In the linked and clearly faked review of David Gaider's opinion of the Witcher 2 on Metacritic, there is talk about 'women that can interact with the player (character) sexually'. Do you seriously think that Gaider would denigrate or demean such an aspect of the game, being able to have romances, especially since he has, on every occasion, when posting here, and in in every interview, been defending them.
As for Avanost's score of 10 for Bioware's Dragon Age, this was only one 10 for the game. Many others
gave it 10, many more others did give it it a 0, though. However, giving a game a 0(zero) because you don't like the combat, or the story, or the re-used areas or the x,y,z fearure in it, seems a bit -ahem- childish to me. The same also goes for the idea that a game, you really, really don't like should get a 0.
[The review score of zero should go to the games like Daikatana - trust me, if you played the demo 10 or 11 years ago, like I did, you'd know why you'd never heard anymore about this game; the demo was unplayable...].
Also, please do not try to start a war between Bioware and CD Project,as Bioware were loaed (licensed) their Aurora engine to CD Project back in 2001/2002, so that CD Project could make Witcher 1. Also, please understand that the dev world probably? is a small world, and that every rpg out there probabbly steals -cough- I mean get inspired by what the other guys do. I clearly remember when the blooom effect started to appear back in 2004-2006; it was ridiculous. And by that I mean, it was overused by so mane games, probably because an art designer/director? looked at it and said 'hey, we need such a thing too...'
As for the combat and other stuff; You can only play as male in Witcher as Witchers (in lore) are only male. And the means of the combat in this game serves the ends of the combat and vice versa. This means that the game is trying its best to make a simulation of how a witcher would fight in real-time e.g. roll, jump over enemies, scroll to one side, using the terrain, back-track.
Great post! *thumbs up* Not sure if a lot of people realise The Witcher games are based off of books.
I love the combat in TW2.. on normal, things kill me if I don't plan properly.. hell even on casual, same thing. The kayran was one of the most fun boss fights I've had in a while. I died stupidly till I figured it out. >.<
EDIT: a similar setup to mine (Phenom II Black Edition 965 (sitting at 3.4ghz) and an overclocked gtx 460.. I can't run uber without my system crying in pain. Hell, my nephews gaming rig. i7 @ 4ghz, gtx 580 gets 16 FPS with ulta and uber sampling.. Wonder how he did it..
