I cringed more at the dialogue in DA2/ME2 in the first ten hours of play than I have with TW2. Not so much in Bioware's older games. There are a few awkward moments, but I chalk it up to the natural limitations of translation. I wish I could understand Polish.LiquidGrape wrote...
Watching a livestream. Oh my. Sure, the environments are fairly nice-looking...but the dialogue. My god the dialogue. It's like a collection of fortune cookies.

I agree -- well, not so much ME2 but definitely DA2.

I won't claim either is perfectly written but...compared to this...
I don't know. It just smells bad erotic fan fiction.
Whatever else one might say of DA2, it never reduced itself to simple exploitation.

Yeah, I did too in DA2, though hubby's game is new yet. I haven't noticed any strange dialogue so far, not really.

Uh, whatever. Sure, if you can forget the weird Disney porn Bioware has been doing since FOX News grilled them. I mean at least CDPR have direction and know what they want a sex scene to be. Not to mention they tastefully lightened up the steamy bit with some humor from the dwarf towards the end.LiquidGrape wrote...

DAMMIT! I am soooo green with envy of you all you sods! I love you all, but I hate you too!!! *goes back to watching hubby play* I will say, it is so damn beautiful and interesting you can watch someone play it for hours too!
I know what you mean, I always know that I'm playing a quality game when my wife can't stop watching me play it. She's been drooling over TW2 even more than she did Portal 2, and she absolutely loved that game.

I mean, if it wasn't up against LA Noir, maybe it wouldn't look so bad.

And the 1st free DLC is so good. The decisions, the consequences, the final feeling of justice has been done!
Persie, what level was Geralt at your ending? =)

I was planning on buying the game, but that video has taken me aback. Does anyone have any clips that show better dialog, both in terms of rhetoric as well as voice acting? Because both were absolutely terrible and uncouth.

The Witcher 2 - The King is Dead! (Long live the New King of cRPG's!)

Try this one?
PS.: Every detail in this game is amazing. Those ragged guards of Lobiden really watch the road and only when they see that's Geralt approaching they will put their arms down! Just one small example.

Yeah, never. I am watching my hubby's playthrough and I haven't seen anything that doesn't fit with a medieval setting, nor that is truly exploitive. Any sex has been natural and in the right time and place. How about you slim?

That's only memorable if you've played the first one and the prologue of the second.

Yeah, it's robbed of a lot of impact when viewed in isolation on youtube.

Which card? You could collect a bunch of them in the original, right?
I keed, I keed! That was a cheap shot.
But really, it's an honest assessment. If you take issue with my impressions, that's fine, because that's your prerogative. I hold my point of view as personal opinion and personal opinion only.
I simply feel that if it looks like duck and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck. This particular duck is looking a bit worse for wear.
The overall delivery of writing and voice performance in this game is bordering on pastiche, and I don't think it is deliberate.

Exploitation? I bet the love scenes in the books the game is based are written for adults, not for teenagers!

Fancy that, treating players like adults...who'da thunk it. I love DA, but sometimes I feel like the M for Mature really isn't. Some parts seem written by giggling school girls for giggling school girls. TW2 M for Mature has been just that. It hasn't been porn at all.

Oh, I adore the music in this game as well.
I was playing with the video settings, Ultra Spec w/ ubar sampling on, I get an average of 16 FPS. With it off, I get an average of 35-45 FPS.
Geforce GTX 460 Overclocked to 825mhz core, 2.2ghz memory, AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 965 CPU @ 3.4ghz(summer time, so high overclock off till i get better cooling) 4GB OCZ Platinum DDR3 @ 1600mhz

nepp: what res?
My teensy old former government office monitor only supports 1280x1024 and I pretty much get 50-60 FPS average on that res, Ultra w/o ubersampling on my HD 6850 (950mhz core / 1150mhz mem - no voltage increase) & Phenom II x4 955 @ 3.8 Ghz.

I've made a bunch of comparison screenshots with Ubersampling on/off, and the only difference I've found is the background during cutscenes with Cinemathic Depth of Field on.
So it's only function is to screw up your framerate.

Running at 1680x1050. In some situations I drop to around 28FPS but chugging at a steady 40ish, sometimes higher FPS. High spec gets me around 60-80ish FPS
