I've always called Diablo an action RPG myself. It doesn't matter, I'm pretty stoked about D3.

I'm looking forward to every game on Damariel's list except Dark souls cause I don't have a console and DA2 because I don't like the DRM.

well I don't say that D3 will be bad ... but for me it's hack'a'slash more that RPG :)...

I will do my list again ... in right order:
1.Witcher 2 ( surprise surprise ;) )
2. Deus Ex Human Revolution
3. Dark Souls
4. TES V:Skyrim
5. Dragon Age 2

Now it's better I think ;)

^^^Not impressed. Console interface, console 'bloody damage screen', cut-away screens for finishing moves instead of keeping it in the same perspective.

Very disappointing, the way CD red has opted to mimic their influences instead of finding their own way. Much like Bioware did for ME2.

I'm not sure what "finding their own way" would really mean. If a feature gets a lot of criticism, you can either try to pull out a new interpretation that will or won't work or go with a "standard" feature that seems to have worked in industry.

But it might be really bad. I'm waiting on the vid to stream now.

Probably we will see what that mean after release.

Ehh maybe... but it's Pre-Beta so game is more polished and looks different right now ... btw quests nonlinearity is good (this is side-quest in video).

Dang, that looked aweful. I hope that is a beta or whatever because that looks sucky. If that is what the game consists of, I think Two Worlds II will crush it. Hey, and I'm not a Two Worlds: II fanboy; I'm not that big of a fan of TES either, but I do know that the Witcher was mediocore. If anything, I am solely waiting for Dungeon Siege III since I've been playing that series since I was a kid.

We all get it. you think any other game will 'crush' The Witcher. If you hate the game so much, start a new thread devoted to hating it.

Well, the gameplay is pre-beta, which explains a lot. I still don't like the red haze when Geralt takes damage. I can see where it might have a purpose in FPS games, but in The Witcher it's out of place, and unnecessary. I hope mods can remove it. Really hope.

The flow of combat actually looks pretty good, even in this early build. Environments and particle effects also look good. I wonder why they chose to showcase such an old build of the game.

Maybe because this is part of game that they have already show to reporters (read IGN rewiew for example) but they don't show this to us (gamers) yet? :)

The usual reason would be stability.

Forgive me for being out of the loop, I know this is a PC game but I'm curious has there been any talk by the developers or anyone of a console port of any sort? Just curious.

They've stated that the game engine has been designed with consoles in mind from the very beginning. I'd be surprised if it didn't come to consoles. They just haven't confirmed it yet.

The alpha buld in the gamespot video features an interface with all the console trappings: radial menu, list inventory, etc.

No official confirmation yet, but in one of the interviews CD Projekt hinted that they're looking for developers with console experience and that it has something to do with TW2.

On the other hand, they tried a console port with TW1 and it did not quite work out.

Where in god's name did they find these artists? This image is one of the most amazing concept designs I have ever seen for a game. Like Frank Frazetta mixed with Arthur Rakham.

So they graduated from a hardcore RPG to supercore? Or is it a downgrade?

I think its silly interviewers insist on comparisons with Dragon Age.  RPGs should stand on their own merit.  Not to mention these type of questions take away space from talking more about the game.

yeah this might be a problem. But sadly people love compare everything.

I can't say I'm thrilled with CD red's attatchement to QTE's for the bar fights. Or to QTE's period. Guess I'll have to play it to find out. Arm wrestling might be fun. I never could get into the dice game. The quest they talk about sounds like classic Witcher structure: hard to predict, branching outcomes.

I'm not sure synching your quest progress on Facebook or Twitter is a good idea. If it's just a matter of your character stats, like Bioware does on the site here, it makes sense, and it's something I suggested at CD red's site some time ago. Otherwise, it will just mean net-wide spoilers for a story-based game.

As far as any sort of competition between the two studios, it's clear by now that fans and the media will continue to play it up. I get the sense the devs at CD red feel they are willng to strive for features that Bioware isn't including in their games. Just me reading between the lines, perhaps.
