Well so far it looks good except for one minor problem.I have glitch bug on Barricade quest. When it comes to aiming it stops at 75%.So I am stuck in Prologue.I can load the ballista no problem but aiming stops.Clicking like mad and it still doesn't help. The good news is that I really learning the combat system that and I am inventing new swear words.Hopefully someone at gamefaq will post a link to a game with barricade finished so I can try that. After running 8 new chrs thru and un/reinstall I still can't get it to work so if tech support doesnt get back to me by tomorrow..it goes back to Amazon.I really do like what I have seen of the game.I think it will take a bit of time before CD Project iron out the wrinkles.

Really? No bugs for me yet. Everything has been smooth. Some lip syncing issues, the odd graphical glitch. Nothing noticable.

My computer is 6 years old, and could not take the game's epicness. Hubby gets a new computer this weekend, and I get his 4 year old one, which plays the game just fine with a few minor things here and there. Then I too can get my ass happily handed to me while fighting my way to Flotsam and beyond!

Frankly, The Witcher 2 is how sequels should be. They should be more challenging than its predecessor, and not hold your hand *coughDA2cough*, hey should be bigger(not limit you to one quest hub, like Kirkwall), they should have a more interesting narrative and characters, not the other way around(again, DA2). Basically, everything needs to be improved, and not do a complete 180 that DA2 did.

Yeah, how I feel about it too Ali. DA2 had that potential. I saw it. If they hadn't done a 180 and been rushed...

But Witcher sure knew what they were doing, from what I can tell by watching hubby play...*cries*:crying:

Don't weep, rejoice! Take joy in the greaft gift that has been bestowed upon us by the great nation of Poland! *is proud to have polish grand-parents*

I thought my rig would have a lot of trouble handling this game (1GB Radeon 5650, 4 GB RAM i5 Quad Core), but all I had to do is turn my resolution down from 1600x900 to 1024x768 and I can run high detail at virtually 30 fps no problem.

I still have to get used to all the fuzzy menus and selections, that's gonna bug me forever.

There's really a problem with the save function of this game. They don't overwrite but stack up and there's no way to delete them (except going in the documents folder ).

Maybe CDProjekt will fix it if enough people will whine about it.

My native res is 1920x1200 so the game starts to look badly when I go below it ><

Sometimes I wish I bought alower res monitor.

SLI the 460 x2 and ubersampling is no problem. Single 460 (which is what I ordered) the sampling needs to be toned down tbh but the rest from what I have been reading can be on high. I may SLI some point but not this month.

What the.. Anyone know what could cause that? Music, combat and footsteps got sound. Just zero sound on dialog. =(

Was just coming here to post that. :pinched: It's a good review, very level headed, although I tend to expect that from RPS.

TW1 had the same problem, I doubt they will fix it for TW2 if they didn't fix it for TW1. It is annoying, but I just deleted all the uneeded saves after I completed the previous game.

Did get through it, of course.

That's when alchemy worked like a charm for me. Specters Oil for the hounds and Necrophage for the Ghouls and that Boss, plus cinfrid for anything else. That first Dwarven blacksmith kept me selling it over and over, every time I visited him, for lousy 35 orens. I couldn't resist but to stock it way before I got the formula for it! =)

Anyhow Witcher 2 is a true RPG game for me.. The
combat is interesting and not easy.. You actually need some effort and
there's challenge in it. I hope the game sells.. So many pirates onto
this game. Sad fact.

Forget the pirates, mate! There are worse people doing worse things in the planet right now! Enjoy that you have an awesome game and can rest your head in your pillow at night with a clear conscience. We may value that but if that's being a sucker for many, so be it.

Magic Zarim wrote...

The game keeps wow'ing me minute after minute and more often than not I find myself just stopping and looking around, absorbing all the detail. It's nothing short of amazing and I don't remember a game with this amount of detail... anywhere.

The game has one glaring problem though. Although I can't blame the game in particular:

Every minute played is a minute closer towards the end!! I sort of want to stop playing not to blow the experience in a couple of big sessions. I think I managed, still on the prologue after 2 days, although I'm thinking I'm getting close to the end of it though..

Same thing here! I'm somewhere past 10-15 hrs and still haven't left Flotsam for anything... I think I'll keep doing the minigames for a long long time... I predict a 150-200 hrs run for me, minimum! (I can't even run anymore.. I'm carrying like 350lbs .. some 95 over my 255 limit and I don't want to get rid of anything.. Crafted a few items but haven't found a storage yet. Is there any?)

I really wouldn't mind if TW2 is ported for consoles. Console players deserve such awesome game. I just would like that RDR and LA:Noir would be released for the PC as well. =)

Maybe your speakers just got their volume turned off. Happened to me before. Check the volume ( in windows ), not real life.

By the way, weren't there supposed to be three different beginnings ( just curious ) that affect the story? These look like tutorials which you all have to play.

Or is that just available if you import?

Well bugger, Well.  Sorry you are having that problem. Maybe you have a defetive disk? Really, no probs with the balista, unless you count getting your ass handed to you multiple times while figuring out combat. ROFL! Hopefully tech support can help. If not I would send it back to Amazon and order from gog.com (money goes mostly to the devs that way).

G35 headset, 7.1

Just odd that up on untill a certain mission where had to eavesdrop (sneak behind a guard house in flotsam), all sound on dialog/voices was working perfectly, then puff its gone. And there are apparently no fix to it, especially for the crappy g35 headset. =/

Its a tad annoying they didn't bother to fix the save game "issue" from the first Witcher. There's no reason to stack quick saves! I doubt it will ever get resolved in a future patch though.

Hmmm. I always try to save up as much money as possible.

What can I say? My armor won't upgrade itself. ^_^

And I'm greedy. Like those... goblin-dwarf-thingies from Harry Potter. I always forget their names...

Oh, I don't know. It seems like CD Projekt Red cares more for good customer relations than BioWare does at the moment. So we might see that patched.

Not sure how it all works and what the consequences are, but when going through the prison dungeon there are certainly 3 different ways things may go. Save mother before torture, save son(if he's not killed by you), or see the countess after the torture. No idea how these characters affect the game later if at all though.

At least Quicksaves do not stack. They overwrite! It's the autosave which is eating space.

That is one of the good thing about it.I get plenty of practice on using combat skills. With one chr I even leveled. Not quite as fast as the Golems in the Siren cave in BG but still surprised me.
