Would you like one ali? Personally signed?

(don't tell nepp...theirs was a cheap print I sent in the post)

I want one too! I almost got to meet him through a mutual friend, Pat Tallman. But he had to leave quicker than he intended, a gig came up.

Okay to keep this thread from getting locked...any helpful hints for when I do finally get to play?

I'm about 10+ hours into the game, beat the first monster boss in chapter 1 on normal. but to be honest, I feel this game as disappointed as DA2, the combat style is too limited, nothing like the first witcher game. you can not even use group sword style and drink potions while in combat, most time I am just hacking and slashing my way out plus keeping rolling around. Maybe I should try higher difficulty , but I really dont like to die too often :( Triss is very hot though

yeah i'm going to reserve my judgment until i beat the entire game whether it's that same kind of "simplified" or not, or if the beginning chapters are just unbalanced compared to the first witcher

May be it will need more thinking later, but in most fights I encountered in first chapter, I just use Yuen first, then to smaller creature, I click my left mouse button as fast as possible, to the larger monster I click the right button as fast as possible and also roll away if needed. well, it works for most battles execpt the boss fight

I think in more calm times it would be an 8.5/10. But since people were so turned off by DA2, it's now a 9/10 or 9.5/10. It's like seeing the sky again after living under the darkness of the Scandanavian winter. You only vaguely the last spring, and now it's come again, the beauty makes tears hit your eyes.

What's up with the odd placement of the camera when running away and turning around? Your view often gets obscured by something.

No no NO not bestbuy! Here are two different GTX 560's

$200 great for texture loading

You do not want to get a 460 with 768mb. Make sure it's 1gb. There is quite a difference and it's only about $20 more. I'm not sure about the 2gb. I don't think there would be a big difference unless games could utilize it, but don't think most games do.

Here is a link to a website that tests graphics cards regularly and puts out an article on what's the best graphics card for your money each month.

You can get a 6870 which performs a lot better than a 460 for $210 according to that article.

I think the game also is getting a bump of .5-1.5 points because it is PC-only, and people feel short-shrifted from recent multiplat titles on PC (Dead Space 2, Crysis 2, etc. - though I have these on PC and see nothing wrong with them).  It's like the game is showing some special PC TLC - yet somehow still can't recognize the keyboard in the main menu, or have a menu option to invert the mouse.  These will probably be patched in eventually.

LOL'ing with the first page posts of infidels and non-believers! It's good to be right, even if I have the right to be wrong. Legendary indeed. And I'm glad to see that the RPS reviewer thinks the same as me: "The Witcher 2 is going end up being talked about for a very long time to come".

Playing Witcher 2 on insane is probably

But you can save, be near death in the middle of a combat and avoid death by reloading? Ahh good ol' Esc/Save&Quit HC Diablo 2 times!!!! lol

Buy the GoG Premium Digital Version!

But do be patient and work it out somehow. The game is that good and worthy your sweat to get it running. I don't know what problem affects your game but keep checking the official site. They're working non stop to solve all issues and   the game itself and the majority of customers are not having any issue.

Or maybe just maybe it might sound crazy but as a sequel it IMPROVED upon the previous game and added more of what we like and changed what we didn't. I don't know about everyone else. But the combat is challenging and fun much better then before, alchemy is actually important and requires you to make a tough decision such as do i want less health but more damage and regen?, environments are gorgeous and fun to explore.

Can't Witcher 2 be judged by it's own merits?

Yes, but I'd say it's definitely got a lot of hype because it's a PC exclusive too.

It is. People hate it.

@JabbaDaHutt30  Well maybe it is true PC exlusive that went multiplatform especially this year have just released sequels that are like a completely different game. I don't hate Crysis 2 but I do not find myself playing it anymore I still play Crysis 1.

Now that Witcher 2 is out and we knows it great and hopefully patches come ou quickly, I don't care if it goes to consoles. More money for CDProjekt after all.

If Deus Ex manages Human Revolution manages to be as good as the original Deus Ex I might buy 2 copies of that game as well. I LOVE Deus Ex 1. I have high hopes for DXHR especially since they want the PC version to take advantage of our hardware to. DirectX11, 5 monitor support, hotbar etc.

Also keeping and eye on Thief 4.

Yes. It sucks.

Some of the people who are 'loving it' are known to have been extremely... committed to BioWare on here.

If you're looking for cunfirmation bias, there you have it. :pinched:

I didn't hate DA2 I actually enjoyed it but after playing with all 3 classes I can't find myself playing again. I'm still on Act 1 and I have been just working on Alchemy and some traps. I am so lost looking for the Nekkar nests and I don't mind because I'm having fun exploring, fighting and crafting.

KB config suggestions:

I found myself more confortable with some tweaking and TW1 config scheme, thus:

Posted Image

(just note that after my logitech mx 1000 laser mouse died and I got a 10 bucks chinese mouse to replace it, buttons 4 and 5 have been inverted! Big thumbs button was always 4 but in China it appears to be 5. The same inversion for the small Thumbs button.

Accept/Dodge and Spacebar are also used in dialogues and mini games.

i know there's one near the flotsam, they're just kind of out in the open, you can tell by seeing a dirty area with bones

anyways i think i'm going to have to concede and go with easy on this playthrough... just too damn difficult for me and i'm somebody who enjoyed demon's souls
