Still it has real good RP elements.

You can turn of tht QTE's from the ingame menu press ESC and go to gameplay.

You still will have them.Such as the ballistaes and such.I think they cuts down on the difficulty level.

The setting is called "difficult QTEs." Disabling it presumably makes them simpler. :P

I'm on the verge of killing myself right now. First of all, I didn't know I had to keep the formulas and I'm almost without potions to do, even swallows. Then I discovered it after I closed the potions shopping, so I've got no way of get them back now and I suppose I have to keep something for the boss. I have a few of them and I can't get passed the cavern with 1000 nekkers which I can't kill them myself because they kill me with a few hits. God ****in' dammit.

Reload an earlier save or* suffer the consequences! And it's not hard to acquire formulas, ingredients and brew the potions again. Reduce diff it it seems impossible. First playthrough, must learn for next runs! hehe

I have one major complaint about this otherwise awesome game and it concerns the inventory.

When I see a list I want to be able to sort by column. And how do you easily find junk category items? I have to scroll through the entire "All" category to find the junk items! Gah.

I'm there with you. Better inventory management for junk, better savegame management and MOAR power to carry MOAR loot! It's all I ask! hehe

Alright so I've barely been able to play for any prolonged period of time over the past couple days, but I've been reading from people who have finished and it seems almost unanimous that Chapter 3/epilogue is seriously a super huge, massive letdown that really, really stinks up what is an otherwise fantastic game. This is disappointing as I thought TW1 had a nice ending while still teasing at more.

Guess I'll find out eventually....

Not to me. The ending I got was utterly mesmerizing, offering closure and making me hunger for more all at the same time.<3

I'm sipping this game slowly like a good wine, if in a week my ending doesnt satisfy, I might have to ask what decisions you made. But surely I'll be playing this a few times anyway.

Same here and boy, does it taste good!!!!

So.....I finished Act III just now.

I am UTTERLY blown away. I detest hyperbole....but this is the VERY best RPG I have EVER played. And the Replay value (With imports to add sweetness) is GIGANTIC. Tomorrow I'll import my Shani/Pro non human save and start again. I am sure I missed a lot as well. Nothing like ten more playthroughs to gather all the details....  If anyone were to ask me about the perfect RPG...I'd not name the BG Series, not the M&M Series, not Morrowind, not DAII .....but TW2.

Sorry about the fangirling. I just had to share.:wub::wub:

Wow, that good huh?

Thanks for sharing though. I'd much rather trust the opinion of a player who's gone through it rather than a reviewer.

Yep, that good. The DA series seems just so...insignificant atm. (I still adore it, mind you...but...) As far as unimportant me is concerned, TW2 not only won me over (I was skeptical at first) but completely captured my RPG soul like no other game before has. My Lady Hawke's story still touched me on a more personal level...but TW2's storytelling, the choices, the stunning level design and art, the RPG elements.......CDPR delivered and then some. Cannot wait for DLC, espansions and TW3. (Take your time though, CDPR, don't get lost in the shuffle now!)

Oh Perse! I am so jealous! My computer won't play it! I have to wait and watch on hubby's PC. And hopefully this weekend he gets his new PC and I get his old one so I can play!

Tell, tell me, tell me (when you aren't playing) let me live through you! I want to play so badly!  You really love it? What's your favorit part so far? Favorite Act?

This game could redefine action RPGs in the same way Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape Torment set high water marks for CRPGs that were never surpassed. It's amazing.

And the soundtrack! My god. To think it was done by two guys in a studio, with a few vocalists and guest musicians. Unbelievable.

Both TW and TW2 IMO have some of the best overall OST's in video game history.  They're so extremely unique, and fitting to the game.  I think that it must be the European influence.

Just goes to show that you don't need an orchestra and Hans Zimmer to make a game soundtrack work (as some companies seem to think...)

Definitely. And I am a firm believer that sometimes, less is more. So, so much more. I'm absolutely loving the track "Dwarven Stone Upon Dwarven Stone." I don't think I've heard it in game yet, and I don't want to be spoiled, but it just teases so many images in my imagination...I wonder if the actual presentation in-game will live up to my expectations. There's just something subtly sublime in its unpretentious candor. And as you said, it's not some hundred thousand dollar production--just some heartfelt classical guitar musicianship.

When I was fighting the Act 1 monster boss and you have to take cover between *insert body part* cutting, I've looked at the detail of Geralt's armor a bit too long while I was standing in a corner, zooming in to him.

"What an awesome work of art!"

*get's smashed to pulp*

"Goddammit!"

That's high praise indeed, i hope i can say the same when i finish my playthrough.

I missed a few quests in the prologue so i am taking my time now.

How long did the game take you?

I don't even need to get past Act 1 to say it's the best RPG I've ever played because I throughoutly trust the devs' love for game to keep the same high standards for the whole game. I don't love DA series any less, it still has my devotion and many replays in the future but first... Insane waits and to get there... must learn... must devour this game like the delicious piece it is!

I'm curious too. How long? Did you go completionist or skipped a few pieces like looting every house everywhere? hehe =)

I just had some people sitting around a fire around flotsam, and an elder told the story of what I did in W1 for about 2 minutes. Later some people recognized me as dice-champion in W1. Very nice :D

... but damn, I need a faster PC, I want to run it higher than 960x600 (and that is after overclock) :(
Anyway, it's very late here, so gn8 everyone!

I hear you :)  They took the time on the game and it shows.  Just the environments alone, the TREES fit each locale.  the trees!  They didn't rush it ( or it certainly does not seem that way ) and it really really shows.  Every detail seems intentional, not slapped on.  Sure, I have moments of wincing ( some of the facial animation just SUCKS to be frank) but in general....

I will give an example. That stupid quest in the abandoned hospital with the wraiths and the two morons who ran it....  that hospital was CREEPY.  It just was.  The quest wasn't overdone. There was a limited amount of *frustratingly difficult* wraiths who you had to use planning and knowledge of your signs to beat.  Then, you are left with a decision.   I made the decision with no difficulty, despite the story behind it, because in this incarnation anyway, it was what Geralt simply *would* do.  Such a simple, small quest.  Not a huge location either but.... *grrrr*.  It is just an amazing, amazing game. I had *hoped* I would love it, but I had no idea how much just playing the game would just *drop* me into another world.  It is lush, it is detailed.  Even when certain things fail me, it doesn't fail the game.  They are details in a fantastic, quality game.  Time is money as they say - and there was certainly a lot of time and energy spent in *details* in this game.  It shows!    I downloaded (but didn't install) the free DLC also... which is just another win for that company. I would have paid way more than the $45 I spent for the game too.

And I love a lot of things, but usually not enough to pay MORE than I already have.

Easy 9.5/10 for me.  Darn facial animation and some voice acting reduces it minimally for me.  I give them a slight pass for english not being the only language ( or even first one )  I give them those points back for making it so easy to switch language/subtitles language though.

hehe some of it is questionable. I wonder if it is a translation issue though.  I say that because there are times where the vocabulary is simply superb and far beyond what most gaming studios consider passable for their market.

@shantisands:

Great atmospheric quest, amazing job with the lighting, music, level design, everything. It required signs to complete and it allowed you to roleplay at the end. Choices, consequences, and the use of signs and skills in dialog. The attention to detail for that small side quest was great. I especially liked how the <spoilers> were suffering in front of your eyes and how there were <spoilers> you could examine. Just adds a lot of depth.

I cringed more at the dialogue in DA2/ME2 in the first ten hours of play than I have with TW2. Not so much in Bioware's older games. There are a few awkward moments, but I chalk it up to the natural limitations of translation. I wish I could understand Polish. Overall I would say the dialogue and voice acting is certainly befitting a AAA game.
