I already said upthread that I hated it. It's awkward and the controls seem unresponsive. Nothing is explained. The UI is ugly and unintuitive. Geralt dies every time someone looks at him sideways.marshalleck wrote...

Is anyone else hating the combat at the beginning of the game?
I was a bit surprised/overwhelmed at the challenge of even Normal difficulty setting, but my feeling toward it is changing quickly as I get the hang of it. Standard advice applied in my case...get used to dodging a lot, and using Quen often. The learning curve is steep and it doesn't hold your hand. I resorted to reading through all the tutorial entries in my journal, because the tooltips are way too brief in both description and duration on the screen to be useful. "When all else fails, read the manual."
Also, it helps to make sure you're using the appropriate sword. I still sometimes forget, and wonder why I'm barely doing damage to my target. <_<
Never thought I'd be nostalgic for TW1 combat.
Beating the kayran on EASY took me hours. I was THIS close to pressing "Uninstall". But I finally managed it. Still, some of those fights are way too hard IMO. All it takes is to be surrounded by a few drowners:crying:. I DO miss the Group Style from TW1.

Any news on the missing two patches? (Retail & GOG version still are at 1.0.641 while the Russian & Steam version are at 1.0.650. (One of those patches being the touted Release Day patch taking care of glitches & balance bugs....) I have the Retail version and I want my patch.Yes, I am THAT addicted.

It's excellent. Neither DAO nor DAII got me THIS fired up, I have to admit. (DAO still has Loghain and DAII still has my most personal gaming experience though, heh!) It's, IMO, what a sequel should be. And while I personally love DAII, it lacked this je ne sais quoi touch of GENIUS that TW2 has IMHO. (I heard some grumblings about Act III, but I haven't gotten there yet)

Have not found anyway to disable QTE's, they are part of the game anyway. So how would that work?. xD

I personally like the new combat system much better than TW1's "click for victory!" This one actually manages to be real-time CQC combat with some strategy involved. More developers should make their gmaes bigger, better and more challenging. Beating the Kayran left me so satisified after finding . I atually had to try different signs. Until I finally found that Quen, and rolling until I an climb to the top of the ledge above the monster's head. DA2 was the exact opposite. It holds your hand throughout the game.

QTE are basically for fist fighting minigames. The Prologue uses it smartly. Ca't say about the rest of the game but it is indeed fun and breaks the tension of the very concentration demanding combat. Just focus your view in one point of the screen and the AWSD QTE input flows naturally. Great reflex is not even required.

Let me give you a hint. TW2 use action game combat style, as in you better learn to avoid stuff if you want to live and not enter combat head on.

There is something really REWARDING in crafting such kickass armor after such an epic fight. Really feeling like I EARNED it, not just getting it because I have the cash.

Just finished the game on hard. Absolutely master piece! RPG's GOTY for sure.
Interesing that "fixes" is your verb of choice, in that you must believe the behavior of the game in regards to quicksaves is broken. It worked the same way in the first game, and was never changed despite the continuous improvements made by CDP including going so far as to redo the animations and alternate localization translations and voiceovers, of which English was one. I am not saying your opinion is wrong or you're a bad person for not appreciating your Windows user directory filling up with quicksaves, but I think you may be waiting a long time for CDP to "fix" this, as they probably believe it's working as intended.Alistairlover94 wrote...

Oh gawd yes! I'm just waiting for CDP Red to release a patch that fixes the quick-save stacking instead of overwrititng.

This is the same guy who wrote the PC Gamer review?

It feels like there should be another chapter, especially since the previous one ends with a character arranging you to meet up later on in a specific town.
And for the record, I'd have been mid-80s on DA2. The Witcher 2 is much better.

It is. It's much better. There are specific reasons why it didn't break 90, but none of them stop it being an excellent game - albeit one with some nasty issues.
