Triss redesign and new VO: I loved her VO in TW1. Mature, sexy voice not just a girly/cutesy voice. Same as the design. In TW1 she looked around 30, a mature, gorgeous woman. In TW2 she looks much younger & more cutesy. Her character also struck me as less....strong and independent as in TW1. Minor quibbles? What do you guys think?
No Shani or other romance besides Triss. (Romps don't count) Maybe I missed them, did I? (Only yes or no, please, no spoilers!)
Zoltan's new voice over took some getting used to.
Final boss in my ending was easier than easy. Esp. compared to the kayran.

Exploitation? I bet the love scenes in the books the game is based are written for adults, not for teenagers!
And the 1st free DLC is so good. The decisions, the consequences, the final feeling of justice has been done!
Persie, what level was Geralt at your ending? =)
Level 31. And something I have to mention...the Finishing Moves you get (CUTSCENES every time!) if you fill up the Swordsmanship talent tree are badass, brilliant and awesome.
Definitely. The first time I performed a group finisher, my jaw dropped.

There are story flaws. The game doesn't do as good a job as introducing its character. At least with DA:O we learn enough about the characters through play. TW2 misses this a lot.
You know there are character entries right? That, and the developers probably assume that most people played the first game..Companions, things people praise Bioware on, are almost non-existant. You are either solo or with one non-controlable member. So, people wanting to learn about other characters and/or want the customizable tactics are going to be very disappointed. This game is more like the Deus Ex games.
Triss Merigold, Vernon Roche, Dandelion etc are technically companions. Although, I don't see the lack of playable NPCs as a weakness.
The Witcher 2 isn't party based after all, and makes no claims to be.It's way too actiony--I dislike the QTE, since I'm not used to them and it's arbitrary. Strategy exists but it's sort of how to handle combo movies. This feels like Assassin's Creed with more RPG elements.
Subjective. The game fails in teaching people how to play it. All games should strive to teach their mechanics through play. It took me a little time during the prologue to realize I had all my signs! And sometimes it's hard to figure out the goals, especially during QTEs.
Yeah, I agree that the game could have made use of an easier tutorial. I must have died in the prologue about 50 times LOL!
But thats what I love about the game as well....it's challenging!A few reviews have told me the game ends as apbrubtly as DA2 did, and just makes it more or less a cliffhanger.
CDPR says there's going to be expansion packs, which are much better than DLC, so the tale looks like it will be continued......naturally.There seems to be the same recycling of faces in this game as there was in TW1, sadly.
Recycling is unavoidable in such a large game. Developers recycle to save space on the disk, and for memory considerations as well..
As such, the Witcher 2 does a fantastic job of minimizing recycling where it would be most noticable, ie the environments......unlike DA2
For ordinary NPCs, few people notice (or care) that Joey the prison guard looks the same as Morris the butcher. There's also a lot of hype about "free DLC", but the DLC is still small and mostly dressing. The Troll is a lot like the stone prisoner. Plus, if people don't think that CDPR is "playing the marketing game", you are mistaken. They are just like EA--the problem is they are telling people what they want to hear and taking advantage of the disillusionment other players feel about the large game companies.
CDPR has claimed that all DLC will be free, and I believe them. They know that most PC gamers hate DLC, and have instead decided to go the traditional expansion pack route.
When was the last time Bioware made an expansion pack?
Excellent post Carfax...I wholeheartedly agree...also wanted to say that for myself I see this game as less for the casual gamer and more for the harcore rpg fan...rare these days to see a company take that direction. Just my opinion.

lmao! Well you win man. As for the fixed protaginist I swear it's as if people never even heard of Planescape Torment one of the best rpgs with a fix protaginist.
And Witcher has always been an action rpg which DA2 has tried to become.
@gastovski Well I have more screenshots here didn't wanna post anything nude and suffer Stanley Woo's wrath.
Steam Profile screenshots There's a nice..one of Triss swimming.

Even hardcore gamers need instructions. And that tutorial movie is very good at showing what should be done. Even the manual isn't that helpful.

Sure it is. Some of us, myself included, have taken in it one step further and even are playing on hard and soon might try Insanity. The combat isn't simple button mashing like many many many of the DA2 hateers have claimed. Your thrust in the prologue to use all immediately available skills. The game expects a person to know how to read and open a journal to read the hints and tutorials. Not a child who can't pay attention.

The best mentor is failure. When you fail it's time to reconsider your strategy and devour the sweet taste of victory once you get it done. That's something that's totally absent in the "we-hold-your-hand-and-guide-you-along-our-rails" mentality studios are putting in the game.. I'm no g.d. 5 year old.

I'm loving Sile's Polish VO. I think it's the same woman who did White Rala in TW1.

Instructions? Instructions !? Since when are people no longer taught how to read at school? RTFM y'know. RTFJ(ournal). What about some oldschool experimenting? It's a hyperbole, but before you know it, games will be turned into nothing but a movieplayer with only two buttons to press.. Start.. and Stop.

Trial and error. Best thing about Witcher 2 is that it forces you learn.

P.S. Please give me reason to change my PC
Resolution? Using medium-ish custom settings or stock medium?
Also, I felt that the Prologue was a decent tutorial. Light perhaps, on the handholding and it can be difficult but it explains everything you need to know briefly with pop-ups and the journal helps for more in depth explanations.

She is a great character, and I love the women's clothes. I wish my mages looked like that - I even love the sorceress' hairstyles. But the clothes for females in general! Love them. Even like this, for armor:

Some people like to know the controls and such before going to a fight. Nothing wrong with that. I would love to know how to use alien gun before going to a fight trying to shoot with it, for example.
