Indeed it is. Witcher 2 renders Dragon Age 2 utterly irrelevent. There's no longer a reason to ever even mention it.

This. So much.

So not what I meant at all. Do NOT twist my words around to fit your anti-DAII agenda. And if DAII is so utterly "irrelevent" (Sic!), why this constant need to bash it in favor of the glorification of another game?

How very classy indeed. :innocent:

Don't care. This is the Witcher 2 thread. Take your Dragon Age 2 love back to your dedicated DA2 forum.

Point....missing it.

Yes, this IS The Witcher 2 thread. Not the "Let's hate on DAII some more thread". :pinched:

I'm not hating on DA2. I'm trying to discuss Witcher 2 in the forum where said discussion is allowed. Now stop trolling, you have whole forums dedicated to talking about the game you want to talk about.

Because I want BioWare to learn from CDP Red that rushing a game out, and expecting peopel NOT to bash it, is not the way things work. Not to mention all DLC will be free of charge.Posted Image

CDP Red is like a masseuse, they understand that you've paid for their service, and that you want top service. BioWare however..."Suck it up, princess!" (i'm so sorry, Mr. Gaider).

You're quoting him completely out of effin' context. And you know that. (And I know that, because I know what the quote was in reference to. And it wasn't dissatisfaction with DAII)

Forget it. I'm done. Back to playing either TW2 or Fable III.

Hah! I don't need a flame shield. My skin has been thickened in the fires of internet flamewars since the bbs days. Thanks for the concern though.  ^_^

Now who activated "Troll Trouble" for this thread..!?

P.S. Overclock specs: Running at 1.45v, prime temps make it hit around 85ish celcius all cores loaded. However, I never run it full load though I used to "fold" for a couple of months 24/7 and kept up just fine. However, I noticed degradation after a year, needing to up voltage to maintain 4.33. At that point I just dial'ed back to 4.1 with lowerd volts. So far no problems. I would not advice you to just dial in my settings without thoroughly knowing what you're doing ;)

So let's TALK about The Witcher 2 rather than DAII, hmmmmmmm?

Trolling....cute.

Anyway, TW2....anyone know of a good way of getting more potion recipes in Act II? I need one for a quest but the apothecary at Henselt's camp doesn't have it. :crying:

Wasn't me, I haven't figured out how to activate anything yet. All I get in my downloader are English VO and subtitles...for my english version of the game.

IMO it's definitely worth it. I'm playing it on a dated Lappy (Acer Aspire 8935G with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 card and 4GB RAM) and the Loading times are minimal. (So a better machine may even have none whatsoever) Haven't run into any major bugs yet (I'm currently in Act II)

It is IMO more than a worthy successor to TW1. Best sequel I've played in the last 10 years. (And that includes ME2)

For me personally loading times are a little long, but so was Witcher 1. Like the smaller areas are integrated into the game, it's usually just Geralt openng a door while it lads in the background, so that's fine. The one that require a loading screen take a little time though. Sometime it doesn't, sometimes it does. Usually doesn't. Much better than Witcher 1 overall. Only bug I encountered was my mouse wouldn't properly highlight options and actions in dialog after I alt tabbed, but quitting back to the main menu fixes that. Nothing else I've notced, maybe a couple of lol moments with some pathfinding, but no noticeable bug bugs.

Also a couple of times where I'd have to wait a few seconds for textures to pop-up in full detail. But nothing that makes a big difference.

Then again, I am playing on max settings outside of that ubersampling mode...

I think they're still having Server/Activation probs. Day1 Patch (400MB one) isn't out yet either, as far as I can tell. I so WANT that patch, nyargh!:P

IMO it's worth every penny. I personally have not experienced any bugs or crashes, though if I did experience bugs they must have been minor and I didn't recognize them for what they were. Load times, like any PC game, are going to be dependent on your hardware. My PC is relatively weak by today's standards. Core 2 Duo processor @ 3 GHz, 4GB RAM, nvidia 8800GTS (512MB revision) and load times are no better or worse than any other game I've played. I have to play with most details set on low, but even with that the game still looks absolutely gorgeous.

Edit: I do actually get lots of bad texture pop. I've yet to determine if that's due to bad game setting configuration on my end, or just the game engine itself. TBH the video setting options via menu are not as flexible as I think they could and should be...but editing via .ini files is readily available and simple.

If you're an RPG fan, the Witcher games shouldn't be missing from your collection. As for the game itself, if you have recent hardware, the game will litterally blow you away in many many aspects. Combat is best described "Batman Asylum" style. That is, doable when you get past the initial learning curve. It becomes highly satisfactionary when you get a "real" hang of it - it is highly skill based.

From your comment it's obvious you're going by TW1. Loadtimes are nonexistent really, bugs.. in-game bugs aren't noteworthy, no showstoppers. Most "bugs" are with the authentication and registration system while they're fixing/upgrading their server farm. If you don't care for a physical package, I would recommend to get it from http://www.gog.com because it is DRM free and has the least hassle getting it going. Steam's is DRM free as well though it took them a little longer to get distribution up and running properly. Note that both versions already come with the Day 0 patch which is patched automatically.

No bugs for me yet (Edit: besides some texture pop, but it's minor) - some people have driver/registration/launcher problems though. Some fixes are available - see the neogaf thread here: http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=430456

On my crappy Laptop HDD, load times - besides the initial launch of the game or between chapters - are about 2-3 seconds. Probably 1-2 seconds on a good desktop HDD or none at all if you using a Raptor/SSD.

I love the game so far

I get the Texture Pops too but my Lappy is dated (Almost 2 years old, posted specs above) So I do believe it's not a bug but lag due to low system specs. Hasn't marred my enjoyment much, this game is a bloody keeper. Glad to agree with ya there, btw. :)

I haven't read them because I fear spoilers, thanks for your answer it helped a lot.

@Persephone, mrcrusty, magic zarim, marshalleck, scepticmatt

Thanks! I guess that settles it, my main concern were bugs and technical aspects since the first one really had some major issues in that regard(still loved it though).
I guess I have to go shopping...

Let's not get carried away, we know next to nothing about ME3 right now.

Though i will say that TW 2 is probably the best Action RPG I've had the good fortune to play. I'm a little surprised at how they keep a linear narrative, yet still manage to give you choice and consequence at almost every opportunity.

I'm also surprised at how attached I am to Geralt this time around. Feels much more like "my Geralt" compared to Witcher 1.
