It's
obvious that it's fake, Mr Gaider would never do such a thing, dont
these people realize that they are hurting Bioware?
Well if they are giving TW2 a zero that defeats the whole purpose doesn't it?
It means they hurting both Bioware and CDPR at the same time.
Exactly. They are trolls. Probably some of them are the same ones that had a part in the trashing of DA2's Metacritic. Some people are intent on pushing the needless rivalry between the two groups of fans for these games as far as it'll go, when really we are all just RPG/computer game fans. It's very silly, I wish Metacritic user scores didn't even exist at this point. I can't believe some people actually think that could have been Gaider.
Anyway, looking at the worthwhile feedback to this game it's going to be really interesting to see how people consider it a few years down the line. It certainly looks like it's going to be the latest RPG to have real staying power. Which makes me wonder where CD Projekt are planning on going next? Would be very interesting if they did join up with Zenimax. Will they just keep making Witcher games for the time being? They are adding on stories after the books afterall so the sky is presumably the limit. Or would they rather create their own IP perhaps?

Yeah, unfortunately they have always expressed an interest in getting into developing for consoles. Even TW1 was originally planned for a release on them, but that fell apart too. There is still a good chance of TW2 making it to consoles if they can sort the issue of graphics, I wonder if it is reliant at all on the sales of TW2?
I think at the end of the day almost every developer out there wants to expose their creation to the widest possible amount of people, and thus they so often go multi-platform. I imagine CD P will continue to put PC gaming first regardless, unless they get bought up by a corp or get offered the development of some specific game the publisher would like released on consoles?

This. I'm still experimenting to find the best quality and framerate I hate having to exit the game over and over.

I'm on medium custom, medium isn't really that bad, still good quality, try configuring from there.

It's ridiculous. We have so few in-game settings with controls, graphics, or sound. Totally wasn't expecting this. Oh well, just got off of work and I have a long night of graphical configuration ahead.

At least I have no complaints so far about Witcher 2 gameplay wise. Combat is very satisfying on normal...the higher difficulties seem more intimidating now.

Aw, come on Slim! Get over it! This game looks amazing whatever setting you can play it! Change some video settings in DA2 and it will say that restart is required to changes to take effect. It's about the same to close the game, tweak and restart.

That's Assassin's Creed Altair! There is a pic of him lost many pages back! Nice easter egg!

This game really epitomizes everything that’s wrong with the direction that some companies are taking the RPG genre. The story is uninspired and fails to adequately motivate the player, the player character is also clichéd and dull with few interesting characteristics. It feels like the developers looked at all the great storytelling done over the years in RPGs like Baldur’s Gate or Dragon Age and threw it all away. One can only assume they expected their gameplay to make up for this shortcoming, but it fails to do so. The controls are awkward and feel despite being a PC exclusive, make it feel like a console port, which when laid on top of the already poor combat mechanics, make each fight feel like a grind. While interacting with other characters provides some relief from the worst of the gameplay the characters really don’t offer any depth, and seem to serve simply as a backdrop against which to put women who the player can interact with sexually, I suppose CD Projekt thought us nerds would pay for some pathetic dating simulator. There really is nothing to redeem this game, and if you are looking for an RPG to invest in you are probably better off with one of the other recent offerings such as Bioware’s Dragon Age 2.
I don't know about that one, but back when DA2 came out it was confirmed by EA/Bioware that they were real, official accounts. They defended their actions saying that "A president would vote for himself, so why can't we". And if you look at those accounts, they only vote on DA2 and TW2.
I have no doubt in my mind these are real accounts from real Bioware employees, as over the last year I've watched Bioware fall from one of the most respected developers of our time to just another lowlife publisher lapdog. It really is sad, but I think it shows the state their in right now that with all the negative press they've been recieving, they're only recourse is to try and lower other companies to their level.
They'll get theirs, I have no doubt.
But in this case (fake DavidGaider account) I really really doubt that,
because reviews/accounts like this are doing more damage to Bioware than to The Witcher 2.
An "accident"? Thats why they came out and defended his actions? That was no "Accident", that was intentionall rigging of the reviews.

I plan to buy Witcher 2 EVEN if I would never play it. The fact that they sold the Digital Collector's Edition for 45 dollars compared to DA2's $60. The fact that they are giving away ALL DLC for free is a winner in my book and they are the companies I like to support.

Heres a list of what does what, and you can make a more accurate decision about what you belive your machine can handle.
-Texture downscaling: higher values result in lower texture quality.
-Texture memory size: sets the amount of graphics card memory allocated to textures. Larger values will decrease the amount of streaming that occurs in game and will make the game run more smoothly, but they can also cause the graphics card to run out of memory and even result in game crashes. Choose a reasonable value based on the amount of memory available on your graphics card.
- Shadow quality: affects graphics performance. Consumes GPU power without affecting CPU performance.
- Number of shadowed lights: set the maximum number of lights that cast shadows. Affects graphics performance. Consumes GPU power without affecting CPU performance.
- LOD distance: distance scale for level of detail on meshes. Lower values improve game performance but result in reduced detail on models.
- Bloom: effect greatly improves quality of game graphics without placing excess demands on GPU.
- Light shafts: visual effect recommended for medium-high/high-end machines. Should be disabled on older systems.
- Anti-aliasing: demanding effect that can significantly reduce performance, so it should be disabled on medium and low-end machines.
- Blur effects: special blur and radial blur visual effects that are quite demanding on hardware but used rarely in the game.
- Depth of field – gameplay: subtle visual effect. Option determines appearance of effect only during gameplay sequences and does not affect DoF in cutscenes.
- Vignette: aesthetic option that produces a photographic vignette around the game screen. Does not affect performance.
- Rain, Wet surfaces rain effect: modest impact on performance.
- SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion): lighting effect that is important to the game but unfortunately places significant demands on the GPU.
- Motion blur: blur effect on camera movement, demanding on the GPU.
- Cinematic depth of field: provides movie-like depth of field in cutscenes and dialogue sequences. Extremely detailed but demands significant power. Should only be enabled on machines equipped with top-end graphics cards.
- Depth of field – cutscenes: option only affects cutscenes and dialogue sequences, does not affect gameplay performance.
- Dangling objects limit: limiter for physical animation of character components like Geralt's hair. Disabling this option places greater demands on the CPU.
- Ubersampling: high quality rendering mode under which whole scenes are rendered multiple times to provide the best possible textures, object details and anti-aliasing (superior to anti-alias and anisotropy even on the highest settings). Use with caution, only on top-end computers (best possible in terms of both GPU and CPU).
- Vertical sync: helps eliminate "screen tearing" (http://en.wikipedia..../Screen_tearing) during camera movements and blinking on very quick animations (e.g., bright explosions), but can cause somewhat slower rendering and short input lags.
- Decals: enabling decals like dust or blood on characters can affect CPU performance.

Is it your fake post, or why do you promote this nonsense here? Just look for one second at a few posts made by the (genuine) Mike here on these boards. Now look at that post you linked. It's not hard to tell it isn't the same person, is it?
And on topic. I like TW2, a lot. Just finished the Prologue, and I'm suprised how well it performs on my somewhat dated system, despite many features turned on and set on high/very high. That said, it's a great game, so far. It's beautiful, and has a level of maturity I've never seen in a video game. However, gameplay isn't exactly "awesome."
So, now you can continue to argue about worthless websites like metacritic. Let's hope someone will make a thread were we can talk about the actual game. Or rather, let's use this one?
