I picked up The Witcher about a week ago, and I must say that I like it.
The city is always bustling with people in stead of just 10 people who always stand at the same spot and I really like the spit into day and night and the differences that come with that, and the fact that you have to buy/find books to be able to recognise monsters and loot
A big part of my gametime is spent buying and reading all books that I can find (and after I bought them, I find them in some old barrel..)

Since I just know part 1 I havent been following part II but from what I've seen here, it looks great. I just put my pre-order in

These are the things that I thought TW did very well. Finally there is a game where day-night cycle is not just to show off lighting algorithms and annoy me that I cannot find some NPC. TW actually makes it a gameplay feature and it even makes sense.

Also, Vizima is probably the best city I've seen in an RPG. BioWare's Mass Effect came around the same time as TW and if you compare The Citadel to Vizima, TW wins hands down.

We should all just enjoy what little good we get out of the rpg genre since we only get a few solid titles each year. Witcher is different type of rpg than Dragon Age. It may not have as much customization but I enjoy the story, the world and the atmosphere much more. Geralt is awesome. He may not be your character entirely as he is already very well established but I love his attitude to the world and everything. It is much refreshing after tons of self righteous heroes.

Will The Witcher 2 be a legend? I don't know.  The first one certinly was for me. But so is ME and ME2 and I can't wait to get my hands on DA:O and DA2

I don't think so.

Did they comment on whether or not your potential conflict with Triss re: Alvin would carry over? That's their really big chance to make a splash in the consequences over games department that Bioware dramatically dropped the ball on in ME2.

No they haven't, and that would be a big spoiler anyway. It would be cool if she carried a grudge in TW2 for players who gave Alvin to Shani. Like I mentioned before, I'm not expecting big things to carry over because just like in ME2, they have to try and make a standalone game. They can't tailor the sequel too much for people who import their TW1 files. At least I think it would be very difficult to do.

Edit: If you skip to 1:13, you get to see Geralt using some explody bombs :wizard:. It's all in German, so no spoilers.

heh nice but I'm not suprise ;) bombs, traps and alchemy is great thing in 1 Witcher soo why not for second game? ;)...

well I would be really happy if Triss will be have "closed doors" to as in Witcher 2 if we chose Shani in first game ;)

They could have a cannon, though. So if you don't import - Geralt gets along with Triss like Geralt that gave her Alvin (you don't need Alvin specific dialogue). Whereas Geralt otherwise has some extra dialogue/content where he has to basically make up with Triss.

Really a big fan of the sheaths.

Erm question been bothering me for a while now and I thought the fans might be the ones to know, why isn't Geralt and his brethren called warlocks instead of witchers in the english version is it a mistranslation or something.

Seems a bit odd.

Hmm... perhaps I'm missing something, but why would they be called warlocks?

I will quantify the following statement with the fact that I am by no means an expert on Geralt or his world.

Male witch is a warlock in english, that's what witcher means doesn't it?

My understanding was that Sapkowski made up the word 'wiedźmin.' So I guess the English translators went along the same lines and made up the word 'witcher.'

Wait... so do we actually meet Philippa Eilhart in the game? I remember in TW1 that we've seen her only in the mirror.

If anything, Two Worlds II, Dungeon Siege III, TES V: Skyrim, and Diablo III will no doubt destroy the Witcher II. Two Worlds and Dungeon Siege iffy, though. There are just way too many RPGs coming out this year, which is fantastic. I'm not at all interested in the Witcher II the first game was terrible.

well this is your opinion... but Two Worlds II better than Witcher 2?... bhahahahaha get out from your cave... TES V: Skyrim will be good... Diablo 3 is hack'a'slash -_-...

I just curious why people thing that Diablo is RPG?... for me in 2011 there are 5 good RPG-s : Dragon Age 2, Witcher 2, TES V: Skyrim ( if it will be in 2011), Dark Souls and Deux Ex 3. Two Worlds 2... heh

Because everyone has their own definition of what an RPG is?
