwards, they wouldn't want to worry you with an unnecessary burden.

Liara taking a child to term is a possibiliy depending on the gestation period of the Asari. You would also likely not know anything about Liara's child since she would have her in hiding while she was hunting the Shadow Broker. Alternatively, she's probably the only one you could still reproduce with post-Lazarus in any case

As for post-Lazarus. It's highly doubtful that FemShep will be able to carry a child to term post-Lazarus. The female end of the reproductive system can be FUBAR without even affecting the ovaries, which actually produce the necessary hormones. MaleShep's choices are Miranda and Jack, and we know Miranda is infertile, and as someone previously pointed out, Jack has a LOT of scars, surgical or otherwise, plus the effects of drugs and other treatments on her bodily systems.

That said, it would not surprise me if TIM or someone else snagged themselves a sample of Shepard's genetic code to try to recreate the hero or attempt some selective breeding. From a evolutionary standpoint, it would really be tragedy if someone as badass as Shepard was removed from the gene-pool.

Unless the war against the Reapers takes decades or centuries, it's an epilogue sort of thing.
