I liked Wynne a lot. As snarky and cruel as I tended to be towards my other party members, I really fell for old Wynne and her graceful path toawrds dying. I liked Sten, too. Don't know who Jolee is, but he sounds cool. Allister on the other hand was the real whiner. I like funny party members the most though, so Shale was my favorite. She's probably why I want another grouch.

Well im an outcast in my own thread then because i thought:

Morrigan: Pretty much perfectly done
Alistair: done well for his character and funny
Ohgren: Funny and I liked his friendlyness late in the game.
Leliana: A little sappy at times but that was her and it made her great.
Sten: Boring, not interesting in the least if you ask me. Short answers? just leave now...
Wynne: Boring again, long wided bout crap I didnt care to hear.
Zevran: oh god no, he made me ill from look to voice to constantly hitting on me.
Shale: Didnt find funny at all. Just boring and useless.
Dog: never took him ever. Waste of companion slot

Justice: pretty cool, liked his attitude
Anders: Pretty funny, enjoyed his banter and very useful
Nathaniel: liked his banter and combacks
Sigrun: possibly favorite of awakenings
Valanna: horrible
Ohgren 2: horrible
Mhiri: poor Mhiri

More info on Jolee here: http://starwars.wiki...iki/Jolee_Bindo

I don't think he is much like Wynne at all aside from being old.

My least favorite character was Alistair. He whined almost all the time, did massive disapprovals on almost everything, and got along with pretty much nobody in the party. Recruit Zevran? disapproval. Recruit Shale? disapproval. Recruit Leliana? make crazy-person comments. And his interaction with Morrigan was just icing on the cake. And on my first playthrough he was all "oh hai but what about us?" before the landsmeet and I was like "what the hell are you talking about?" oh yea, more disapproval.

I am honestly wondering how much the elves and their lore are represented in DA2 at all. My fear is that it will be a complete Mages vs Chantry thing. Not that it would be boring, but the elven lore left alot of questions open.

There better be at least one kick-ass Elf companion. A hot romancable female would be nice but I think Valanna ruined it for Elf Females... you think?

I'm one of those jerks ruining the telemetry data by playing mostly humans and romancing humans exclusively, so I don't want! :P

(Not precisely true, but pretty close)

I liked her on and off. In my opinion the charater just wasn't done well in the execution. So basically I liked the concept but not how it played out in game. Some conversations (banter and dialogue) were ridiculously childish which I dont' think was supposed to be that way. Other than that I don't mind human hating, vengeful or self-righteous elves in general.

Meh, Velanna. She was pretty.. yikes. I wanted to like her because she was Dalish and thought we could have shared some neat perspectives on society but oh no she just wanted to rant and rave about everything. I would have preferred a full party of Morrigans to putting up with Velanna for any length of time.

That said, I don't really have "favourites" from Origins as I truly liked all the companions for different reasons. Even Wynne-the-hypocrite. I guess it just shows how well the writing was, they all felt life-like and interesting.

Funny thing I liked Wynne and Leliana just fine at my first playthrough. But the more I got from their preaching the less I wanted to hear it. So in my most recent playthroughs I just wanted the dialogue option 'We do it my way and if you don't like it then get the **** out of my party'. They were kinda the high fantasy people who got lost and ended up in a dark fantasy world.

I liked that Sten wasn't needlessly complex. Sophisticated is the word. He took his beliefs seriously and part of those beliefs was not to waste a word. That is an admirable trait that I wish I shared with him.

I didn't like Zev at first either, but I really got to know him in my most recent playthrough and I found him to be completely incorrigable. This is a trait I share with him. His funniest lines were between he and Wynne.

Allister had his moments, but he was such a wuss at times. It would have been fine if he were a child, but dude was as old or probably older than the Warden. Yeesh, stop streaking my chain mail with tears.

Oghren is my little homie. He's a mess but, he's funny and good in a fight. Nuff said.

Leliana was basically the perfect woman. I almost blame her for deciding to hook up with an ex one time. Really bad mistake.

You already know why I liked Wynne.

Shale was hilarious! She was also oblivious to how funny she was, too, so that made it even better.

Justice was kind of boring if you ask me. I didn't dislike him or anything, but he was sorta just...there.

Completely agree about Anders. He, Wynne, Oggie, and Zev would make one hell of a night out of a bar crawl.

Nate was cool, too.

Velanne (when I was able to pay attention at least) was sorta like Shale. I doubt I would have been able to find that out if I would have taken he bigotry to heart. That's a lot easier to do, with Elves not existing and stuff.

Oggie started to get on my nerves a bit in Awakenings, I'll admit. But, I've been through the ringer a few times too, and my pals helped me through it, so I guess I had some perspective on his troubles.

Dog was just dog. Wish it was a little more aware.

Poor Mhiri indeed.

Oh, and Morrigan is probably my other perfect woman (I can have two and nobody's gonna convince me otherwise).

Never heard them described that way before but it's so true! My tomboyish Wardens found Leliana's attempts to doll her up and go shoe shopping annoying. And I have yet to play what I'd considered an Andrastian or pro-Chantry sort of character so the preaching definitely goes through one ear and out the other. Still, I liked their side-quests and at least you can harden Leliana. And most of my characters require a competent healer so Wynne usually ends up sticking around (though the better I get at the game, the more I don't need her spirit healing).

Qunari Ladies: Horns to grab hold of.

Dwarf ladies: The gravity defying positions are basically limitless.

Who isn't for hot romancables, just harder to do with Qunari and Dwarves I think. (please dont attack me Varric fangurls) I know, I know Thats just like, my opinion man right UpsettingShorts?

Anyways gotta call it for now. Thread got 4 pages an no lock yet. Pretty good for one of my threads. I dont think a dev has ever posted in one of my threads though. Except of course to say "end of line"

Wouldnt it be grand If we got some info on Elves from them here. Oh well. not holding my breath though.

That's 95% of the forum, my posts included, heh.

My favorite part of that Phillip Rivers pic?  That I always read it as "one hand happy, other hand sad" - like the hands themselves had feelings.

I agree that it would be interesting to get an answer, if the lore was guided by design or the design guided by lore, sure.

General comment:  I think my dislike of elves in fiction stems entirely from my dislike of androgynous aesthetics. It also explains how I have a hard time enjoying JRPGs.

I think my dislike started out as something immature, based on my own preconceptions about gender, but even as those evolved as I gained understanding, my aesthetic preferences stuck.

Works for females, not so much the males though. Da wasn't really androgynous thank the maker.

anyways, really last post... *slinks back into shadows*

The Arlathan elves are sorta like the Forerunners and the Protheans. I think adding them to the game would be a disservice to the lore. Better to leave them as enigmatic ancestors the wielded incredible power that still resonates thousands of years after their passing. If one showed up all of a sudden he or she couldn't possibly live up to the myth.

Especially if it's female, 'cause Hawkes gonna try to get in her britches if I can help it.
