But holy hell, this game is glorious. I am running it on medium settings and it still looks stunning(something that can't be said about DA2, yeeees, comparing again!).

The combat system is really improved too(even though I didn't mind the TW1 one) and button mashing kind of strategy doesn't really pay off here.

So... I guess the only complaining we'll be hearing is the mysogynist stuff. Aye? xD

Regarding the combat, from a Hands-On article I read the difficulty at the beginning seems to be caused by the removal of certain 'overpowering' features from the orginal game: like the Group style, auto-block, and nerfed Signs. However these limitations are removed by investing talents in the relevant skill trees. For instance 360deg parry skill, a skill which rewards a successful block with a counterattack, a multiple-attack skill etc.

Basically it should get better once you progress into the game. The problem is Geralt is already facing armies and dragons even in the Prologue. Any other game would probably just have some fodder battles that served as a tutorial.

Game is HARD. But i quite like it. It requires tactics, and at first lot of reloading, learning curve is not the easiest.

For some its bad design and i can understand that.

No. And that is probably hardest part.

But i think there is skill similar (a'la group style) to this later in game, could be wrong.

You can always pop a grenade.

My CE finally arrived, the bust's paint is a bit worn out but it's all good. I think the the registration servers for TW2 are down atm, so I'll just finish up my hw then install.

Sucks there is no return policy on PC games here console games yes you have 7 days to return them but not PC ARGHH dunno what to do it looks amazing but I don't know about the combat system and it sucks there is no demo for this game also I hope there are relationships in this game not just one night stands

Been playing it for some hours now, the game is glorious. The dialoge is good, the combat is a noticeable improvement from the previous game, and the world feels alive.

Overall, I'd say this is the best RPG this year. Maybe last year's too.

zazally: I've heard that is works if you select 5.1 instead of 7.1 or something (from neogaf or gametrailers I think). Don't quote me though.

my only gripe so far is framerate issues despite updating drivers, it's weird that i can change the video settings from low to high and get the same (poor) framerate

As i was playing the Witcher 2 it was more than apparent to me: It was made painstakingly by a team who built something they believed in, not just something they made up quickly to sell... it is a labour of love with incredible attention to detail and it shows... The graphics are amazing, jaw dropping, the characters interesting and ambiguous, there are moral choices, the battle system is greatly improved over the first game the plot is intriguing and really movie like, the quests are cleverly materialized... And what about the package? A coin, maps, making of, all the songs, unbelievable package...This game ups the ante in a dramatic way, and thus i believe it is a turning point for the gaming industry. Quite probably the best RPG over the past few years. I think a clash of titanic proportions is ahead of us. Witcher 2 vs Skyrim!

Extremely disappointing game which is hindered by its platonic characters, unintuitive combat and extreme difficulty.

Even on the first prologue
level you encounter a level of frustration that is not supposed to be
combined with entertainment. Even after decreasing the setting to the
very lowest it is harder than any RPG I have tried before, even harder
than Dragon Age 2 before we patched it.
If you haven't lost your patience and go on with the story you will find
gratuitous sex scenes and a gender view that is just disgusting in this
day and age, where women are treated like female dogs and men are made
superior on all aspects. The combat is simply a buttonmasher with no
need for skill at all, the quicktime events that require precise timing
and skill are sparse in favor of a really stupid combatsystem where you
only have two attacks, weak and strong. In comparison to its superior
brother, Dragon Age 2, it feels inferior in all aspects and I would not
recommend this game to anyone but masochists.

It's pretty impressive that's its at 9.1 score despite the obvious Bioware trolls. What the question REALLY is if it can beat ME2 for critic reviews.
