Ok I'm getting my rear kicked at the moment by one of the two bug queens you kill in a Flotsam contract. Maybe I'm to low of a level for this. I destroyed the pods to lure her in, set up 3 fire traps, 6-7 regular traps, used potions(damage and health regen) and arachnid oil on my sword before the battle and still getting a smack down, level 7 atm. So to low level or is there some strategy I'm missing?
Is arachnid oil poison? The bugs are either immune or highly resistant to poison (according to a book about them you can purchase from a merchant). Use brown oil on your blade; bleeds are effective against them.
Just in case anyone else reading this is stuck.

Agreed. The Ysgith rune is a good one to add to your sword if you have a slot on it. My robust cutlass sword has +39 to bleeding on it. Plus I took the sword path, which adds a bunch of +3's too.

If they release a demo, I'll try it out and see if I enjoy it but I think Dark Souls will be RPG of the year for me because the enemies look great, it's going to be challenging, there's many classes to make and form and you just don't know what's going to be around the corner.
Funny you should say that because the combat in Witcher 2 is very similar to that of Demon's Souls.
They may have taken inspiration from it but reviewers say it plays more like Assassin's Creed and it even looks like it.
I think only one person agrees with that:

Demon's Souls is much harder. Button mash in AC2 and you'll get killed too. Demon's Souls doesn't waste time on cinematic deaths. That's why I don't believe they are alike. I'm not bashing The Witcher 2. I'm just saying.

Lol glad to see so many bioware fans who HATE witcher2 before even playing it now switched sides lol
It's funny how to all of the Bioware fans still say it's a bad game...only issues for me are no place to stash stuff and I never liked how Witcher 1 saves games and it's the same this time around.
I don't get why it's so hard to make the game rewrite previous autosaves, quick saves and manual saves.

I didn't use any of that. Just Yrden. It dominates the Queens. Hit them from the flank or behind once they are paralyzed (sometimes they resist it so be careful). Playing on hard.

Yrden is incredible if your not using well then use it! If you can try to keep up Quen just incase it saved me a lot of times already.
Also Aard helps a lot on the Queens. It doesn't stun them but it gives you time to setup a Yrden on the ground and then you can do some heavy attacks and rinse and repeat.
As for the Troll Trouble dlc you can start the quest right outside of Flotsam in the little town of Liboden. I forget the npc's name but it's an old guy with a shirt (almost everyone is shirtless) who tells you about the troll.

Does anyone know how to start Troll Trouble ingame? Got it installed but cant find the frigging quest giver or whatever...I'm in flotsam by the way...
In Folstan in the hangman square go to the entrence door to the Bar, to the right of the door there is a quest board, you can interact with it and take some side quest (troll one to)

- ability to sort formulas/plans by type ->name
- ability to overwrite mutagen slots
- ability to see if we already have a plan or formula on us when in a shop. Perhaps LEARN formulas instead of requiring us to hold on to them. Also show books if they're read or not so we don't rebuy them
- ability to respec
- HARDWARE MOUSE pretty please?
- some sort of way like TW1 had with displaying all interactable objects (like a name over the head) instead of having to spam your medalion.
- Improvement on geralt's movement? He's sluggish (yes I know he's old, not the point)
- Storage space? Maybe something that carries over between chapters?
- Proper 16:10 support without the bars?
- increasing buff lengths of PoP, potions, oils to something more reasonable. It makes sense as well with the amount of ingredient fodder you obtain in this game to use potions a lot.
- Fix geralt's english voice actor volume. The other languages don't have this problem but Geralt himself in the english is pretty quiet in comparison to everyone else's and it's hard to hear.
- ability to delete or overwrite saves in game
- add a junk category to the inventory so it's easier to sell off the junk items. Perhaps consider them weightless?
- a fixed minimap with a north option, or at least a toggle for this option.
- look into silent CTDs related to steam's Shift+tab overlay
- look into the mouse cursor showing up as a + in game being followed by the software pointer (probably fixed by having a hardware pointer)
- caps lock seems to reset constantly for some reason?
- a quick load button? Seriously why isn't there one?
- Ability to compare a weapon or piece of armor to one that's currently equipped.
- make the Lock On focus on the enemy locked on (for examples of this, look at any recent 3D zelda game)
- if you're losing at arm wrestling, increase the size of the bar to compensate. Otherwise you can lose at the last second if you're not being careful.
- I seem to have issues with fistfighting in terms of the QTE buttons disappear too fast unless difficult QTE's are ON. (that doesn't seem right)
- auto run/walk? (would help if you're encumbered)
- a better way to track who you've beaten in the minigames
- some items glow so you can interact with them, but you can't actually interact with them when you try. (see: books in prologue section in a house on the shelves)
- Display more information in the poker game. Who has what hands? TW1 showed this, now it's like you expect us to remember what hands are better than the others and WHY they won.
- Improve the tutorial a bit, it doesn't stay up very long and isn't as informative as I'd like.
- Slow down geralt's stop and run distance. Have this progression be slower. Stop->walk->Run instead of Stop->run. What happens is you stop and want to go up to something close and you run right past it. Sure you can walk up to it, but you could just slow down this initial "jump" instead.
- ability to switch between menus while in one instead of having to exit out and jump into a new menu. TW1 had this, I don't see this being too hard.
- Multi use ingredients or quest item ingredients should not defaulted to be used in potions. Oh god please stop this.
- remove the confirmation window on potion/crafting. Instead allow the sound to be the confirmation and allow it to overlay like it was in TW1. Now it cuts out if you make potions or craft too fast.
- once you've found a place of power (PoP), have it marked on your map.
- have applying sword buffs show an actual color overlay on your weapon. This was cool from TW1.
- The Spell/Bomb select panel should not require us to click on it to select something: just hover the mouse over and then release Ctrl. Alternatively allow us to mousewheel through this.
- on looting an item, the cursor should focus on the LOOT ALL button. Yes you can press space, but when you're pressing LMB to loot an item why not just press LMB a second time instead of having to press space?
- ability to name saves perhaps?
- combat log should remain on the screen longer.
- hotkeys to switch between spells or bomb slots?

I only used igni with dragon's dream, but then opted to use grapeshots instead. Faster and I think it deals more damage.
EDIT: oh and how do you use the mutagens exactly?
I tried goign on the character screen after meditation, but I didn't get the option.

Secondly, you cant actually switched views between Inventory, Journal, Map, Skilltree. So in either screen you have to ESC from the screen before you can switch to another. I find this a HASSLE. When reading the quest journal, i would like to directly go to the MAP.

They haven't released a demo yet. No demo, no buy. My concerns must be addressed, I must see if The Witcher 2 is more enjoyable than the first before I buy.

That's not my point, I don't care if you play the game or not. I'm trying to point out how ridiculous it is to tell someone who has played the game, what the game plays like when you yourself have not played it.Elton John is dead wrote...
