After having this for a day, I am really disappointed by the combat. It is better than the first, which is not saying much at all, but it still feels clunky and not very engaging. Attack, roll away, repeat has been my experience so far and I am very nonplussed about it.

That's why i like the tactical party based rpgs vs the action ones. More often than not the combat tends to get very monotonous.

Demons Souls melee combat being the exception. Too bad the rest of the game was very lackluster.

This I agree with. The constant shuffling/rolling routine got old really quick. Otherwise the game is stellar so far, IMO.

Not that I'm particularly surprised but that reviewer really had it out for DA2. Although I was quite surprised that of all the things he chose to criticise of DA2 in a TW2 review he chose customisation of the player character. I mean, TW2 is a great game but they are seriously restricted by the source material in requring you to not only play a set character but also be unable to vary his appearance (or make 'him' a her for that matter).

Don't get me wrong, TW2 is obviously an incredible game, but that bit seemed kinda daft. It's one of the reasons I hope to see CDP try their hand at a less restrictive game at some point, be it a new IP or whatever. They obviously have oodles of creativity.

Seeing that 10 makes it all the more gutting that Skyrim is coming out this year really. TW2 definitely deserves GotY or 'Best RPG' recognition, but I just can't see it happening (at least from most) unless Bethesda seriously mess up with Skyrim.

I played both DA2 and TW2 they can't be compared.. its like compare diamonds(TW2) with rust iron (DA2) im sorry but this time bioware gets owned so bad! i hope they wake up an on future make better games

You know what would be fantastic? If all the DA2 vs. TW2 posts - especially ones about Metacritic user reviews - were in other, more clearly labeled as annoying threads.

That damn dragon part was a **** on med difficulty even. Now I'm in the camp. And what a great scene! I love it.

Still waiting on GoG for those Polish vo's. Doesn't feel right playing in English.

Yet everything you've every complained about re DA2 is in TW2 as well.

I know what you mean but it's difficult when even professional reviewers are using the thing as a primary portion of their review.

Honestly, that last bit of "is it better than..." always makes me cringe on the gamesradar reviews. This particular one was just extra daft. "I hate X game for limiting player customization! Oh, but Y game that has ZERO player customization is great!" ... jeez.

Never mind the "BOOBSLOLOLOL" caption on one of the pics... 

Anyway, hope everyone here is enjoying TW2.

Make of that what you will. Perhaps CD Projekt thought The Witcher 2 would get slammed in reviews, so decided to delay them as long as possible. Alternatively, they may have not sent any copies so that the public could be assured that no review of the game was 'paid for' - something which many accused Dragon Age 2 of.

I'm glad you said this, more people need to be aware of it. Too many take day-1 RPG reviews on too much faith.

I must admit, I have no idea what kind of gaming rig you are playing on. So far for me, The Witcher 2 essentially has no loading bars in the whole game. Yes, The Witcher 1 was terrible on loading times, but we're not talking about that. The Witcher 2 has far fewer loading bars than DA2 so far.

I'm talking about when booting up the game initially, but in-game yes the loading is faster.

I'm running it on Ultra graphics settings and the framerate is between 35-60 FPS, and is beautiful at times, but also uneven with its texture resolutions, so forgive me if my jaw didn't drop when I saw the game for the first time. Oh, you mean exactly the same as DA2 (the beta driver being required on day 1)? TW2 graphics > DA2 graphics in every aspect. Heck, TW1 graphics > DA2 graphics in almost every possible way.

But not the sound nor the overall presentation. Plus, this is a DX9 game that needs a beta driver, not a DX11 game. I had to uninstall 3D drivers just to get performance improvements. At least DA2 I could run on day one without system updates. I'm just saying that the TW2 experience so far isn't 100% lollipops and rainbows.

The Witcher 2 world is so alive, it's just beautiful. I find myself just standing around and looking at scenery sometimes.

I found the combat tedious at first, but the more I get used to it, the more fun I'm having with it. Aside from that the game is fantastic.

Edit:  But one thing they need to get better at in Witcher games is facial expressions.  It's better then the first game, but facial expressions is still not a strong point.

You know what. I tried it on hard about 17 times and I sucked it up and changed to normal. I don't think I'm ready for hard let alone Insanity!

Ok hten:
The paraprhasing in thw witcher 2 match with the dialogue in DA2 almost not
The story the ambient and evrything also dialogues are maded really fine much better than dragon age 2
The ambient felt ALIVE not loke a desert kirkwall
The combat animation are COOL and not childish japanese choppy one..
Should i continue?
And oh most important FACT in TW2 you make choice that have REALLY consequences....
