Too many good PC RPG's in 2011 to care about consolised titles.

If you want to be taken seriously, on the other hand, instead of saying that socialism exists in various degrees, have to acknowledge that in the western world, central planning is kept to a minimum, especially after the 80s.

Unless your opinion is that Marxism is not a form of central planning, which would be totally opposite to what's taught at any university course, I really don't see what you're trying to say.

Sure defendants are willing to resurrect dead theories, thank god the real world has made intelligent choices and tbh I don't see much point in this. You like marxism, good for you. You think it could work out and that besides no working example of central planning this one would work out, again good for you. The thing is the verdict says otherwise but by all means your political beliefs are your own business.

I've never heard the term "central planning" used by any academic instructor or author. So I don't know what you're getting at. I have read Marx, and have taken university courses which have either focussed on or dealt with Marxism. For all I know, most university courses might teach Marxism as a form of "planning", but not the ones I've taken. And the way the courses I've taken have presented the material seems to match the material itself - which you admittedly have not read, but apparently think you know enough about to speak on. And as great as that is for you, I'm not going to pretend opinion based on ignorance is valid.
Enough about Marxism from me.

 Neverwinter? Really?

Only game i am looking forward to next year is Guild Wars 2.

They seem to be raising the bar on quality of online RPG's.

Well I'm sorry it's the first time you hear the term, maybe reading Hayek instead of Marx would help in that department.

Took a brief look at Hayek and "central planning"

And no: Marxism is most definitely NOT a form of central planning. Marxism, in fact, predicts a dissolution of state institutions, which seems completely inconsistent with central planning.
There. NOW I'm done.

Is the political back and forth an attempt to get the thread locked? Because I dont think it needed any help.

I'd rather say it's an attempt to make the thread have some actual worth.

I think we have an empiricist in our midst! Grab your pitchforks!

well if what actually happened is not good enough, here's what an economist once said,

Even if we need a religion, how can we find it in the turbid rubbish of the red bookshop? It is hard for an educated, decent, intelligent son of Western Europe to find his ideals here

 failed models are failed models

Apart from the self-serving (the economist was of western origin, if I had to guess-if not, disregard 'self-serving') compliments, I do not understand what the quote implies. I hope it's not at the level of 'communism=bad, wesern standards=good' it seems to be at to me-please explain.

Failed models are certainly failed models, I do not dispute historical fact, but I do dispute the validity of the claim that what's theoretically possible is only possible just so, and has no legitimacy in the real world. Circumstances change, sometimes drastically, and allow for possibilities that weren't viable beforehand. In other words, merely saying that 'something hasn't worked in the past, and therefore won't work now' isn't good enough, in my opinion, especially if various societal factors happen to be quite different from what they were during the original model implementations.

Hope console gamers have fun though.

Forgot Diablo III, Drakensang :The River of Time, and RIsen 2 maybe? I hope.

Not that I care about consolized h&s's but I think this list is not a valid pov.

Neverwinter is an MMO, Guild Wars II also an MMO. Regarding Darkspore, is this an rpg? Drakensang better be improved in comparison to their first title.

Since this thread is already horribly offtopic.... I managed to acquire an english version of Drakensang 2 the other day so I'll give you a player review.   Companion interaction is much improved from the first one, they pipe in a lot more, almost in every npc interaction, you usually have some companion skill related checks that can be made to acomplish different things in almost all of those.  The trade off is that there are far less party members than the first game (only 5 that I have found so far).

The game itself is much less linear, all the places you visit change and new side quest chains open up frequently after story events.  Two new classes, and all of the achetypes are custimizable (appearance wise) at character creation now.  A new miracle casting sysytem, that uses a different resource system(I've only found one party member that has access to it though, not sure how to get my PC to unlock it) ... what else... combat has been sped up some, most noticably running and casting animations.

That's all I can think of that's different than the first, it's much improved imo, I'm not sure the english version is ever going to be released though seeing as how Radion Labs (the publisher) went bankrupt.  I havn't heard if DTP found a new one yet, if anything it's going to delay the release of a third game (and the already completed expansion)

This whole thread is ironic considering that two of the most hardcore RPG series are Disgaea and Front Mission (Not counting Evolved). Both are console-only and are every bit as hardcore as Arcanum or Baldur's Gate.

I love how people start complaining about DA2's combat being "dull" and the world looks "ugly and grey" even though the game isn't even finished yet. People are basing WAY too much off of the demo's and clearly getting the wrong ideas. If anything wait till an official gameplay video is made before pointing fingers and trolling the forums.

Well that's kind of my point.

Bioware chose their audience, screwed PC gamers up the ***, I see no reason to buy DA II honestly.

If you guys would like to talk about RPGs in general, there is an Off-Topic Forum. If you want to discuss politics, find a political forum.

Also as a big fan of the first Deus Ex I could care less about the new one since the developer is not the same. Same for Diablo 3. Both are wait and see for me.
