Okay fellas, I have a question.
Since I keep hearing about it, I'm thinking in purchasing this game. However about a week ago I bought the first Witcher and I really didn't like it.
Do you guys think that this game improves over the first ? and in what ways?
I can relate in not really enjoying the gameplay of the first one, I really only played it to get familiar with the story (which I thought was excellent) before TW2 came out. I found TW2 to be a huge improvement in almost every way, especially the combat, character interaction, and story. And of course, it's visually stunning.

This +100, I too have to admit I had a hard time getting into TW1. TW2 however? So far its my GoTY.

The Witcher 2 is more like being thrown out of a plane after a parachute and then expected to walk the last 20 miles.
There were moments in the game where I was got so frustrated that I let loose a string of profanities that would make the most hardcore rapper blush, and my wife would stick her head in the door and give me her,"are you losing your mind?" look

When the Editor was released I just kept playing more and more especially with the FCR mod. Act 1 when I found out the village priests sells children to salamandra who sold them into slavery and Mikul raped a women who killed herself it really showed how different the game is to anything else.
Also Carmen is the Outskirts priest daughter when I learned that I was shocked how different she turned out from her father.

"Just stop" because you like it and other fans of TW1 don't? We're just as much entitled to an opinion on the design changes as those who like them. That's like someone telling Origins fans to stop complaining about DA2 because they're different games.CoS Sarah Jinstar wrote...
Lots of good tips here, I'll have to try and remember them when I get home. As for the folks bashing the game and trying to compare it to DA2. Stop. CDPR crafted a complex hardcore RPG that has challenge and a bit of a learning curve, that was their aim. Bioware's aim with DA2 was to simplify it for the masses and the ADHD crowd of push a button to win and over simplification.
Two completely different design philosophies. Personally I perfer the complex route.
And for those of you saying "just play on Easy," that's as dumb as Mike Laidlaw's statement that playing on Hard would fix all the problems people have with DA2. If it's a design problem, it's not going to go away by changing the difficulty.

Not sure about the "anything" part, but I really like how CD Projekt combined stunning scenery, graphics with a narration and gameplay that doesn't suck.

No Laidlaw said to play on Hard or nightmare if you want a challenge. That's a design problem.
CDProjekt said "Normal is normal and not easy" and it definitely isn't easy like DA:O or DA2's normal difficulty setting.
Normal requires you to use your signs at the very least on hard your gonna need sings and alchemy and your occasional bomb and I assume insanity needs you to be versatile in everything Geralt can do.

Uninstalled already? I wholeheartedly disagree with your critics in the previous post. Elthon John guy is just a troll. I have a underspec GPU and I had no tech problem whatsoever with TW2. And for people who has, CDPR is totally committed to fixing it. Too many people with too many different rigs.
It's totally different from some devs that will leave their games with some bugs forever, like Awakening and so far, DA2. It freezes every now and then and I need task manager to close the game! And lots of people have the very same issue, while the issues in TW2 are with servers and registration mostly. NOT with gameplay.
Yes, some Trolls are attacking the game in GoG's forum but I don't doubt that some ever went there from here! Some people have legitimate complaints. Yes, the inventory management could be better, the savegame management is unexistent but the combat? The combat is awesome! It really pays to spend some time studying your enemies.
The manual? What Manual? Everything you need to know is in your JOURNAL and particularly in the Tutorial section for the first playthrough. Abdicating of consulting it is not to be blamed on the game!
Poor design and imbalance? That's just trooling, imho! It is the second coming of the RPG. As much as I've said it before, the guy at Rock, Paper & Shotgun said it too: TW2 will be played and talked about for years to come. DA2? filed under "games I played long ago".

Fixed for you. They're Really Awesome but some people are just too lazy! J/K But it helps to have a workling link instead of a plain url when you want people to see your stuff!
EDIT: Spoilers but then, some like me will choose the faithful path on the first run. Glad to know that Geralt still causes a little tingling...

Sadly yes they are. It ties into the whole "entitlement" mentality of today. "what? I have to actually know what I'm doing to suceed in TW2?"

I can't wait to restart in Hard and then Insane but it will take a while. Normal's got easy for me now but I'm really taking my time with this game and I don't touch difficulty slides once I've started a run, on principles.
