Yep. I saw the console version of The Witcher in my friend's console and it is not so good. Let's expect that they will deal better this time
Thats a pretty amazing thing considering it was never finished and released...
Indeed, that friend must have been a developer or something...
The only reason the console version of TW1 was never finished is for obscure financial reasons and deadlines not being met by the third-party developer.

In my opinion you should get a PC version and perhaps upgrade your PC. It's definitely worth it for the bells and whistles of the visuals.. Yeah i know many Bioware fans used to say graphics is not core elements in an RPG.. But this game has all of it!.. With the visuals, it can create the mood and sense of immersion in the game... which many failed to see.
With dated graphics and lots of text to read it's just like reading a book. But if a game is that beautiful you are actually reading an interactive book. That's just my opinion of course.

Yep. Post your computer specs lionalio87. If your computer's fairly new, there's a good chance your processor will be fine and all you'll need to do is buy a new graphics card. The game still looks fantastic on the lower settings.

I will blow up CDPR's headquarters if they release a console version. No Witcher for consoles, not until we get Red Dead Redemption and LA Noir!
Or maybe you don't want the Witcher 2 to outsell DA2 seeing you've been pushing that agenda a few pages back.

Well, The Witcher 2 comes. But what the hell? It requires a demon to run it.
. Maybe I should wait till the console version available. Many praises for the game makes me more and more curious to play the game.
Can anyone provide me some more trusted source that confirm the available console version of it?
i'm thinking of not continuing my playthrough until i inevitably upgrade my graphics card myself
once i got to Flotsam in Chapter 1 the framerate started dipping into single digit territory regardless of what tweaking i did to the video settings, before that it was always pretty low like 25-ish but playable
fighting monsters with really bad framerate isn't very playable

It's definitely worth persevering. The game didn't really grab me until towards the end of Chapter II but I greatly enjoyed it by the end.
It's just very complicated at the beginning, which can be discouraging.
But, as I said before, TW1 is a recurring thought in my head, so I will definetily start playing it again.
And if I complete TW1 and I want to play TW2, I'll make sure that my gaming rig gets upgraded first.
I bet that a GTX 275 won't be good enough for TW2...
Yeah the beginning can definitely be a big turn off, I've seen many people have the same problem. If it has stuck in your head though I do think you will enjoy it if you can get over that hurdle. A big part of TW1 is whether you can get hooked in the lore and the setting in general, if you can then it ends up being easy to overlook it's flaws (much like DA2 for me).
I'm in the same boat in regards to TW2, although the plan was originally to upgrade for Skyrim I have decided to upgrade earlier instead mostly because of TW2. So far it's not that easy building a PC at an affordable price that can run those two games! At least there is a lot of discussion about what set ups work best with TW2 at this point.
RE: LA Noire: Would love to see that on the PC. If it is as much a traditional adventure game (point and click) as it is a Rockstar sandbox then it seems like it should be on the system that championed that style of game for so long.

It weren't the sex cards. At first, when I heard of them, I thought "What?" But after having played TW1, they really ain't so bad. They aren't forced on your screen, you can just hit escape and continue.
I liked the combat, though I did get annoyed at times. You had to time the stuff at the right time, and you had to change constantly between attack stances. And then you had the two different sort of swords:
Silver swords and steel swords, which confused me somewhat more, as I didn't know which sword I had to use against which monster.
Silver swords are always for monsters, any monster. Steel for humans. They do not work well otherwise.
Another thing is that I'm pretty much used to "Drink potion, heal wounds instantly!", so I had a hard time not judging the game on that. Though it did increase healing rate... Even though I... for a lack of better words, "hated" it, I also liked it. It made it somewhat more realistic.
Because... Well, let's face it:
You break a bone or three in a battle and all you gotta do is "eat" or drink a health potion or snack or health pack or whatever and you are back in action. Which, when you look at it, doesn't really make much sense at all.
Old Gothic 1 fans in CDPR who thinks that healing during combat = cheating! I agree. Spamming healing pots just kills the challenge for me!
The alchemy part was interesting, but barely used it. Except for this mission in this crypt in Act 1 in the pitch black darkness. Made three potions to see there. Though I didn't find much there. Apart from four walls that were blocking the other rooms... Didn't knew how to get past them. Until Act 2.
I was actually glad that it had such a long effect on Geralt.
Did you ever revisited the Crypt in the Outskirts? Did you miss one of the Trophy head bosses? Get them all and youre rewarded a nice sword later in the game! Alchemy is just wonderful in TW1. On Hard mode it is the difference between a successful fight and lots of reloads!
I also had a hard time with keeping my money in my purse. It flew out in no time, simply because I had to meditate for levelling up.
It was only until level 6 or 7 that I realized I could increase my skills...:P xD
My journal was all cluttered. During Act 2, I looked in my journal and scratched my head, mumbling "Er... Where should I start...?" Sometimes, I didn't even know what I had to do.
And the fact I had to collect codexes so that I could extract certain ingredients was a bit strange. But that wasn't much of a problem, since I never did any sort of alchemic stuff.
No, TW1 is definetily a good game. But since I mostly have played FPS games and Mario games and stuff in my life, it might explain why some of the stuff bothered me. There's an interesting plot, I can see it. I can feel it. I can hear it. But the game just doesn't feel like something for me... yet. Because every time I think about TW1 and TW2, the more I want to play it again.
I need some more time to get used to RPG's. The only RPG's I have ever played are Oblivion, DAO, DA2, ME1, ME2 and TW1, DAO being the first of them all.
Well, at least you started with pretty good ones. TW2 is par with the best, imho. But you still cannot drink healing potions during combat. Gladly!

Sadly, you don't have a silver sword when you start. Makes life somewhat harder when you're walking in the outskirts in the middle of the night.
Did get through it, of course.

I think I had to use that first sign attack on the walls there... I forgot its name though. All I remember is that it is some kind of "Sign".

you do realize this is a business, not a charity for underprivilleged PC gamers, right? it would be moronic not to make console ports. And if they make a crapload of money from selling the console port, don't you think that will result in CDProjeckt making more RPGs in the future with bigger budgets?
lots of games I'd love to see PC ports for but probably never will because the market is still too small compared to consoles.
/hasn't owned a console since NES
