Well, my issue with the sexual content in W2 isn't that it is explicit. In fact, think interactive media in general should embrace sexual themes more widely, seeing as it is such a natural element in storytelling. This dilly-dallying around the issue makes us all appear more infantile than we really are, and it's a disservice we shouldn't stand for!
What I do not think one should embrace, however, is pandering.
I realise this is an interpretation which is up for grabs, but I cannot see the erotic cutscenes of W2 as anything but moist appeasement.
They were wise enough to remove the whole card collection business, however. I think that should be noted, and the developers should be commended for it. That mechanic was simply put the most laughable display in male self-gratification I've ever seen in a roleplaying game.
What, that every female in DA2 had DD breasts wasn't laughable? The DA2 forums are ^^^ that way. Let's not get this thread locked because a few are upset that TW2 is getting heaps of deserved praise.
Yes, stifling discussion is a much more constructive thing to do.
Seriously, what did you hope to achieve with that post?
I found points about W2 which I find worthy of criticism, and suddenly I'm "upset that TW2 us getting heaps of deserved praise"?
I think you are being needlessly over-protective.
But since you responded, I feel obliged to reply.
You are being reductive when you claim that every female in DA2 allegedly had "DD breasts".
Isabela is well-endowed, sure, as are a select few other characters. Overall, however, its portrayal of different anatomy was quite accomplished. Not to mention that no one character is ever rendered nothing but eye candy; forsaking personal integrity for the benefit of the player.
Isabela owns her sexuality. I cannot say the same for Triss.
Regardless, even if you wholly disagree with me on the above, can you honestly claim that the cards collected in the original Witcher weren't crude and fueled by a flippant kind of sexism?
