Can't Witcher 2 be judged by it's own merits?

Can't DA2?

It is. People hate it.
*Snip*

It hardly ever is.

Some hate it, some love it. Same as any other game.

And looking at the TW2 boards among others, not everyone is as over the top excited with TWII (Broken Launch, promised patch not arriving, DLC not downloading, Lag, bugs, performance issues, crashing servers, roll&slash combat system etc.) as the DAII bashers who are using TWII to bash DAII/Bioware further.

Now I love TWII to bits. But this constant "My dolly (TW2) is prettier than your dolly (DAII)!" is just juvenile and unnecessary.

It most certainly does. Enough with the hyperbole already! For BOTH games!

Game still isn't working, nothing from CDP. Thinking of just returning it to pay off the laptop rental.

My dolly brings all the boys to the yard... Excuse me, I have to go shoot myself now for saying that.

How so? If the (gaming) laptop is my only option at the moment and can run it on medium, I thought it would work. But the game doesn't even allow me to register.

Laptop rental? I thought you had a PC, Dave. Its bound to work eventually as they continue to patch. Do you have a physical copy that isn't working or what?

I've gone with GoG, and had no problems installing the game.

Just laptops are.. underpowered unless you spend some serious coin on a good one. Last message was they were having problems, and it should of been up today or tomorrow. Also moving files to new servers as well to handle the extra load.

Water cooling spilled, motherboard is fried and the warranty doesn't cover it. No money to cover everything, saving it all up for college at the moment.

Physical copy, yeah. Installs fine until it asks for my activation code, it refuses to accept it. I've contacted both CDP and Securom, they've been sending me on a goose chase to "fix" it.

Reading the community, I'm not the only one who suffers from this problem and it's mostly people with physical copies suffering from it. Though Steam also seems to suffer the same problem.

Hopefully they get it fixed quick. I know how frustrating it is to shell out the cash and not being able to play what you just bought. I anticipated trouble when they announced physical copies would have DRM, so I spent extra cash on the GoG version.

First of all, apologies to anyone experiencing trouble getting the game to work. I'm aware it's full of bugs and what not.

All i'm gonna say is be patient, when you do get it fixed, you will be rewarded with an excellent game.

The only bug i ran into was the DLC repeatedly downloading, otherwise it installed fine, and it runs very smooth on High settings for me. (Intel 4-core 3.0, 8gbram, gtx295)

I've just made it to act 2. I won't give any spoilers, but this is one of the best games i've ever played, let alone RPG. The combat definetly took some getting used to, but after you learn the ins and outs, it's very responsive, tactical, and very entertaining. The story, at least up to this point, has been well excecuted, and as anyone can tell from screenshots they saw, the graphics are beyond beautiful.

There's a few qualms though, it certainly isn't perfect. The inventory can be a strain to sort through at times, and the quests and item associated with quests are sometimes not entirely accurate in there description.

I hope those who still can't play get it fixed soon. The launch could've certainly gone smoother, and some of these bugs in my eyes should clearly have been tested well prior to launch.

For the bits that are working though, it's been awesome. Haven't enjoyed a game this much since the first ME2 playthrough.

Just my opinion of course...

That sucks Dave. I've installed it on two different computers fine, no issues at all, and I have the physical copy as well.

What happens if you sell your formulas? Can you sell them? It would be nice to have them gone whenever I browse the ALL tab in my inventory.

No problems here - installed and runs beautifully on ultra and I'm still trying to catch my breath from some of the scenes in the game, and the gameplay is fantastic so far.

This game is more challenging than I thought (playing on Hard), it actually forces me to use grenades, and I love it! I never used them in TW1.

It's a brilliant game thus far and I am truly enjoying it.

Well, this is the armor I crafted from the Kayran, nice stormy rainy day in the dwarf town.
